I have stayed at Veranda House at least 5 or 6 times and love it more and more each time. My September 2020 visit was my first since it has been under new Management. John Bottino and Joe bent over backwards to ensure everything was perfect for each and every guest. They have added a fun new fire pit and still have the amazing chocolate chip cookies (of course). The location is fantastic, just around the corner from the Whaling Museum. I became instant friends with John and Joe - how can you not? They helped with dinner reservations and John even took me to the airport when I left. I encourage you to have a glass of wine by the firepit with them - they clearly love the island and Veranda House and make it a pleasure to stay there. Looking forward to September 2021!
Our girlfriend stay at the Veranda House was great! Not only was our host, John, very accommodating, he was very knowledgeable about where to eat, what to see, where to get the best views and he filled in the details by looking up the answers for us. It was off-season so we felt like we were in a private home. Loved the charm of the decorating, artwork and flowers. Definitely would stay there again!
We felt so comfortable and enjoyed every minute of our stay! Joe and John were there to help right away if we needed anything. We will definitely be staying here again. We have stayed at other hotels on the island but the Veranda House has been the best experience so far.
It wasn’t a perfect stay, but it was a good stay and I would go back again. We arrived on Sunday, 9/20, and they were expecting us and knew who we were when we walked in. That sense of belonging stayed the four nights/five days while we were there with the entire staff. They were great. Breakfasts were wonderful - some sort of freshly baked good every morning with yogurt or overnight oats or a peach cobbler. Very yummy. The rooms are updated and very comfortable. The location was perfect. Easy walk from the ferries, and just a few minutes to town and all the restaurants. Easy walk to Brant Point and beaches. Great locale. The staff was wonderful and super responsive to everything. Couldn’t ask for more. The only issue that we had was an early cool spell. There was no heat in the hotel. Our room ended up being 50 degrees with no heat for the first 2 nights. On the third night, the heat came on but there was no way to regulate it. So our room became 80 degrees. We ended up turning on the air conditioning to combat it. I believe they were able to put a valve on the heater to help that after we left. Management communicated that they were in their first full season of having the property. They not only tried to rectify and help where they could, but also gave us a partial refund for our discomfort, which we hadn’t even asked for. It was very much appreciated. Again, the staff will bend over backwards to make sure your stay is wonderful. Despite the weather, we would definitely recommend and go back again!…
My boyfriend and I booked a room at the Veranda house. We came in from The Steamship Authority (with our own scooters- don’t forget your helmets). The hotel is very close to ferry terminal (0.3 miles). We drove up to this beautiful house (beautiful porch and the smell of freshly baked cookies in the afternoon). Upon our arrival we saw several bicycles under the terrace, with a fire pit, corn hole and Adirondack chairs. The inside still smells crisp from their current renovation. I would say it has a chic cottage feel. The staff is absolutely amazing, very accommodating (a huge plus in my book). When we checked in we were told we were in the Chapman House (on the same property) on the third floor. I wish I had taken pictures of the room because everything was perfect!! The bed was so comfortable and the throw blanket made you feel like you were at your family’s beach house. In the morning (due to COVID rules ) they were not able to do a continental breakfast, so they would leave a cute cooler outside your room with breakfast. The first day was bagel with lox, a fruit cup and yogurt. The second day was a mason jar with chia seeds and oats with a banana. They always had plenty of box water, cold brew and hot coffee and tea in the common area. In the afternoon you could smell warm cookies as they were being baked and a night there were boxes available for you to do s’mores. On Sunday we went back to the Veranda house to relax and there were about five other couples that came and did the same thing while we were at the fire pit. The staff that works there was so accommodating from transporting guests to and from the ferry, to storing your items before and after checking in/out of the hotel to advice on where to go and calling a cab. We enjoyed our stay much that we stayed another night. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this beautiful establishment. Thank you for a wonderful time!!…
