A converted old mansion, the Ramayana Boutique Hotel provides 15 nicely decorated rooms, surrounded by nice garden and trees. Our location is one of the best in town. We are situated right next to the national museum, the morning market and Wat Mai temple. Literally a few minutes walking away are the main street, mekong river and night market. We provide breakfast and selected Asian and western dishes for lunch in our small restaurant and bar. We offer in-room massage services to our guests.

This hotel had character and the design was pleasant and was really close to the night market and town - but WOW was it noisy!! Our room was above the restaurant and I was woken up at 5.30 AM by the sound of dishes and chairs banging next to each other. THEN at 6.30 AM the DAILY OUTDOOR MARKET starts RIGHT NEXT DOOR to the hotel and ALL AROUND the entire hotel! So, if you want to sleep in later than 6.30 AM, I absolutely do NOT recommend this hotel. LIGHT SLEEPERS BEWARE.

Pros:

1. Nice design
2. Friendly and accommodating manager
3. Decent selection of news channels on TV
4. Good selection of toiletries in the bathroom
5. Very close to night market and town

Cons

1. VERY Noisy for the light sleeper starting from 6.30AM
2. Breakfast was a 5/10 & coffee was terrible - GO OUT TO EAT! There are so many great places to eat nearby
3. The bed we had was SUPER hard. They only had one room, I was told by the staff, that had a soft bed topper. The rest of the rooms had hard beds. Not so nice for more than one nights stay.
4. The hotel actually allowed an entire family of about 10-15 people check into the hotel, and I think they were housed in about 3 rooms or so... and they were very noisy - in the morning and at night. I felt like I was at a low cost housing area or a shipping yard or something with the loud yelling back and forth in between rooms by the family. This definitely took away from the whole 'boutique hotel' feel of the place.

We loved this place as we had moved from another hotel which was awful and what a surprise. The location is amazing - 100 metres from royal palace, night bazaar, and phosi hill.

We stayed in a junior suite which had a king size bed, large room, excellent bathroom and amenities. Spotlessly clean. Safe in room and nice furniture.

Jeroen, the Dutch manager is a attentive, friendly and helped us out a couple of times without hesitation. Great to have someone who speaks great English sometimes.

The breakfast however could improve with a little more variety! And wi-fi in rooms is sketchy at best!

Didn't use outdoor space as a lot was in the shade - not really a place to chill out in but to explore the town from. But Jeroen gave us the name of an amazing resort to spend the day at.

Greate location, close to Museum. But honestly, town is small and everything is in walking distance. My room was on the ground floor - too dark, facing the wall :). Heating system is missing however I had no complaints - room was warm. Breakfast is poor, my recommendation would be to go for breakfast outside. All hotels in LP are from slightly to extreamly overpriced. Taking in account this fact - I would recomend Ramayana as costs vs quality.

The Ramayana "Boutique" Hotel "and Spa" looks charming from the outside and it's location is convenient.
Although our room looked nice from the inside as well, with large, comfortable beds and pretty decorations, it wasn't adequate at all. The toilet kept on running, the shower was on dwarf's length and because of the wooden structures in the room, you still had to creep through to get in your bed. But the worst part was the isolation. You could look right through the roof and it was very noisy. Neighbours seemed to be in the same room and sounds from outside (templegong at 4 and 5 a.m., morning street market at 6 a.m.) are very close.
With a price of $80,- per night (high season), we expected a better breakfast than was served. Okay, breakfasts at hotels in Asia are often dissapointing, but while on every streetcorner in Luang Prabang, you can buy fresh baguettes, this hotel manages to present old peaces of bread. Can do better.
Finally, the "Spa-mythe". It is not a spa, not at all. The story was that due to the temple next door, there were restricions concerning what was allowed and not. Having a spa on the terrain was not possible. Well, why still call it a spa, then? Call it what it is ... a mediocre hotel for a too high price. There are much better in options in Luang Prabang, for this amount of money as well as for a lot less!!

We were given one of the "nicer" rooms on the 1st floor. The walls are paper thin so it's impossible to sleep because you hear every single sound from outside (cars, motorbikes, trucks, night market closing, day market opening, frogs croaking all night long, and of course people and tv sounds from adjoining rooms). Eventually we moved to another room which was much quieter but not as nice (very dark). Also the breakfast is very sub-par (stale bread, coffee not great). Shame because the location is very central and convenient, but actually that means the noise levels are unbearable.

We have Been there last april, the hotel is well located, but it seems like During the time it has not Been repaired, the walls, the floor, only one of the staff speaks english, so, the rest of the time when he is not there You can not ask for help.
Beds are very uncomfortable.
The hotel is next to a temple, and the mohnks start working and making noise every day at 430 am, so.....thats the time we used to wake up!!!
The breakfast is poor.
I don't recommend it.

The hotel was located just off a side street from the night market. It was a bit dark on some of the nights and I was a female traveling alone, but I either asked someone to walk with me or just walked quickly down. I didn't eat the breakfast as there were so many lovely options around town, but it looked pretty basic. The room I had was really cute and very spacious. The price overall was great and the wi-fi worked perfectly.

It is located between the morning and night markets and a short walk to nearly all places of interest. The room was atmospheric and we could enjoy the muffled drums from the nearby Wat each day at 4pm. The resort had great Wifi coverage even in the corner room. Lovely breakfast and the server had a smile for us each morning.

We stayed for two nights in mid February. We had booked a junior suite which was downstairs and rather dark so upgraded to an upstairs suite with a balcony. That suite was not available for night two but we were moved to another equally opulent one but without the balcony. The decor is fabulous and of the country. The location between the two markets and across from the museum is perfect. I am surprised this hotel isn't higher up in the Trip Advisor rating list.

The hotel is beautiful inside, lovely rooms with wooden floors and lots of good decor, however... it's surrounded by markets. The evening tourist market for handicrafts is not a problem, even enjoyable to be within as it's quiet and has lots of lovely stuff in it. But the other (local produce) market starts at 4am with a series of motorbikes/tuk-tuks roaring around the hotel as well as people talking outside. It's impossible to sleep through.
In the rooms, problems quickly become apparent - shower designed so lots of water flows onto the floor, toilet not filling up properly, sink leaking, etc. It's quite new, so this might be teething problems. Furthermore, the towels smelt strangely musty, and the lighting arrangements were less than good - you need a torch to be able to read in bed - not good enough!!
i hope it improves, and that the market moves somewhere else, because it's got potential to be really lovely!
By the way, despite the name, there's definitely no spa in evidence (yet?)
