Welcome to Yi Family Homestay & Bungalows Our Homestay opened its gate in 2017 with the goal of immersing visitors in a village atmosphere just minutes from Siem Reap town and Angkor Wat. We offer hygienic, secure and private accommodations for all guests, including children and pets. Accomodations range from stilt cottages, studio-sized apartments (most with kitchenettes), and cozier budget units in our traditional family home. Our homestay is also a permaculture farm operated by three generations of the Yi family. We have livestock, fruit trees, vegetable gardens and an abundance of foliage, which enhances the natural ambience as well as guests‘ privacy. Our focus on sustainable living – through solar energy, recycling and composting – demonstrates our commitment to protecting the natural treasures of Siem Reap. Our intimate knowledge of the province – and affinity with local communities – ensures we deliver time- and cost-saving services to every guest, while opening fresh pathways to the indelible spirit of one of the world’s most transformative destinations.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed 3 nights at the Yi family's home stay in January 2020. What a lovely family! The food we ate was delicious. The room was very reasonable $8/ night), clean, a nice porch out front. It is so interesting to see what Sam is doing with his land, using permaculture principles. They have lots of fruit trees, a fish pond, ducks. I really enjoyed staying here.

We loved staying with Sam’s family at their beautiful property on the edge of Siem Reap. The whole family was so friendly and helpful and made our stay in Siem Reap so great. Our bungalow room was big and clean, our bed comfortable and we could see out across the countryside from our own deck. You will not regret staying with this lovely family.
Family Homestay is just a $3 tuk tuk from town.

We stayed for a few days at the Family Homestay. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Plenty of very helpful advice that we really appreciated. Room was lovely and clean with lots of space. There were quite a few mosquitos but these things can't be avoided, there was a mosquito net in the room, so bring your mosquito repellent. Don't let this put you off had a lovely time here and great time out on bike ride with the bikes available at the homestay.

i spend almost 1 Week in Sams Homestay and i enjoyed every single day.
The property is beautiful with lush greens and many fruits growing in the garden.
There is a fully equiped kitchen where you can cook for yourself or order some delicious fresh cooked meals.
There is a beautiful sunset terrace in the garden with a stunning view over the rice fields.
Will be back for sure if i am in Siem Reap again!

Thank you!

We had such an amazing time staying here and spending time with the Yi family. You are made to feel at home right away and feel like a real part of Cambodian culture - we certainly learnt a lot. The rooms have everything you need - comfy bed and a fan so it doesn't get too hot, and shower/toilet facilities just outside. You get the chance to have food with the family everyday which is great as you know you are eating local food, cooked by locals! We tried some amazing dishes, where most of the ingredients come straight from the garden.

They helped show us the best places to visit in Siem Reap, and we got involved with some activities we would not have had the chance to do if we hadn't stayed here - such as joining the mother of the family for a monk offering in the morning.

Overall, the family are just lovely and I'm sure it will remain one of the highlights of our trip. We are so happy we chose to come to this homestay and I can't imagine anyone leaving and feeling differently.

Thank you to the Yi family for taking are of us and welcoming us into your home for a week! You are fantastic.
