We recently stayed with Ivo & Maria at Apartments Baltazar in Dubrovnik and the experience was beyond exceptional! My fiancé & I have been travelling Europe for the last 2 months and Dubrovnik has been the most relaxing & amazing stay by far! This was our second visit to Dubrovnik, and our second time at this place, and I can safely say I’ll never come to this city and not stay here. Ivo is the kindest, caring, most helpful & hospitable host I have ever met while travelling. His customer service is truly old school, making sure you are in absolute comfort during your entire stay. He’s also extremely well connected, and knows just about everyone in the city, giving you a true local experience. His apartments are situated PERFECTLY just outside the city walls, a short walk through the historic streets to the old town, with the most amazing views of the city & ocean. Everything was always super clean and he was always right there if we needed help with anything. Thank you so much Ivo, and keeping with tradition, see you in roughly 5 years time!!

We were looking on internet for a good place yo stay in Dubrovnik and found this place. After contact with the owner we went over. Great place, nice very clean appartement with brand new interior. Breakfast was good, All fresh food. Host Ivo and his wife Marija are amazing people. They told us a lot about there lovely city, country, traditions... Every morning we were sitting together on the terrace for breakfast. We came as guests and left as friends.

Ivo and Maria are the perfect hosts. Ivo has many interesting stories to tell about his life in Croatia. He is a kind, funny, and generous man with great love for his country. He is very helpful if you need advice on restaurants or to book a local tour. He will book you a taxi anywhere or back and forth from the airport or ferry port. My wife lost her phone on Lokrum Island and he was able to get it back the same day! Everyone calls him the “Mr. Google” of Dubrovnik! The apartments are simple and basic with a wonder view from the balcony, but it has everything you need for a nice holiday. The beds are comfortable, and the apartments are safe and secure. He serves up a nice breakfast everyday with a smile! Items included are meats, cheeses, hard boiled eggs, bread, yogurts, juices, coffee, tea, etc. We also had fresh tomatoes from his garden! He will sit and chat with you about your daily plans and what you enjoyed doing. When we left he gave us a book on Dubrovnik and a bottle of local orange spirits…so sweet. You can find fancier, more expensive lodging without the fabulous views, but Ivo makes the place very special. It felt like we were old friends, and he has genuine interest in his guests. We would not hesitate to return to Apartments Baltazar! Thanks Ivo and Maria for a wonderful stay!

I stayed in the apartments for 7 nights during the heatwave in July. There are three apartments, two being available on a B&B basis, the other being room only. They are situated just off one of the main roads above the old town. Parking can be arranged if required. It is about a ten minute walk into the old town, down approximately 400 steps. The downside here, of course, is that it is a long haul up the steps back to the apartment after a long day’s sightseeing. However, bus number 3 (free with Dubrovnik Pass) goes from the entry to the old town (Pile Gate) to about 50m from the apartment. Or a taxi is around £10 (probably cheaper with Uber). The apartment is superb, simply furnished and spotlessly clean. The bedroom is fairly large with ample storage space, the bathroom has an excellent shower, and the kitchen area has a cooker, fridge/freezer, table/chairs, TV and sofa. And, the real bonus for me was the espresso machine. Double doors open onto the balcony with a brilliant view of the sea and old town. You certainly wouldn’t get a view like that (or even a balcony) if you stayed in the old town. There is a terraced area just outside the owners’ (Ivo and Maria) apartment where breakfast is served, and where you can just chill out and have a chat when you return from the day’s exertions. Good choice for breakfast and Ivo’s home-grown tomatoes and cucumber are delicious. The real highlight of my week though was meeting Ivo and Maria. They quite obviously enjoy what they do and are determined to ensure their guests enjoy their time in Dubrovnik. Ivo is the best host I have ever met, knows everything (or if he doesn’t, he knows someone who does), and is a genuinely nice guy with a keen sense of humour. The fact that he has a Spurs shirt with Luka Modric’s name on it has not clouded my opinion LOL. For many reasons this is the best place to stay in Dubrovnik and, although rather expensive for one person as opposed to a couple, I thoroughly recommend these apartments. Ivo, beware, I will return for sure !!!

We just returned from 4 night stay at this property and came away with a top notch experience. We booked Ivo's apartments based on other reviews and they were spot on. We had a great view of the Adriatic Sea from our balcony with incredible sunsets every night. The days were warm, perfect weather. Ivo arranged for a driver to and from the airport. The property is up on a hill adjacent to the main road. If you have mobility isssues, ask Ivo about the #3 bus from old town up to the apartments. There was a large bedroom, one bath and a kitchen, family room area. You will not want to cook, your're on vacation and should pack toiletries. We booked private tours to Kotor, Montenegro and Bosnia on short notice. We had Nino as our driver. He was the perfect guide, very personable and quite fun to be with, also had great suggestions for lunch. He also took us on a panorama tour which is very good value when compared to the cable cars up to Mt Srd. Incredible sunsets per Ivo's recommendations. We had breakfasts on 2 days. The other days Ivo packed food for us as we had early tours. My wife and I had an incredible time on this trip staying with Ivo and traveling with Nino. They are 2 local men who survived the war and are working hard to support their families. Kind and always considerate of their guests. We highly recommend them. Ivo can arrange anything. A fellow guest had a dental emergency one day. Ivo arranged a dental appointment that same morning. A few tips. The local currency is kuna. There is an ATM on the one way street leading to old town outside a car park. The limit per transaction for us was 2000 kuna, however we just repeated the withdrawal within a few minutes for more money. Ivo will give you a detailed map. There are also numerous ATMs in old town. They only dispense kuna. There is a small market( Prima I think is was called) just opposite the ATM, where we bought drinks and snacks. Very reasonable prices compared to the market in old town. You will need good walking shoes.

We have just come back from a few nights at these apartments and loved it. The apartment we had was big and clean, but it was the sea view from the terrace that made it amazing. This was a last minute trip for us so hadn’t done much research, but that was not a problem thanks to Ivo. He helped us plan what we should do and even arranged everything for us. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone. It is worth being a little bit away from the old town to have the sea view, good price and of course Ivo - who made this holiday extra special. Thank you! Emma & Joe

This was our second time staying with Ivo at Apartment Baltazar and we cannot recommend it more highly. Anything you need, any arrangement, any recommendation, any airport transfer - Ivo's your guy. He arranged a private wine tasting trip for us with a driver and sent us to the most amazing and beautiful place for lunch. The location at the top of the hill may seem intimidating, but the views are incredible and an Uber from Old Town is only about $5.50 USD. Stay here - you won't be sorry!

Stayed at Apartment Baltazar for two nights. Our apartment was large, clean and very comfortable, it included a bedroom with plenty of space for bags, large bathroom, living room, small kitchen and a balcony overlooking the old town and Adriatic. Ivo is a fantastic host, he arranged for our collection at the airport and was there to greet us upon arrival with a drink. Ivo took the time to listen to our plans, provided maps and recommended sights and very worthy restaurants. He generously lent us beach towels to take to Lokrum Island and welcomed us back with a drink and a chat upon our return to the apartments each day. The apartments are located about a 10 to 15 minute walk to the old town, the walk includes a lot of stairs but shouldn't be an issue providing you have a small degree of fitness. Daily breakfast was provided and including cereals, yogurt and cold meats. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Apartment Baltazar and would happily return next time in Dubrovnik.

My wife Susan and I have recently returned from a 4 night stay, our fifth visit to Apartment Baltazar. Ivo is no longer just an apartment owner for us, he (along with his wife Marija) is a great friend. You might think then that my review will be a bit biased, but you only have to look at the other 126 reviews to know that not to be the case. I cannot recommend Ivo and his apartments highly enough. They are situated close enough to the Old Town to go and explore but far enough away to escape the hustle and bustle, to enjoy the amazing views with a cold drink in your hand. Especially welcome after walking up the steps on a hot day. The apartments are great on their own, very clean and well presented. The real benefit of staying is, Ivo. He is generous with his time, loves chatting with and getting to know his guests, sharing so many stories. He knows everything there is to know about Dubrovnik and pretty much everyone that lives there, which is handy if you want to book a restaurant or organise a tour. This is not just a service reserved for repeat guests I should add, he does this for everyone. The other benefit is the people you meet also staying with Ivo. We have met some wonderful people over the years. That wasn’t any different this time, spending our breakfast most mornings speaking to a lovely couple from Australia, Tony & Jill. Thanks so much again Ivo (& Marija) for another fantastic stay. We look forward to being back with you on your terrace as soon as we can. Chris & Susan

We stayed for 5 nights in one of the apartments with a sea view ( and the view was magnificent ) The apartment was spacious, scrupulously clean and had all the facilities we needed What made this apartment stand out as one of the best places we have ever stayed at was the hospitality of Ivo and Maria From the moment we walked in Ivo went out of his way to make us comfortable and ensure we were relaxed! He went out of his way to suggest and arrange activities for us (all of which were excellent ) and then took the time when we returned to find out it went over a cold beer! Needless to say it was a sad farewell when it came time to leave as we had enjoyed the stay so much Could not recommend Apartments Baltazar highly enough
