Dispite of the caring owner and lovely house and location, it was impossible for us to sleep here because of the warmth. There is no airconditioning and during summer the room temperature rises up to 40*c because of all the wood. Unfortunately we had to book a second hotel for the same nights in Plovdiv because of this. But to be fair, when its 20*c outside temp the rooms are very special.

Great stay at Old Plovdiv Hostel! We were personally greeted and given fresh lemonade, while shown a map of the area. Our room was spacious and the beds were clean and comfortable. We also had a wonderful continental breakfast of fresh meats, cheeses and other Mediterranean types of fruit. It was lovely and refreshing. Fresh coffee and lemonade whenever you wanted it! The hosts treated us like family friends, we will definitely return if our travels bring us back. Great hostel experience for our teens! Also very secure building and the rooms were smoke free.

First of all this hotel , yes this is a 3,5 star hotel in all aspects , is making a grave mistake. It lets dirty cheapy arrogant backpackers and cyclists in for 10 euros only with all the negative consequences. Tip for Xristo. Make the 5 bed a 3 bed and charge double, its worth it! Staff: of very high level for BG standards expect for the Moldovan girl who was rude to a customer twice her age. Cleanliness is excellent. Location : for Kings! Tip for Xristo number 2: Repair wooden stairs ASAP. Its such a shame that mouldy cold "hostels" with greedy , stingy owners in the dirty and noisy downtown charge as much money as this beauty which travels you back in time for free almost! Thanks for wonderful hospitality my friends. Will be back. Spiro Greece

We stayed in only one night, but we were enchanted by the house and the furniture. It's an old house, built in 1868 and you can feel the old times when there. The lady on the reception, who was there in the morning was very nice, smiling and helpful. The breakfast was OK.

Excellent location, excellent value, quaint hostel. I drove, so I was in need of parking spots, which were at the hostel, free of charge. There are "ruins" in the courtyard, and even into dining area, which make for a nice experience. Breakfast was included, which was a large continental meal, more than I wanted or expected. Stand-out feature for me was the personal greetings to everyone who checked in on a given day.

Back in 2014 it was named one of the top best Hostels in the world. I think is still stuck in a time warp and living on past glories, Checking process was smooth and initial information was ok, Bed and room location was good. the showers and toilets were clean. Coffee machine needs replacing has seen better days. towels provided. Limited Bathroom and showers available. staff eager to please but limited knowledge of basic things like transportation or where to go etc.. Overall was good value, breakfast and towels included. but there were limitations and had hoped for more based on its reputation.

The energy of this house was amazing! I know it used to be in a very bad shape but the owners restored it and kept what they could so we had modern accommodations and the feeling of being in the past all at once! They offer three breakfast options - regular, vegetarian and vegan, are very nice and helpful and you feel as though you are staying with relatives.

Directions provided prior to arrival were great. The check-in process was smooth. Lots of things to like and few problems with our stay. Pros: The beds were comfortable. Free tea/coffee. Nice seating area upstairs and a welcoming patio area behind the hostel. The showers and toilets were kept clean. Staff were multi-lingual and very helpful. Cons: Room 3 is across from the front desk, next to the drink coolers and the stairs and backs up to the patio. Our 2nd night was very loud. Guests returned to the hostel at mid-night, 1am and 2am (which triggered a door alarm). The last guest returned to the front desk at 3am to ask questions. Even with ear plugs sleep was impossible. The early risers arrived on the back patio around 7am. If you drink alcohol, stay out late and do not need much sleep, this is the place for you. Otherwise, look for another place to stay.

This would have to be one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. The staff were superb, so friendly and helpful. I even arrived with a sign by the door with my name welcoming me! Perfectly located in the old town, very quiet and comfortable stay. Super friendly and chilled vibe which flows down to the guests who were all friendly and chatty. Free breakfast was great, the homemade lemonade was amazing!. I would stay here over and over again!

I stayed in a dorm of 5 beds and was perfect. The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful, the house is delicately beautiful, an old authentic Bulgarian revival style which is wonderfully restored. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the old city and few minutes walking from Kapana.
