This is a beautiful hotel with big guest rooms tastefully furnished. There is a big comfortable bed, a bathroom with a walk in rain forest shower & a seperate deep bath. There is also a large balcony overlooking the river.

However there are two hotels with the Apsara name (same owner) and this one is on the opposite bank to the town of Luang Prabang. It is more upmarket of the two.

There is a nice restaurant at the hotel with a limited selection. There is next to no other dining options near the hotel.

To get to the main town for the sites & restaurants is a bit of a slug. In the dry season there are large number of steep steps to walk down (& I mean large number)to a small hotel boat which brings you across to the other side. And then another large climb up an equally large number of steep steps. And repeat to get back to the hotel.

Staff are helpful and friendly. There is free wifi throughout although can be a bit patchy at times. And breakfast was included in my room rate which was tasty.

But the hotel has a lovely pool and a beautiful setting so it’s a nice place to relax and chill.

Apsara Rive Droite is located across the river from the main town. For older people, getting down to the river via rickety stairs may be an issue so they will not be able to use the cute river boat to cross river to get to the main part of town.
The room was clean, quiet: a few things needed tinkering with but eventually worked (safe, warm water from shower).
Mr Han, the manger is the nicest manager I've ever met. Once, when kitchen was closed, he cooked a simple dinner for me. Their breakfast was the best I had on my trip : fantastic warm bread, great mangoes.
Dont get confused between this hotel and the other Apsara - that one is in the main town and although has better convenience, it was too loud for me and I changed to this one. This one is 4 stars whereas the other one is 3 stars. Christopher, the manager, used his own car to help me move and even let me drop by the ATM to get some money so that was very nice of him. There was construction going on so be aware of that.

Apsara Rive Droite is a home away from home. Located on the quieter side of the river, the hotel is a sanctuary in Luang Prabang. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable with a lovely Laos aesthetic. And did I mention how comfortable the King size bed was. We had a big private balcony with a day bed for reading on the afternoon. The pool is long enough for a few laps and the breakfast by the pool is delicious. This small hotel has a wonderful team of dedicated staff, led by the incomparable Han, who seems to know what you want before you do yourself. Thank you to Ivan also for his personal driver experience.

We have stayed for 4 nights. This hotel makes you feel like royalty in luang prabang. From the private little boat that takes you back and forth across the river into the main part of town. The attention to detail grounds (like cute hats to use while at the pool), they do it right. The breakfast includes a chicken pho option that was delicious and the coffee is excellent.
The staff cater to your every need. Mr. Han, Tick, and the manager Christopher will help you enjoy your time. We would love to come back here again and stay on the 2nd floor so we can see the river.

all through covid incarceration I would dream of being back here and living in luxury again. I managed it and it was as wonderful as I had hoped. The rooms are huge
and look great, the gardens are even more lush and the staff just as helpful and welcoming. The small boat was still there waiting to take me across to the temples and back for a long swim with a cool beer.. It was quite simply just lovely.

My husband and I had booked a 3 night stay at this hotel, based on positive reviews on trip advisor. What a disappointment!!!!!! We ended up leaving the same day of arrival.
The nightmare started on the way from the airport. The final stretch to the hotel was over a bumpy dirt road through not the most desirable neighborhood. Made us think, how can anyone use the free bikes to go anywhere???? The only real access to town was by boat.
This is where the major problem that made us leave occurred!!!! The numerous steps down to the river would have been okay ( we are fit and very active) if they would have been properly constructed. The steps have been made, literally, by cutting into the ground and placing a piece of wood to hold the groung on each step. It doesn't end here... There was no dock, so we had to jump from the river bank into the canoe. We tried to remain positive and made the crossing to the other side. On the way back from town, the situation became real interesting!!!! When we arrived on the hotel's side of the river we had to jump from the boat to the river bank, which was very crumbly. Miraculously, we did not fall in the river.
We became very concerned of how this ordeal would be at night in the dark and decided to leave!
A hotel that charges $ 200 a night in Luang Prabang should have a decent and SAFE dock!!! When we were there, we were the only guests. Also, for this price there were no tea/coffee making facilities, no hair conditioner or body lotion provided either ( standard at almost any hotel).
Definitely, WOULD NOT recommend this overrated hotel to anyone!! Do yourself a favor and stay in any of the many wonderful boutique hotels in town. See our review of beautiful Villa Santi Hotel.

Very sweet local staff who try very hard to make things comfortable. However this is not luxury and is really only worth staying at for a night to see Luang Prabang and move on. Wi fi is woeful and the boat journey across the river for dinner became tedious. Air con was loud and the hotel needs upgrading overall especially for the price we paid in low season. We were told on arrival that as its low season they decided to stop the kitchen after 4pm. When we expressed concern we were told that we should let them know and they can open the kitchen however we were unsure as to the atmosphere and what might be available if it were just us! Pool area isn't comfortable, need to change chairs and have more than one towel per person. Wouldn't return unfortunately.

We spent 5 wonderful days at the Apsara Rive Droite in Luang Prabang. This lovely hotel is located, as its name suggests, on the right bank of the Nam Khan River, directly opposite it's well established sister hotel, the Apsara, which lies on the peninsula.

The peninsula with its many lovely temples, museums and night market is easily reached by hotel boat (5 minutes), on foot over a bamboo bridge (10 minutes), or bicycle (15 minutes). The hotel also offered us a complimentary Tuk Tuk service (15 minutes).

Located just far enough away from the noise and bustle of the town, the hotel is wonderfully peaceful. It has a large salt water pool which is a must, if like us, you are traveling with children. The decor is simple and elegant. The rooms are cool, spacious and very comfortable, particularly the glorious beds. My parents-in-law were particularly impressed by the very bright reading lights next to the beds. The bathrooms all had a large bath and shower. Our rooms all had nice balconies with chairs and a daybed.

The hotel restaurant provided a generous breakfast with plenty of choice - excellent pastries, jams and other options. Wed also had a nice selection of simple dishes for lunch and dinner.

We enjoyed every minute of our time there. The hotel staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Our excursions were were well organised (at very short notice) and we we were beautifully looked after. We could not recommend the hotel more highly. It is very good value for money.

This lovely nine room boutique hotel is across the river from the main part of town, but the hotel has a 24 hours boat transfer service for the one minute trip across. There is also a bamboo bridge a bit further up the river, but only in the dry season. Either way there are several dozen steps at either end which may not suit those with limited mobility. Alternatively the hotel the hotel can arrange a tuk-tuk (free when it's raining!). They have a sister hotel across the river with a lovely terrace overlooking the river, a nice place for a sunset cocktail - you can organise the boat back from there. The hotel itself is immaculate with huge tastefully decorated rooms overlooking the pool - the upstairs rooms also have filtered views across the river. However rooms 6 and 7 upstairs back onto the local village road so there is some traffic noise, but it's not too bad. All rooms have a private terrace with day bed, coffee table and armchairs, great place to chill. The staff are exceptional and will go to any lengths to please. Breakfast on the terrace is a delight. They also have a restaurant, but we always went across the river to sample the many culinary delights over there.

Be warned, this is not a hotel - they do not offer dinner, only breakfast. We chose to book here as we thought we were booking into a hotel

Remember you are on the "wrong" side of the river from Luang Prabang, so apart from 2 local restaurants (which the management does not particularly recommend,) you have to cross to Luang Prabang to eat at night. or see the town.

When we arrived were were told that the hotel boat operated 24/7 for the 30sec trip over the river. After two days when we asked for the boat, we were told that the water was too low, and we would have to get ourselves to the town. The only way to walk is via a rickety bamboo toll bridge, which is fine during the day but difficult after dark. Although they must regularly have the problem, there was no Plan B for getting guests into town, and it was only when we got upset that they agreed to supply a tuk-tuk for the return journey after dark - it takes about 15 minutes by road, such as there is only one distant car bridge.

The other problem we had was house-keeping. The girls do a good job, but nobody in management bothers to check their work. Basically they roughly make your bed in the morning, but do not tidy anything else in the room. The assistant manager found it difficult to accept that this was his fault for not checking the rooms, not the chambermaids fault as they were not properly trained.

Our room was particularly dark (garden need pruning outside the verandah) and one of the main lights was not working. It took over 24 hours to change the bulb from first reporting it, and that only after we had to ask again

The building and rooms are very pleasant, sort of faded colonial chic, but as I say, it is a B&B and not a hotel. And it is difficult to get to town at night if their boat is not running. If you want a hotel, then you need to stay on the Luang Prabang side of the river.
