Andy and Venus work so hard. They really care about their guests. This is obvious from beginning to end. Their guest house is in the perfect location to explore Luang Prabang for a few days. We really enjoyed the breakfast and the welcome.

We stayed here for about a week and our whole family was so sad to leave. Venus and Andy are consummate hosts, incredibly welcoming and helpful to all their guests, and really knowledgeable. The location is perfect to see the morning market and pop up to the night market but the peace and tranquility of the guesthouse belies its proximity...

We stayed at The Manichan GH for seven nights this January. A family group of 5 in total. We would not have wished to have stayed anywhere else in town. This was not because this was the swankiest or best appointed guest house nor because it was an immaculately clean or well organised location. Rather this was a location in...

Discontinue your research on where to stay in Luang Prabang! STAY HERE!!! That saying, book your stay ahead of time, especially during peak season. I loved Andy's and Venus' legendary hospitality. Venus is a great cook! The breakfast was great and simple. The Christmas Eve BBQ was filled with great food. Her Lao fondue also tasted great. Although during the...

Hello Dear Friend, thank you for the very, very kind words. It was great having you stay with us. NEWS FLASH: we updated our internet service to fiber-optic. Even though our ADSL contract with Lao Telecom had not yet expired and we took a substantial loss, we felt that it was worth the money to get better internet service for...

Manichan guesthouse was ok but the room (ours was no. 6) was no more than a bed and simple bathroom, both of which smelled heavily of damp. The bathroom in particular smelled quite unpleasant. The room backed onto a laundry line and busy street so it was quite noisy. Andy was a talkative host and the other guests were v...

Dear Poppy and Dave, if there was anyway that I could edit your comments, it would be as follows: "much to his credit, Andy apologized over-and-over again for the problem and did ALL that he could to rectify it. He tried several different remedies, but as he explained to us, this happens sometimes in the old section of Luang Prabang...

As we are travelling as a family of five, we really appreciate it when we can find guest houses with a family room. Manichan has a great family room that was affordable and very comfortable. Breakfast is included and it is amazing. The homemade jams give it an extra special touch. Andy & Venus go out of their way to...

Andy and Venus are very attentive hosts who make sure you are as comfortable as possible and give lots of advice and ideas about how to spend time in the area. They go the extra mile in lots of ways, including arranging airport drop off and trips out. The breakfasts are great and Venus cooks delicious food in the evening...
