We did not know what to expect and upon arriving were stunned with every detail of this historic hotel. From the moment you step into the main lobby you cannot take your eyes off the treasures that are abundant in this hotel. Built towards the end of the 19th century and has been in function ever since. I can write...

Hotel was terrible: changed room 3 times! First one as the sheets were wet (leaking roof), second one had no water. Third one was supposed to have everything, but there was no water and it was freezing... To heat up the room, there was an old coal heating device. Had to get an oil lamp to the room for lighting......

Jean Cocteau use to stay here and, among many other interesting little gems, there are numerous JC sketches on the walls - including in the bedrooms. A real treat if you are a fan. This hotel is over 130 years old and it feels it - if you like real faded grandeur, not the newly fabricated regenerated or pastiche style...

Sometimes without hot watter, electricity and toilet in top conditions this hotel is not for common tourists. On the other hand every real traveler in the area must spend at least one night in this charmy old hotel. With its location just across the road from the magnificent roman temples of the old Heliopolis, Jean Cocteau`s drawings on the walls...

I have been to 44 countries, across Siberia, in the bazaars of Iran, the carnivale in Rio, forgotten towns in central Africa, however, nothing equals what can be experienced at the Hotel Palmyra. Ahmed, the cook there since 1955, can regale you with tales of the Shah, Ella Fitzgerald and the Prince of Abyssinia (who rented the whole hotel and...

I think this must have been a great hotel 60-80 years ago, but now it has only real value for people who crave for the atmosphere of that era. Service is ok, breakfast could be better, facilities are worn down,... Should be restored to its old glory, beautiful building.

This hotel is worth for its history and the experience of living in a mid XX century hotel that has not been refurbished since its glorious times. Do not expect good comfort , hot water day round and heating. You will love it because nowhere else you can live the life of a mid xx century traveler and you will...

When you enter the Palmyra Hotel, you will be convinced that time-travel exists. The Palmyra Hotel has a long and rich history and for a large part, the hotel and its staff chose to continue to live in the past. We always thought this was as close as you can get to a Agatha Christie detective novel. Most visitors will...

Just had a memorable trip to the Palmyra. Was anxious after reading some rough review on Trip Advisor but a Lebanese friend insisted we go. So glad we did. The old building is a little mustier and tired, so go for the annex! First of all. They're ain't many options in Baalbeck. Most people are doing day trips to get...
