I would like to take a few minutes to say Thank You to the staff of the California Hotel in Odessa, Ukraine!! I was met at the door with a warm greeting and then at the desk the receptionist was so sweet. She was patient with my questions and very kind in her answers. Check in was very fast!! and my room was perfect! Clean, neat and in very new condition. House keeping does a very thorough job cleaning. The staff is very good with advice about the city, and can give advice and instruction as to where to go and see the Best attractions. Victoria was so very nice to me, personally asking if everything was alright with my room and check-in. Her Smiling face will forever be etched into my mind. I highly recommend this Hotel, Book it and you won't be disappointed. Jeff Stacy

I start my review by saying I was welcomed by Ruslin of Security at hotel with a warm smile and it continued at reception by (Queen) Viktoriya who assisted me numerous times with helpful advice during my 11 day stay. The accommodations were superb in a junior suite, with a king size very comfortable bed, balcony, great water pressure, and excellent closet space. The view from my room was limited as I had tall trees and some view of the central city. The restaurant was fantastic! Breakfast every morning included and many choices that changed a bit daily. The service is the best you can get. Each day I was initially greeted by Dasha the beautiful greeter, dressed in period attire of circa 1890’s, with a genuine smile. I entered the restaurant with similar greetings and smiles from the best waitresses ever! Tania, Anya, Anna, Anastasia. These ladies worked hard staying on top of requests from guests. I hope I didn’t leave anyone out, if so, blame my old age. The dinners are not included but the selections are wide and varied. Chef Yulia prepared the exquisite and delicious food with top chef quality! She was just the best! At this fine boutique hotel there is a small workout room, a small pool, and a Russian sauna. In the afternoon there is juice available, cherry & apple, fresh fruit and a menagerie of a small yellow bird and a yellow python snake kept in a secure glass container. The hotel has Thai massage services for in room or in a designated room. The prices were reasonable. The Thai massages were the absolute best. I had three while there. I highly recommend getting a massage. This hotel was a great find for me and anyone traveling in Odessa. Either for business or pleasure. The location is walking distance from several attractions and stores. I recommend this hotel as a ten (10) on a scale of 10. It doesn’t get much better for delicious food and excellent service and for any advice from 24 hour reception. You will love this place!…

Continuing a business trip, I wanted to take a three-day city break in Odessa. I was offered a fair deal by the hotel (25% less the rate I was offered by a similar class hotel where I stayed during my business trip and with breakfast and late 14:00 hrs. check-out included). All in all, the deal and the location of the hotel made me book a junior suite (702) with a west facing balcony and some great sunset views. Compared to similar Ukrainian hotels, the breakfast is excellent and frequently resupplied with freshly prepared hot items. They offer sparkling wines and spirits as well, for those who fancy this. When I asked if the room had a refrigerator, they answer was “yes, and if you want to use if for your own beverages, we can clear it right away”. This is definitely a hotel I’ll use again, also because the staff is committed and engaging with the guests, which creates quite a welcoming feeling. The only downside was that the hotel requires pre-payment, which is complicated, because I was unwilling to send my credit card details by e-mail. In the end, they accepted my credit card payment at check-in, and this worked fine.…

Hotel was fine, a little dated but everything is clean and spacious. Definitely wouldn't be a 5-star hotel by Western standards but overall not bad. Breakfast was a little limited but tasted good. Really good area, 5 min walk from the Champs-Élysées of Odessa. People complaining about minibar charges .. like really? ... its literally cents on our dollar.

The hotel looks nice, and good location. Also clean. However be careful with overcharges. They have overcharged me with a minibar item what I never had, neither my guests. Well, the item is actually was only 4 eur. But I think that the behavior with a potential returning guest and a travel influencer / hotel advocate was not a smart choice. Seemingly the hotel has serious income issues if 4 eur cheat will save them. Although 4 Euros is not a significant amount, but that's a 10% overcharge. In order to avoid any "surprises" like that, I will never again stay in this hotel, and I suggest to everyone to consider other options as well. If you can not, just simply ask for removing all minibar items from the room prior you take it. Although it's still not a safety for overcharges based on any further items.…

We stayed here with our 2 small kids and stayed in the spa room. We had two private saunas and a small pool in the room! The kids loved it, but if you are expecting a warm pool it is not so that is my only complaint. The sofa is huge and we watched tv at night. We left early the next morning and they made us breakfast to go which was amazing! We loved our stay

This Hotel did not meet our expectations. First we booked a room with balcony, a welcome gift, half board, access to spa and VIP access to night clubs. First, there is no balcony just a door to open, second there was no welcome gift, the half board was breakfast and lunch (we were informed that it was breakfast and dinner), When we asked to use the spa we were told it was prepared for someone else who should use it in a couple of hours and we could not use it before them. The spa did not include sauna which was extra. The lunch could hardly be defined as a meal there were no choices and enough food for just av very few people, breakfast is probably the worst hotelbreakfast I have eaten in years. The welcome present was given after asked for and the exscuse was that we has not informed of arrival time (which is not correct). The room was ok, but there was not even an extra roll of toilet paper. Compared to what you buy and what you receive this Hotel is close to a scam.…

We picked this hotel based on location and price, and frankly couldn’t have done better on both counts. Lovely old fashioned style to the hotel, a throwback of years gone by but kept up to date with enough ‘mod cons’ for our needs. Staff were helpful, room was a really good size with comfy bed and nice large balcony. Would definitely come back myself and/or recommend to others...
