What a gem! Beautiful property, gorgeous location. I rented both buildings, a 16 bed and a 23 bed dorm for Girl Scouts and a few adult chaperones. We stayed 2 nights in late August and it was perfect for this. The beach is across the street, a gorgeous walk thru the dunes or a public life guarded beach with facilities... More

I simply can't say enough good things about the HI-Nantucket hostel. The historic building is gorgeous, the beachside location is incredible, and the staff are friendly, competent, and helpful. I could not believe my luck at stumbling onto this place about two weeks before my trip -- $35/night to stay on Nantucket! But it was even better than I expected.... More

Two mom's and 4 kids stayed in family room. We had the best experience ever!!! The property was magnificent, location spectacular and staff warm and friendly. We enjoyed making our own meals and talking with the other guests. Loved the outdoor showers and fire pit chats at night. We stayed 3 nights and wished we planned more!

We had the opportunity to stay for three nights at Star of the Sea Hostel. We learned of the accomodation through the Girl Scouts website. We arrived to the peaceful seaside surrounding by taxi (about 3 miles or so ) out of town. David greeted us and since we arrived early allowed us to place our luggage in the main... More

I stayed for three days in early June and absolutely loved the place. It is right on the edge of the beach and the views from the peak in the hostel are awesome. Janice, the manager was very friendly and accommodating. She gives you an epic narration of the history of the hostel from the time when it was a... More

Hints and tips: It's 3 miles out of town and not all buses run until July - check the Wave website. The nearest stop is a mile or so away I think but I'm not sure. Taxis charge $12 from the airport. What you save on staying here you can spend on bike hire, brought to you at the hostel... More

A great Hostel that sits just above the beach. Walk down a path threw the dunes and your ocean front. This was the very first hostel I ever stayed in. It was a big space in an old Coast guard station. It is off the beaten path in a residential area of homes. The bus stop in at the end... More

Clean rooms, clean kitchen, ample breakfast, great location. Surprisingly "older" crowd (45+). Your fellow guests make (or break) your stay - so it's purely "Potluck". We met some truly wonderful, interesting people during my stay. Most lovely of all, was Jacques, a 75+ year old French New Yorker. Also some delightful Liverpudlians in the mix. Sadly, it never fails to... More

This is one of the hostels that I would travel to just to hang out at the hostel. Located across the street from surf side beach, you don't need to go much further. Opposite side of the island from the hustle and bustle of town, it's is serene and relaxing hanging out and grilling food, having a bonfire, watching the... More

As always, wonderful management by Janice and friends on one of God's little acres. Clean as a whistle, everywhere, from kitchen to dorms to tidy outdoor area. Janice and company make you feel like you are a welcome guest in their own home. Tons of beach towels, boogie boards (mini surfboards) provided. Outdoor showers (heavenly on a hot night, and,...
