Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I have been travelling for 45 years, from 3 star upwards (though my last 3 star was in Spain some 20+ years ago and was far superior) Don’t get me wrong the staff work terribly hard but they lack training and leadership to provide good facilities in this very tired and ‘bodged’ hotel The best thing about the fabric of the hotel was the room, though not all the sockets were working, we always travel with extension cables/adaptors thankfully, and there were copious amounts of hot water available in the bathroom The food was not to our taste and I know it is a difficult thing to get right but other hotels manage this ?? Hot food was mainly cold, the Bain Marie obviously needing attention - should have figured it was why there was a microwave eh !! We got ?? some sort of stomach bug with diarrhoea and couldn’t eat for 24 hours, a blessing in disguise The hotel advertises entertainment but what it provides is a small team of amateurs who have no real talent but who seem to think that everyone needs to be entertained On one occasion one of the said team was even chasing, inappropriately I hasten to add, a female guest around the beach !! I could go on but the conclusion to this review is that you get exactly what you pay for here, no more and no less

Good value for money! There are some areas of organisation that could be changed... the check in was tough going, not just for the new guests but for the reception staff. With so many flights coming in at the same time, the check in paperwork could be filled in by guests on the trip from the airport, therefore saving time at reception. Staff are friendly and yes, they would like to be tipped, they work hard for not much money. We didn't tip until closer to the end of the holiday but still received good service. The wine in the restaurant is watered down, to the point of no wine! We sent it back on several occasions and did eventually get a white wine. It is not watered down in the bars!! The food was good, with many special food stations. Freshly squeezed juice in the morning was lovely. The maids do an impeccable job, the rooms are cleaned daily and to a very high standard. The animation team were not for us, they seemed to swagger about the hotel with no regard for the clientele. The only night when we enjoyed the entertainment was the first night with the outside entertainment, the 'fire breathers' although no fire breathing the man who wanted people to stand on him when he laid on a bed of nails or put a sword to his neck was astounding, if not scary!! Great location being right on the beach, although the beach sellers are there, and most are happy with a no thank you, some can be more persistent, they are not allowed close to the hotel beach lounge area and security do a great job of keeping them beyond an invisible line! There was a stomach upset outbreak while we were there, which unfortunately one out of two of us got it, while there and it may have travelled home with us now! It did seem that the hotel, once aware, were quick to sanitise everyone's hands on entering the restaurant, please note hand sanitiser was always available throughout reception. I'm not saying it was the food, it could have been a number of different things. Overall its a good place to stay for the money we paid.

Marhaba Beach basically delivered what I expected it to. It is a large all inclusive hotel in a good location by the beach and where there weather was quite good (c. 18-20 degrees) in mid/end February. The food was better than I thought it would be based on the reviews I'd read - it was always hot, there was a good deal of choice, and lots of it. I suspect those reviewers who say it wasn't good didn't try anything local and stuck to the chips (which were good actually) and chicken... Speaking of other reviewers, the biggest downside to this hotel - and which they can do nothing about so it's no complaint against Marhaba Beach - is the other, British, guests. Some of them, especially the ones with children, were appalling. Not all of them, of course, but enough for it to be embarrassing. Lots of reviews mention the animation team and how good they are. I didn't feel this was the case. They work hard, that is true (long hours anyway), but they're loud and cliquey. I've experienced this in other similar hotels so wasn't surprised but wanted to mention it in this review in case people go to the hotel expecting something really professional. The bar staff were very good and, after a day or so, the staff in the restaurant were pretty good too. (the first day it took ages to get a drink, as I think they were getting used to who I was etc.). The indoor pool is good and very warm - the outdoor pool was too cold for me and anyone else while I was there. The spa left a pretty poor impression on me and so I didn't take a massage there, which normally I would have. I went there for the complimentary 'hamman' which was as far away from a genuine hamman as it's possible to be. The room was not nearly hot enough and the customer service comprised the following: (1) me entering the spa to be told 'downstairs'; (2) followed by 'undress' and being pointed to a room to do; (3) being told to 'sit' once in the space and then, without warning, being blasted with a shower (without a shower head - so just out of the pipe) on one side of my body/face only; and (4) sitting there for 20 minutes. I was staggered! Instead, on the advice of a local tour guide (booked via Guru Tours who I would strongly recommend), I went to a (very) local hamman and had a great experience for 40 dinars (c.£10). Finally, I would recommend venturing out in to Sousse - and not on a Tui tour but by yourself or with a local guide. There is a great archeological museum, an impressive fort (Ribat) and, most amazing of all is the souk (market) which is a real assault on the senses and utterly wonderful. Of course, 75% of the British guests at the hotel wouldn't dream of doing this and the one or two I heard who had done something like this - aka had stepped outside the hotel briefly on the main strip beyond - came back terrified that someone had approached them to ask if they wanted a taxi, and the like. But don't let them put you off - if you want sun, decent food and access to some real cultural interest then this is a good option.

Large clean rooms, some with nice views, easy check in, corridors could do with being painted and carpets cleaned, and general refurbishment, First couple of days, food ok... but gradually got worse due I believe to food being recycled after each meal, to the point where its nearly inedible, and for the most part tasteless, which surprised us given the lovely spices available in that country, Drinks are plentiful and sufficient staff numbers for amount of guests, although the restaurant staff rarely smile. No one, even restaurant managers seems to know when a la carte restaurant is open making it impossible to book a table. The complimentary hammam, consists of being taken to a steam room, hosed down with plain water and left for around 30 minutes, hosed down again and told that's it completed, no wash or any further interaction with staff. A complete waste of time, and should never be offered as a hammam experience. Animation team do try and entertain guests, would we return? Yes to Tunisia, but not to this hotel.

Dear Lolly, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We appreciate your comments regarding our large, clean rooms and easy check-in process. We apologize for any shortcomings you experienced during your stay, particularly with regards to the food quality and the hamam experience. Your feedback regarding the need for refurbishment and improved communication about the a la carte restaurant is duly noted and will be addressed with our team. We're glad to hear that you found the drinks plentiful and the animation team entertaining. We hope you'll consider giving us another chance in the future. Best regards,
