Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There are many guest houses in Luang Prabang and we were very pleased with our choice of Knock Knock. Room was spacious and clean with good tv and mini fridge. Location was excellent and Quan at the front desk was helpful in every way. Can't be beat for the price.

Superb location, walking distance from everything important in the town. Very friendly and helpful staff, organising laundry and airport transfer. WiFi excellent (didn’t drop out once - the whole place is a dream for this) and air con fine to get a good nights sleep. Small outdoor seating areas to relax in.

Only downsides - hardest mattress I’ve ever slept on and no way of opening the windows without mozzies getting in (could do with some nets on the curtains) - we spent 3 days with the windows shut and using the lights.
For the price though (80 Aussie Dollars) - very happy.

I stayed here almost 3 weeks (they’ll give you a discount if you book directly with them). Khuan the daytime manager is the one to deal with, super sweet and competent and the place is great value for money in the heart of the old town. The best rooms are upstairs in the back area and you get your own balcony. AC worked very well. Nice separate shower with very hot water. Several options for breakfast included in the room rate. Rooms are large and very clean - the lovely cleaners will come everyday. They organize laundry and taxis/ trips. Overall the place was very quiet for being in the heart of the old quarter (except for the large Vietnamese family who kept shouting at each other across the terrace and whose unmannered kid kept running up the stairs and the 2 german couples who decided to sit in my balcony table and smoke and drink - but you get inconsiderate people in every guest house I guess). All other guests were considerate and quiet. I think if you stay in the main house or downstairs your experience won’t be as good. They let me store my bag for free while I went up north. You can pay by credit card but you have to tell them ahead of time as they keep the machine at another guesthouse.
The negative....
My toilet didn’t flush 2/3 of the time - gross and not even the cleaning staff could fix it.
The coffee was super strong / acidic.but there’s a great coffee hut across the street.
The windows have no screens so you have to close them before 5pm or your room will fill with mosquitoes. You can only use the AC.
Yes the rooms are quite dark inside but the upside is they don’t get hot.
The company they use for kuang si falls is a disaster - crazy driver who shouted on his phone in the car the whole time and took over 40 minutes to pick everyone up (book the tour across the street it’s cheaper).

There's almost no natural light in rooms. On the main floor there's a really bad sewer smell. We booked for 3 nights in room #3 and the smell was even worst so we asked to change room. They were fully booked so it was impossible for the 2 first night but we were supposed to move for the 3rd night but it didn't happen for some complicated reason.
The worst is the included breakfast, a real joke when you compare to the bookings.com breakfest picture they promote....is the same pics of the villa kee lee place!!!

The staff is sweet but sadly incompetent. This owner has other guesthouses around town near the river and it's the same story.

Big room, super comfortable big bed, nice pillows & comforter, with daily cleaning. Ask for an upstairs room where you can open the windows or sit outside on the shared balcony where you have your table & 2 chairs!
