main building was once the presidents palace situated beside the Mekong river and breakfast is served across the road from the building over looking the river - very nice breakfast, toast bbq on a barrel. Within walking distance of night market, museum, mt phousi and bamboo bridges plus water taxis. Comfortable room in annex. Staff really helpful and lovely keen to practice their English and interesting to talk to re culture of Laos

What a lovely hotel, it is scattered over a few buildings. The room we had was ample and clean, with a balcony overlooking the Mekong River from across the road. The breakfast is taken riverside, just a beautiful location! Loved the way the fresh bread is toasted, over a barrel of hot charcoal!
Thanks to the manager, Mr Thongdam, and all the staff for making our visit a memorable one.
The hotel is about 5 minutes walking distance to the main street, where there are plenty of restaurants, pubs, fruit vendors, and markets! There are plenty of massage places too.
We walked over the bamboo bridge, about a 10 minute walk from the hotel, and then over the old French bridge.
Luang Prabang is a beautiful town, and staying at this hotel, you are in the heart of it all!

The hotel is very friendly and welcoming. Our river view room had a large bed, fridge, TV, kettle and air conditioning which was very effective. The shower room was quite large with toiletries included. Position is great for exploring Luang Prabang and walking by the river. Breakfast is in a lovely riverside spot, served in a pleasant way with fresh fruits, eggs and toast and cereal.
There is very little storage space for clothes etc. and only 3 hangers.

Sala Prabang has two properties a few doors apart, each characterised by bouganvillea. Check in seems to be at the main property while we were in the second one. It is a converted house (that's normal for Luang Prabang). There are various steps and stairs which might be difficult for the elderly. The room was spotless with a comfortable bed, modest facilities and a good, hot shower. Breakfast is served on a river side terrace across the road offering a simple. but satisfying selection and nice views of river life. A number of other riverside restaurants are also within a short walking distance. Temples, boat rides, the Palace and so on are also just minutes away on foot..

Fabulous little hotel in Luang Prbang across the road from the great Mekog River. Suri - maybe Souri - was knowledgeable, helpful & friendly, providing invaluable local information. Breakfast was a highlight, situated in an open air cafe opposite the hotel, with views of the river & great coffee. The hotel is within walking distance to the main streets & restaurants.

This was my first trip to Luang Prabang and I could not of been made more welcome, 3 nights at the Sala Prabang was magical. I had a good size room with a balcony looking on to the Mekong, the bed was comfortable and I had everything I needed in my room. The breakfast outside looking onto the Mekong was great and substantial. There are two members of the team I would like to give a special mention to and they are Chomsy and Sing Thong, you could not meet more helpful and friendly hotel staff. It has been a pleasure Sala Prabang and for a first time visitor to Luang Prabang I would highly recommend this hotel.

I choose this hotel due to the decoration style and location also now rate is good. Hotel is small but convenient, location is great ; nearby by the river and tourist attractions. Staff service is excellent, all are very helpful with smile. Room is good, clean but wall and ceiling need to touch up.
Breakfast is not variety, I prefer to have local foods outside the hotel.

The pictures are a little misleading. The room I had was smaller than that advertised in the pictures. The room was also a little old and dated but they do have a certain charm.

The key thing about the hotel is the location. It is very short walking distance to everything, making it ideal for sightseeing.

Wonderful hotel with this price line. Located along Khong river and a few walk from night market and Phousi mountain. Staff is friendly and helpful, room is compact, clean, functional. Bed is a bit hard. Bathroom separate shower and toilet. Overall is good.

Do you have a email address as want to request a room with a balcony
Answer from naiyanghappy
Nai Yang, Thailand263 contributions93 helpful votes
In my answer they will not let me enter an email address so you can contact me directly if you wish through T A. there are many houses that are owned by this hotel so you could be put in anyone of them but l would suggest that you ask for Baan Lao say you were recommended by us if you want. It is two storey and faces the Mekong river the upper rooms have a balcony and are twin bedded, that is what we took, but the lower rooms have a lovely large patio. Upper room you get more of a view l am sure you will enjoy this hotel and l recommend Tangor for a meal even if its just a snack see my review from last September. We go every year to Luang Prabang and love the place. Best regards Trish naiyanghappy .......
