Siem reap is full of dodgy and overpriced places and it's hard to find a clean and legit place. Smileys guesthouse is one of these rare places that indeed live up to its name, it's clean and the staff was very friendly for the affordable price of $10/15 (fan/ac) for a private double room. Save yourself time and money, stay... More

This hostel is very central, just a few minutes walk to restaurants and "beer street". It's clean and quiet. You can have your breakfast, lunch, dinner here but take a walk out on the street there are many good options and better prices. You write what you take in your own book, drinks, food etc, and pay when you check... More

I cannot begin to express how unhelpful and rude the family who own this guesthouse are. They clearly don't care about the customer once they have your money. rooms are dark and dirty. It's one thing to not take care of your customers. it's another thing to be overtly rude. I left after two days having never felt angrier or... More

I see many reviews about how bad it is. I enjoyed my stay here, came from a cheap hostel were I hadn't slept well. So I was happy to pay 8 dollar a night for 2 nice nights of sleep. The staff is very friendly and the room I had was OK. Nothing to complain about.

We read the smiley's guesthouse was a good place for backpackers few years ago but it's not anymore. Old and dark room, with noisy fan, bad water evacuation and when you ask staff to change room they are rude and agressive. Definitly not the right place to enjoy Siem Reap.

We were brought here from another guesthouse. The reception workers where not pleasant and uninterested in us being there ! We were shown our 'room' . We opened the door and it smelt incredibly bad musty , dirty, stuffy horrible ! We then noticed the tiny room with 2 beds and a foam mattress on the floor . Without a... More

My Bf & I traveled to Siem reap this year during the chinese new year only to find all guest houses & hostels totally sold out. Luckily we met a french traveler who suggested Smileys. We paid 10$ per night for a room with minimal amenities though the bathroom's are extremely small with no hot water and no air conditioner.... More

When I arrived at Smiley's guesthouse the people behind reception were really pushing me to pay for the upgrade, I declined as I had reserved a double room with a fan, they gave me the key for C7 and I was disgusted. There were dead mosquitos on the dirty bending and there was no toilet seat and no shower, even... More

We read the not so fantastic reviews of this guesthouse, but truly were after a place to rest our heads whilst in SR so figured we could be forgiving if need be. Im sad to say the negative reviews of this place, are all true. The staff are certainly NOT smiling, we were met with the same scam another reviewer... More

The guesthouse we had booked had double booked our room and so we had to go to another guesthouse for the night, which happened to be Smiley's. It certainly is not Smiley at all, you are greeted by a notice on your room door which along with other do and don'ts stated that 'we cannot be held responsible for loss... More

“Go to an other hotel or guesthouse. Prepare your stay in Siem Reap especially in peak season. Have a look at the reviews and read between the lines. Than you will find a very nice temporary home in Siem Reap for every budget.”

“Maybe try and get a room which does not face the front of the guesthouse as there is alot of noise in the mornings and the sun is bright!”

“I only paid $5 USD/ night for a good size room with a full bed, fan, and private bathroom. There is also the option of getting essentially the same room with air-con and hot water for $15/ night, but I'd rather save the extra $10... it goes a long way in Cambodia. I even mentioned Smiley's in my travel blog entry for Siem Reap... http://blakesworld211.blogspot.com/.”
