The couple that run the place were really great, they were most helpful and sent us in the right direction with a pretty good standard of English.
The Hotel is in a good location and is an easy walk to anywhere in town and not being in the expensive waterfront district was really good value.
We had a twin room facing the road, which was surprisingly quiet, it was very clean and well serviced.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone

Although we had warned them that we should arrive at about 7am and would leave our bags and check in later, we actually arrived at 4.30am. No problems, the young man took our bags for us and recommend that we should go and see the Monks' alms collecting procession seeing as we were up so early. Brilliant idea and saved us getting up early for what was a bit of a disappointing spectacle for us. After an extensive tour we took up his offer of returning to sit in a communal area or use the pool. We had a nice morning in the sun by the pool.

The staff were all friendly and everyone at reception was completely helpful with advice and trip or transport bookings.

You enter from a fairly busy main road but once inside are in an oasis of calm. Constantly cleaning, the staff keep this spotless. The pool is lovely and we enjoyed lying on the pool beds in the sun.

Breakfast was good, Thai food, cereals, toast & jam, eggs, juice, coffee and tea.

Our room was a good size, opposite a nice relaxing Lily pond feature, quieter than most we've had in Thailand & Laos and had a nice bath/shower.

You can buy cold beers & soft drinks at a good price from the fridge by reception and have a fridge and kettle etc in the bedroom.

We had an excellent stay here, only heard positive comments from other guests and would highly recommend it

Staying at the hotel for 6 nights we get a good impression of everything they do. Great service a lovely breakfast buffet, clean place overal and with attention to detail. The pool a delight to cool down, swim and hang around. The pond by the breakfast area lovely with waterlilies etc. Very central and just enough out of the main tourist area. Good sleeps, quiet nights.

This hotel is very clean and well run. The young couple are so nice and really cant do enough for you. The rooms and beds are what you need after a fun day exploring. The elephant ride tours are hurtful for the elephants and need to stop immediately but recommend visiting the waterfalls (Go early and bring something to swim in) and the sunset river cruise from SaSa. Also check out the night market for some souvenirs. You can rent a scooter at the hotel. There is a great restaurant that supports youth called Khaiphaen. You can look it up on Happy Cow. The best vegan green curry you'll ever have.
Have fun!!

We looked at lots of reviews of hotels on T A before deciding on the Villa Mahasok and we are very pleased indeed to confirm it is genuinely every bit as good as the reviews suggest. It is a marvellous sanctuary from the heat and hubbub of the busy city , and the staff are really outstanding. The rooms, and chill out areas are immaculately clean, the pool is deliciously inviting, and it's great that you can get a beer and a bite there, even though they don’t have an all day menu in the restaurant. Breakfast was lovely, fresh and healthy. We really loved our stay here and would recommend to travellers of all ages.

We had a mixed experience at the Villa and had to laugh at the contrast of our stay to other reviews. The young man checking us in was surly in all interactions, acting as if he was doing us favors. The room was disappointing. Doubles had been sold out so we’d booked a triple that depicted a double bed and a single, but instead we were put in a room with 3 singles. We asked for help pushing two beds together, but unfortunately doing so stirred up a lot of dust which we have bad allergies to and we realized that while the rest of the room was clean it had been a long time since it was cleaned beneath the mattresses and bed frames. Our safe was already locked which took quite awhile for keys to be found to reset it; the bathroom shower head was broken and only trickled; the drain was clogged so despite low shower flow the bathroom flooded; and tp was hung out of reach of the toilet on the other side of the room. The good news is that when we pointed out shower and drain issues repairs were attempted the next day. The buffet bkfst was always cold, but it overlooks a charming little pond of water lotuses which is the best feature of the hotel. There’s also a nice lap pool but be careful which chair you choose as the guy next to me fell through his. The location is a bit of a hike to nearby attractions but doable. Maybe it was just bad luck since other reviews are mostly good.

Our Deluxe Double room was very good, we had a comfortable bed and very good shower. The room had good wifi, air conditioning, a safe and tea & coffee making facilities. Our room came with breakfast which was good and served in a lovely space next to the Lotus pond. On site a 10 metre pool, sun chairs and umbrellas. The staff speak reasonable English. Suggest you book transfers and excursions through the hotel they also provide cheap water and beer.

Smashing little hotel with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Smart rooms, clean, lovely pool and breakfast area. Varied and tasty breakfast included in our price.
Around a 10 - 15 minute walk to the main street with it bustling night market, the Royal Palace (where we enjoyed a performance of the National ballet) and various temples. The atmospheric, colonial river front was a little further beyond. All made for an interesting and safe walk around.
Really, really enjoyed our 3 night stay in Luang Prabang could easily have stayed longer.

When we got to our room we were wondering if we had the right hotel. The room decor is basic and they gave you hard plastic cups in the bathroom. It felt a little shoddy. The breakfast was pretty boring and the food was lukewarm at best. However the location is great and the pool was great. It seems like it is run by four people. We mainly dealt with the front desk staff and they were friendly and very nice. I did end up being charmed by this hotel

Fantastic experience at this hotel. The staff are really friendly and help you out with everything with no fuss at all. We were given welcome drinks & fruit on arrival too which was lovely! We had to spend a couple of pool days here as it was so relaxing. Not too far to walk to the old city, it was perfect!
