Up until a few days before we were due to arrive in Dubrovnik, we weren’t sure if we would be able to go with constantly changing regulations.
Fortunately we could and we were so thrilled to arrive in this beautiful little city and be met at the City Gates by Nemanja (I hope that is right!!) who carried our bags to St Joseph’s which is discreetly tucked away down one the many quiet side streets off the main one.
The hotel has only six bedrooms and feels very private and luxurious. Our room was large, airy and cool decorated in muted greys and whites with original beamed ceiling.
Vast and comfortable bed, a large spotless bathroom and even a little kitchen area hidden away behind sliding doors. There is no restaurant on site so breakfast delivered every morning to our room - fresh eggs, bacon, sausages, breads and pastries, fresh fruit, juices and lots of coffee!!
All of the above deserves five stars but it’s really the staff who make it such a welcoming place. Thank you all very much

I cannot sing the praises of St. Joseph's Boutique Hotel enough! The entire staff was nothing but above and beyond from the minute we arrived until the minute we had to leave. The room we had was so perfect since we were traveling with our 13 year old daughter. My husband and I had our own room and she had the sleeper sofa which we left out and this still allowed us plenty of room to move about.
As an added bonus, there was a small storage cubby under the stairs for our luggage, genius idea to not waste space and keep suitcases out of the way. Our daughter also thought it was a fun place to play too! The decor was updated but still fit the historical vibe of the building. Having the dining table gave us a perfect place to sit for a bit in the evenings and talk about our day or play a quick card game and was delightful as our breakfast was delivered right to our room. I loved this part because it gave us time to eat and still gather our items for the daily outings we took.
The location of the hotel couldn't have been better, very central to everything and old town was super easy to navigate and quickly remember where things were that you might want to revisit.
As this was the mid point of our lengthy European travels, we inquired about where we might be able to do some laundry. The staff said they could do it for us and bless them for it!! We were so thankful for their extra effort because we needed clean clothes. They also had a little shop just down from the hotel on the corner and I got a gorgeous leather bag and was able to meet the owner, Gordana, who was just delightful. Dubrovnik was a favorite and I think lots had to do with St. Joseph's staff being so helpful and accomodating.
We can't wait to return!

There are only 6 rooms, 2 per floor. With a very simple front door, the hotel name is on a street lamp, as all old town. You have to know where you’re coming. A member of the staff will greet you at Pile Gate and help with the luggage.

Reception is a small desk. There’s no elevator, but the staff will help you with the luggage. Our room was a spacious king bed suite, with a kitchenette. The bathroom had 2 sinks and separate tub and shower. The room had a lounge, a desk and a small round table with 2 chairs where your breakfast will be placed, at the time of your choice, between 7:00 and 10:00am. It includes coffee or tea, a fruit smoothie, fresh fruit, breads, both sweet and salty, and eggs, in different styles.

Robes, slippers and a very good hairdryer are offered. Our room was shady and quiet, thanks to the double windows with wood shutters. The A C worked perfectly. When we said we were going to the beach, they offered us a tote with beach towels and a big bottle of water. It’s great to start your day inside the walls.

What a sweet hotel and respite in Old Town Dubrovnik! All of the staff are super helpful, responsive prior to arrival helping with everything from private yacht rental to restaurant bookings, to airport transfers to providing beach towels and especially when they meet you at the gate to take tour luggage through the pedestrian only streets of old town to their location! Nemanja was especially wonderful and helpful!

You can feel safe staying here as a solo female traveler. I was in a King Deluxe Suite which was nice and spacious with kitchenette. The windows do face the alleyway/streets in the town where there are restaurants below that do stay open late and sometimes clean up early in am but I liked the atmosphere it provided.

The breakfast was always so delicious and hearty! Had a hard time finishing it as one person!

Thank you to all the staff and owners again!

This is a very professionally run hotel, large suite type rooms but some are smaller in the annex which would be ideal for 3 couples or a family staying. Breakfast served in room with fresh coffee just ask for how and what you want. If they have it you’ve got it. Location is perfect 1 minute walk to Main Street and 2 minutes to external walls. Very good stay

This is the perfect hotel - I wouldn’t change a thing! Our hosts George and Nemanja were wonderful - helpful with reservations, passionate about the beauty and history of Dubrovnik and truly charming. The room was beautiful and clean, the breakfast delicious (fruit, meat, eggs, cappuccinos, pastry and green juice or smoothie) and served in the room beautifully displayed. The location could not be better and central to everything Dubrovnik had to offer.

St Josephs is located about five minutes by foot from Pile Gate, inside the city walls right in the heart of Dubrovnik's old town. It's a small family run hotel. Our room was in the top floor, nicely designed and very well kept. The building dates from the 15th century, but the hotel has been renovated to the highest standards. Despite the central location, it was pleasently quiet in our room.
Breakfast is served in the room and comes with all sorts of sweet and savory pastry, fresh fruit, a smoothie, and coffee or tea to your liking.
Staff is enormously friendly and helpful. We were guided to our nearby restaurant as the streets in the old town are a bit of a maze, and were offered help with booking a wonderful day trip to Ston and the Pelješac peninsula. They even called the tourist office to check if the cable car is already running (right at the beginning of the tourist season). On our last day, our bags were kept until we left to the airport in the late afternoon and we were offered to keep our room key to have access to the rest room in the common area. Absolutely amazing service!

Our family of 4 stayed at this boutique hotel for 4 nights. The location within the old city walls was perfect for us to explore the city, access taxis and the cable car, and truly enjoy all the City of Dubrovnik has to offer. Even better than the accommodations and location was the staff; they were tremendous! They cared for all our needs, made great recommendations and associated arrangements, and were truly engaging in conversation and adding a personal touch to our stay. The hotel became home during our stay.

Beautiful boutique hotel on a quiet street inside the ancient walls of Dubrovnik. The staff is very first rate and bent over backwards to help me locate and obtain a Covid testing site. My room was at the top of the stairs (no elevator) but the reward was complete silence and a heavenly night's sleep in a great bed with feather pillows, adequate lighting, plenty of space for luggage and lounging and a lavish in-room breakfast the next morning. Luggage transport from the Pile gate was not a problem at all as the front desk sent a porter. As a designer, I very much appreciated the good taste and attention to detail in this hotel. I highly recommend it.

The hotel is well situated in the old town, not far from the main gate. We stayed here for 5 nights in June (should have been 4 but due to flight cancellation stayed another night). The staff here are just amazing and really look after and guide you to ensure you make the most of your stay. The room was very spacious and comfortable and spotlessly clean.
There are only two negatives which we did not mention when we stayed- our room was at the back of the hotel which faced out onto the outside seating area of a restaurant, it really didn’t cause an issue at night but between 5.30 am and 6.00 am we were woken with the noise of delivery’s etc. Breakfast here is served in the room, beautifully displayed but a little repetitive and could be improved. For the room rate (approx £500 per night) breakfast could have been better.

Which do you recommend? Apartment? Suits? In what terms?
Answer from Zeljko K
Hi Tabi, All of our suites are beautiful, comfortable and unique. The King Suites are a little larger and have luxury Villeroy & Boch baths along with his and hers sinks. The Queen Suites have a lovely authentic feel and feature refreshing rain showers. The apartment is perfect for up to four guests and has a bedroom and living area with sofa bed. Hope this helps, Zeljko.
