Just had a wonderful 7nt break at this beautiful hotel. We stayed in a side sea view room that had a small outdoor patio area. The view from the room was amazing, especially at sunset. Amenities in the room included tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, safe, fridge & toiletries in the bathroom. The bed was so comfy and there were also extra pillows supplied. We loved that the A/C worked perfectly (unlike in other hotels we’ve stayed) as the outside temperature was in the 30’s.

The breakfast buffet was excellent. The choice included cooked breakfast, omelet/egg station, pastries, fruits, yoghurts, meats & cheeses, cereals, various breads and toaster, plus salad! The snack bar had a good choice for lunch, salads, pizzas, pasta, burgers and ciabattas and quite reasonable Of an evening the buffet was just as good with a great variety that even the fussiest eater would be able to find something to eat. We were on a bed & breakfast rate, the evening buffet cost 230 HRK per person. One thing to note is that the tap water is completely safe to drink in Croatia. We initially bought water at the supermarket, but then just filled the empty bottles with the tap water.

The pool areas were spotless, plenty of sun loungers & umbrellas and the views are amazing! We did notice a few towels placed on sun loungers to ‘reserve’ them, but there were still plenty to chose from. There was aqua aerobics a few times a week, which was good fun.

Of an evening there was live music in the gardens next to the main bar / reception area.

Outside of the hotel, to the left & only a few minutes walk away, was a couple of small supermarket / souvenir shops, bar/restaurants. There was another restaurant virtually directly opposite and, again, just a few minutes walk away. We walked down to the small beach which was very busy. There are also 2 beach clubs that you can reserve cabanas at, not sure of the cost. At the hotel there is a small gift shop, hairdressers and clothes shop.

The hotel has a concierge that books day trips. The choice of trips is very good. We didn’t book any, but we got an Uber into Dubrovnik Old Town which cost 70HRK. The afternoon we went was absolutely manic in the town. It was busy with cruise passengers, we wished we’d checked the port timetable now.

Our stay at Valamar Argosy was perfect. Every member of staff was friendly, helpful and always smiling. Even the resident cats were very friendly! The views are breathtaking and the hotel is just a short ride into Dubrovnik Old Town. We wouldn’t hesitate staying here again. We are definitely going to recommend this hotel to our friends & family, and will definitely return.

We spent a week here (Easyjet holiday) and really enjoyed it.
The hotel is at the end of the peninsular so has beautiful uninterrupted views of the sea and surrounding islands. Sunsets here are spectacular.
We had a "superior double room with limited sea view and balcony" and this is exactly what it was. The view from our room (247) was bordered by a wall and a tall (but beautiful) pine tree, but we could easily see the sea and an island. It was also quiet. The rooms seem to be very soundproofed from each other. The buildings are low rise and the 2nd floor we were on was actually the same floor as reception. The buildings are spread widely rather than high. The room had a fridge which was very useful. The shower was always good and the rooms are nicely decorated with plenty of storage space and comfy robes and slippers.

The pool area was great, although sometimes difficult to get a sunbed but staff will help if there are a lot with towels on but not being used. The sunbeds themselves could be better as can only be used flat or with the backrest 45 degrees up but they did have a shade attached to the top which was easy to adjust and very much needed! The pools were refreshingly cool and had infinity edges, giving you that view again. The pool bar/cafe was good, having a good selection of lunch type dishes/snacks.

We used the beach at the nearby Valamar President hotel. The hotel does not have a beach of its own but there are another couple of (pebbly) beaches nearby with sunbeds and cafe/bars. All beaches charged for sunbed, umbrella and towel hire but if you don't want to pay, there are rocky areas and some purpose built platforms all along the coast.

The bus stops nearby for a 20 minute ride to the old town of Dubrovnik or get off sooner for bars and restaurants outside the old town. You can also walk from the hotel (and past President hotel) down a long coastal promenade to the rest of the Lapad peninsular which has restaurants and bars along the way. There is a small shopping centre 5 mins walk from the hotel - it's a bit rundown but has a couple of good eating places and a small supermarket.

The breakfast had the most choice I had ever seen and all food was very good quality. I was pleased to find a selection of non-dairy milks and also gluten free options. The service by the staff was very good and this was the same across the hotel. We did not eat in the hotel (buffet) restaurant for dinner as we stayed on a B&B rate and had no difficulty finding other places to eat. There were plenty of relaxing places to sit inside and outside the hotel and the bar service was good. Trips can be booked at the hotel - we did the 3 islands boat trip which was excellent. There are no pushy sales people.

On checkout day, our pickup was in the evening but we were able to use all the hotel facilites until we left, including the showers in the indoor spa area.
Overall, the hotel suited us very well and we would definitely book again.

Really enjoyed a 10 night stay at Argosy. Staff are all very friendly, and in the midst of Covid19 cleanliness is taken very seriously by this hotel.
Pool areas had plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas and the views are spectacular.
The food is plentiful and freshly cooked at both breakfast and dinner (definitely recommend going half board when booking rather than B&B). The fish being particularly good. It gets a little samey after a few nights, but there are decent (if a little pricey) eating places within walking distance from the hotel (Komin and Levanat were our favourites nearby), or grab a 100Kn taxi into Dubrovnik old town.

Also recommend walking down into Lapad from the hotel using the coastal path. You need to join the path via the steps from the road down to the Levanat restaurant (which is situated on the path). They seemed to be resurfacing the pathway while we were there and installing some lighting which would make it easier after dark.
There are also lots of tree-shaded little locations down steps off the path, with ladders into the sea for when you've had enough of the pool. Or the More Hotel has loungers and parasols to (expensively) rent on their seaside terrace.

All in all very happy with this choice of hotel, good location and a relaxing stay.

Visited Dubrovnik due to being on the green list and we are so pleased we did as this wasn’t our original choice.

Hotel is nice decorated and super clean and in a great location to have both a chilled/beach/pool holiday and city break in one.
Uber costs around £7-£8 into old town, there is a bus stop near also which goes into town also.

There is the area of Lapad close by which has restaurants and bars for if you don’t fancy heading into old town every evening.
The pebble beaches nearby and coral beach club is worth a visit as the sea is so clear.

We stayed b&b and the breakfast is plentiful and a really high quality, English beans, sausages ect.
All staff at breakfast and around the hotel are polite and friendly which is great to find!

Our only moan would be that there isn’t any bottled watered supplied for the room included in the stay costs and that soft drinks/ water at the pool bar are expensive at nearly £8 for two small bottles of Coca-Cola.
There is a small shop behind the hotel and when buying 12 bottles of water for our stay this was a costly £21 which we couldn’t quite believe! We couldn’t find a supermarket but I would recommend trying to based on this.

Dubrovnik is expensive as a whole comparing to most other Europe destinations but a great holiday worth having!

When we arrived at this hotel, room wasnt ready and we were told to simply wait 2 hours. Check in starts at 2pm, i wish we were told this beforehand.

Room was modern and nice, AC was great, housekeeping cleaned it every day. However our room was located right above the lobby bar and there was live music every night till 2300. Live music was OK, but if we wanted to go sleep early, it was impossible to do so.

Breakfast closes at 10, so it was a slight bummer to put alarm on your phone on a vacation to get something to eat. 9-10 is ofcourse the busiest time there, they should extend breakfast times to 11 or even 12. Very good variety of classic breakfast foods in a buffet style breakfast

Dinner started at 19, and thats when i recommend you to take it. In mid august the sunset was between 19-20 and the views were the best from the dinner table. Waiters were very aggressive though, they cleaned your table instantly if you left a empty plate there. We were also bummed out that even water wasnt included in half board, be ready to pay at least 100€ just for the waters if you stay for a week. Also drinks are very expensive here, but very strong and not watered down.

The location is pretty good and the garden arouns the hotel is well maintained. Hotel is overlooking the sea in a magnificent spot. Views from the restaurant are the best. You can enjoy the views at pool too. You have good access to old town with bus number 6 (Its VERY packed though). We enjoyed the Lapad promenade the most though, there so many hidden swimming spots there and so many bars and restaurants if you need something to eat or drink.

Both pools were great, theres some kids playing but there was room for us in the mix (as a couple).
Snackbar good but expensive like everything here. Sunbeds were awesome and even had a little lid for your head so you can read and relax.

We stayed for four nights in October, and were truly spoilt with the weather reaching mid 20s every day. We split our time between exploring the old town and relaxing at the hotel.

Check in was incredibly efficient and we received a warm welcome. We stayed in a park view room which overlooked a small courtyard area.. The room itself was spacious and spotlessly cleaned every day. The balcony was on the small side, and didn’t receive much sun. On our first night, we were woken at 6am by noise outside the room. This continued on and off for an hour and a half and we decided to call reception. They apologised and explained this was likely the cleaning staff. The noise stopped immediately and when we returned to the room later that evening we were surprised to see a bottle of complimentary sparkling wine left for us. It was pretty undrinkable, but a thoughtful gesture nonetheless. The food at breakfast was hot and to a high standard. The omelette station in particular was brilliant. Fresh juices rather than machine options would improve the offering further. The snack bar was convenient for lunch times although expensive (around £15 for a panini and chips). They also offered all the usual cocktails etc. We chose to purchase water at a small shop behind the hotel where you could buy 2l for £2 which was much cheaper than the snack bar. I understand you can drink the water in Croatia - this is just a preference :-)

The views from the hotel are spectacular, and it is well located and well served by the number 6 bus. It is cheaper to buy bus tickets in the hotel shop rather than on the bus. You can also visit the President hotel next door as a guest at the Argosy. We chose the use the beach one day and were able to use the deckchairs free of charge. The beach bar serving food there was even more expensive than the Argosy, around £20 for a burger!

For dinners out, we would highly recommend trying restaurant Arsenal. You need to book in advance online but this was truly a highlight. We enjoyed brilliant meals in Taj Mahal and Shizuku also.

We would highly recommend this hotel to all and will return if ever holidaying in Dubrovnik again.

We visited this hotel in August 2020 during the covid restructions. Croatia wasn't our first choice for a holiday as we had been before but our first and second choice holidays were cancelled! However we weren't at all disappointed with the hotel! The cleaning of the hotel/ rooms was spotless, hand sanitisers everywhere . The staff have obviously had to adapt to a new way of doing things but they all worked extremely professionally and were very helpful, in the Dining room, reception and at the snack bar. The layout of the pools and area are lovely with fabulous views! The garden area was lovely to sit in at the end of the day or evening for a drink. There were musicians playing/singing most evenings if you didn't want to go into the old town. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. Tea and coffee and dressing gowns were provided also. Lovely big bathroom. The hotel is ideally situated for the bus into the old town as other reviews have said. We used the beach club at the sister Hotel President which is 5 mins walk. We showed our room keys and got discounted beds and towels. Very nice to have access to the beach club and to swim in the beautiful adriatic! There is nothing negative I can say about the Argosy we had a fabulous week and felt perfectly safe during the covid season. The pizzas in the snack bar were delicious as were the chips! We thought this was ideal spot for visiting the old town but being able to chill by the pool/ beach as well . We visited the Cave Bar in the More hotel which was fantastic, we got the cable car up to Mount Syd and ate in the panoramic restaurant which was lovely, we got the boat to Cavtat which is a fabulous place to visit and watch the stunning yachts. All in all a fabulous time in Dubrivnok and at the Argosy!! Thank you 😊

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Valamar Argosy. This holiday was originally booked in 2019, and we were due to go in June 2020, but events obviously prevented that. However, it was definitely worth the wait. We have used Valamar hotels several times now in various locations throughout Croatia, and each time the experience has been first class. This was no different.

The hotel sits right at the top of the Babin Kuk peninsula, with incredible views across the bay. The view at sunset in particular is to die for – on a nightly basis, people dining on the outside deck of the restaurant would stop eating, pick up their phone and catch the view of the setting sun. It is unbeatable.

We had a room on floor 4, facing towards the inner square directly above where the nightly entertainment was. The room was large and clean, and bathroom was first class.

The catering, both at breakfast and dinner was superb – lots of choice and all cooked and presented perfectly.

The pool area is large and well maintained, and there is rarely an issue getting loungers – this is not the kind of establishment where you do the 6am towel dash.

The evening entertainment is, let’s say ‘sedate’, but that reflects the fact that the hotel is geared very much towards adults – it all makes for a very laid back experience. But if you want something different, the No 6 bus takes you into town, and is only a minute or 2 from the front door of the hotel. It is very efficient, regular and cheap. The walk along the Lapad promenade is also a beautiful way to while away the evening.

We have stayed in Croatia several times, but this was the first time in Dubrovnik. The old town is breathtakingly beautiful. There is loads of things to do but Dubrovnik is noticeably more expensive than other areas of Croatia. There are lots of ways to relieve yourself of cash in large chunks. Note: Don’t be tempted to spend anything if you visit the Copa Cabana beach area, just round the corner from the hotel. The prices are eye watering. We passed by on a walk and dropped in for some water as we forgot to take a bottle. I felt as if I had been mugged.

All in all, it was a superb holiday and we will definitely come back. Maybe a week or so earlier next time because the temperature was an overpowering mid 30s every day and the hotel got noticeably busier at the start of July. But when we return, I would love to use the Argosy again – it is worth it just for the views. I can’t describe how amazing they were.

We stayed here in May 2019 on half board basis. The location of the hotel is great, in that it’s about 20 mins outside Dubrovnik so in a quieter location but can easily be accessed by bus which runs frequently from just outside the hotel.

The hotel itself has panoramic views of the sea and you often see cruise ships coming in and out.

The poolside area was nice with 2 pools and a snack bar/restaurant so you can spend al day by the pool if you wish.

There’s a nice walk along the coast which takes you to Lapad which is about a 20 min walk, there you will find plenty of bars and restaurants.

I would recommend this hotel if you want a relaxing break but an opportunity to visit a city also.

Good floor access via lift to good middle sized clean room, everything working and in good order. Hotel lies about 15 minutes to the north of the old city, traffic depending, has a bar in the lobby, a good sized buffet restaurant for breakfast and lunch. We found the wine expensive (96 Kuna-£12-for two "large" glasses of local red) but quickly served. Recommend this hotel for a short stay.

Yep the drinks in the hotel are expensive as expected. We were paying €35 for wine, cocktails €12, bottled water €7 you get the idea. Fridges are small but empty it and fill it with drinks from the small local stores which are 3 mins walk right next to the hotel by the park. Hope that helps
