We spent 4 perfect nights at Cold River Hotel, and can't wait to come back! French owned by a lovely couple named Marion and Rudy, who personally made sure our stay was comfortable and gave us lots of advice on where to eat. We stayed in the homestay next door to the main hotel, and our room was spacious and had a stunning view of the Nam Khan river. The hotel is also conveniently located next door to Utopia, one of the most popular cafe's in Luang Prabang right now. Breakfast was included in our reservation and they provided a choice between eggs/baguette or Lao chicken soup or chicken fried rice, with fresh fruit and a sweet breakfast cake or crepe. The whole spread was delicious, especially the coffee and fresh tropical fruits. On site laundry service makes traveling simple. We completely fell in love with Luang Prabang and this hotel/homestay. Thank you Marion and Rudy for everything!

I spent 4 nights in this hotel while in Luang Prabang.
Lovely location extremely quiet overlooking the Nam Khan river.
I opted for a standard room with balcony. Nice size room with a fridge, a fan an air con. Bathroom is very small and the shower is positioned nearly above the toilet, but it wasn’t a major issue for me.
Balcony is small but set up with two chairs and a little table, so it was very pleasant sitting there.
Breakfast was great and included in the price of my booking.
The owner is a friendly and accommodating French guy, always happy to help. He has set up containers of drinking water everywhere in the hotel for guests to refill their water bottles rather than keep buying plastic bottles. Great idea to help the planet.
Thank you for the hospitality. Will be back next time I visit Luang Prabang.

We stayed at the Cold River for 5 nights and for us it was the perfect place to stay in Luang Prabang. Far enough away from the absolute center to be quiet, but still close enough to reach most places in the center in 10 minutes by foot. We really liked the style of the hotel, all made out of wood and looking very authentic, plus their approach to avoid plastic waste (free refillable water etc). Staff is really nice too and gives great recommendations with regards to restaurants/trips etc. Very recommendable!!

Laid back, inexpensive, bit tired - just like the Town. I don’t mean that in a negative way either. There’s not a lot of fuss to the place and the focus is on being out and about in the area. The owners are very nice and available. The location is a few streets removed from the busier part of town so it’s pretty quiet (except for the neighbor’s rooster) but close enough to walk to where you want to go. Good value for money although I’d lobby for a slightly larger breakfast offering, i.e. juice, cereal option, ...

Spent a few nights here recently and enjoyed it. View of the Nam Khan river is nice and set back from the main road means its quiet. Rooms are as they describe but the bathrooms are worn and the shower was really weak. Breakfast was good, try the chicken noodle soup. The guy who's on reception all night and does the breakfasts is an absolute sweetie and was super helpful. Quick and efficient laundry service on - site/
There's cold water stations on very floor which is a nice touch. Take mossie spray for your room - here are zillions of them!
It's about 15 20 mins walk into town but there are a few restaurants close-by if you don't want to go that far. Great coffee shop "Zurich" 5 mins away.
All in all, a good choice.

Great accommodation, it's down a little side street and our room had views of the river which was beautiful. The French owners put on a fantastic breakfast and make a point of talking to the guests each morning, which is a lovely touch. They were very informative and knowledgeable about the city. The staff also helped us arrange transport etc. It's a great location, only a ten minute walk into the main town where the markets are. Great value for money! The only downside is that the Wifi was not great in our room, so I sometimes had to go to the reception area to get a decent signal.

We stayed 3 nights in January at this hotel and had a very happy stay. The French owners of the hotel went massively out of their way to be hospitable and answered every question we had. The breakfast and way its served is of outstanding quality and something you only have at exclusive hotels. If you stay at this hotel ask for a room with a balcony as we wish we had asked for one. The hotel is very well located for access to the town and various sightseeing sites. Overall very good value for money.

This was a really welcoming guesthouse in a lovely location in a quiet side street within walking distance to the centre of luang Prabang. Our room was lovely and a good size as well as being cozy with nice quirky details added. It had a comfy bed, nice bathroom and lovely balcony. The breakfast was really good and served in the garden which was really nice. The owners were really helpful when we were waiting for transport to go to the next place and even did some calling for us to see when it would arrive. We had a lovely, comfortable and peaceful stay here.

Had a wonderful stay here -- it's a small, family run B&B-style hotel within easy walking distance from town. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated, although for a view you need to stay upstairs (downstairs rooms are a bit dark). Highlights included the friendly staff, amazing breakfast (which is included), free water (which was very helpful given the hot weather at this time of year) and efficient laundry service. They also kindly stored a bag of mine for two nights while I was out trekking on a tour. Would certainly stay again, it's a great deal for a wonderful hotel!

My husband and I, seniors, thoroughly enjoyed our stay of almost a week. The owners for the last 4 years, Veronique and Eric, are long time hospitality professionals and it shows in their management, service, food, renovations. We especially enjoyed our breakfasts in the lovely treed patio area. And our room was fabulous -- a corner room with big windows and an unobstructed river view upstairs in the house (one of a cluster of 3 buildings with 20 rooms). About a 15 minute leisurely walk to almost anywhere on the peninsula, yet quiet and peaceful. We look forward to a return visit!
