The fusion of Lao and Western culture and style here has produced accommodation of the highest standard. From the layout of the rooms to the recognition of the requirements of a diverse range of guests, everything has been carefully thought out. Ample, well placed power sockets, a fabulous hot rain shower, western style sanitaryware and ambient lighting certainly ticked boxes for us. We loved our little balcony overlooking the morning market too. Super comfy bed...and everything is very clean - they have a lovely housekeeper. The owner, Andy, is a dream host. Nothing is too much trouble and he has produced a super helpful document of food and day trip suggestions which proved invaluable during our stay. I cannot recommend this accommodation highly enough, from location to the finer details of the rooms you will not be disappointed and it certainly exceeded our expectations. In addition....they have their own awesome coffee shop.

This hotel is located next to the wonderful, bustling, Morning Market in Luang Prabang. In front of our first floor room were tables and a little coffee shop run by the owners. You’d think that it would be noisy, but, surprisingly, it wasn’t. The owner, Andy, is American, and his wife, Venus, is Laotian. They were helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to make your experience in Luang Prabang as easy or as challenging as you want it to be. Need laundry done? Just talk to Andy. Need transportation to go to the waterfalls, a challenging bike ride, a place for a delicious lunch? Just ask Andy. He and Venus were the best hosts. The hotel has two stories and we asked to stay on the first floor. The room was small but very clean and adequate for what we needed. The aircon was great, and the room even had a ceiling fan that didn't rattle. There was a shelving unit with space to hang clothes and shelves to stash belongings. It had a good shower and even hot water in the bathroom sink—a rare find. There was no fridge but we got two bottles of water every day (more if you ask). I even asked for an electric kettle and Andy provided one for us. I paid $18, direct through Mali House because Booking.com messed up my reservation.

HOT WATER IN THE SINK! that was MY idea. it comes from years of traveling around Asia and never, not once, having a sink in the bathroom with hot water. it's such a luxury for shaving and washing hands. Thank you for pointing that out. We also have the best showers in town with TONS of hot water. I'm not sure of who you are (alias) but thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of the praise that you heaped on us. it makes all the hard work worth-while.

Six weeks in Asia and this was our favorite spot. Andy and Venus are amazing hosts. The location right beside the morning market was so interesting. The room was great and Andy was happy to answer all of our questions about Luang Prabang and Laos. We stayed 5 days, we could have stayed for weeks. We will be back.

Really enjoy my stay here, super easy to find and located on the morning market and 2/3 min walk from the night market. Andy, the owner is an excellent host and really made me feel at home! He’s super helpful and recommended me loads of things to do and eat. He also offered me a private tour with his driver at a good price (also at any time of the day). The room was exceptional, good bed size, clean bathroom with shower head and rainfall shower head. The room didn’t come with a hairdryer or kettle but I’m sure if you ask Andy he’ll help. There’s also coffee available on site as well as a juice bar. It’s not as noisy as you think with it being located on the morning market. I slept through it and I’m a light sleeper. Definitely not a party hotel, guest are older or solo travellers like myself. Would highly recommend!

The plan was to spend 4 nights at Mali House, but that changed when monsoonal rains prior to my arrival damaged the bridge on the road north. I had no hesitation in deciding to spend an extra 2 nights. Andy and Venus were the most helpful hosts and generous in sharing their local knowledge. Mali House is located right beside the morning markets but my room on the first floor was quiet and comfortable. So relaxing having a "Mali Coffee" made by Venus at her little outdoor cafe while watching all the market activity. Just a couple of doors away is Manichan House, their other accomodation where a delicious breakfast is served in the shady courtyard - eggs cooked to order and jams home made by Venus from fruit from her productive garden. Andy helped make sure all my travel arrangements went to plan, from making travel bookings and ensuring that transport arrived on time to advising on local road conditions. The extras - trip to Ban Chan pottery village and tasty dinner (egg noodle soup with duck and wontons.....yum) at noodle restaurant owned by family friends - were made possible by Venus and Andy. Thanks so much for a wonderful visit!

Most notably, the owners Andy and Venus are extraordinarily helpful and forthcoming in all aspects. We felt right at home. The double room we stayed in was very nice. Walls are rather thin but we didn't hear anything. Carpet floor might be an issue for guests with dust allergies. Free water and tea all day and the home made jam in the morning are highlights!

Funny, but when I think about my 3 night stay, I remember the hot shower the most. Huge shower heads too, good water pressure. Towel provided in room. Soap dispenser for Body Wash lotion and Shampoo. Twin bed was comfortable, not too hard. Room looked over the morning market and I woke to the sounds of the market, which I liked. Andy took care of all my needs, like getting a bus ticket back to Chiang Mai. Venus is warm and friendly. I regret that I didn't have her cook me a meal while I was there. Andy offered me a great rate for off season, so I felt I got excellent value for the dollar. Location is excellent; very close to both morning market and night market. I would stay again for sure next time I go back to Laos.
