    We booked just 30 minutes before arriving as another booking agent let us down. Good size standard rooms, maybe a little worn around the edges. Communal areas have been mordenised but maybe to the chinese standards and dont look quite finished. Breakfast adequate, even drinkable coffee albeit from a machine. Just 14 yuan to Suzhou station, dont ven think about...

    I've stayed in Scholars twice, and what I liked best is that it seemed very authentic and traditional Chinese, with the room and hotel decor, which was different from the more expensive hotels like Renaissance and Holiday Inn which are more cosmopolitan. Rooms are clean and adequately sized, and there are quaint Chinese artifacts all around the room whick make...

    There are several Scholars' Inns - perhaps related? perhaps on same St? i think mine was 277 Jingde Lu ? Taxi driver had a hard time finding it - it's very close to a Children's Hospital. Great hotel. Great deal for the $. Pleasant, quiet, comfortable. I had lost my passport on the way to the hotel and the staff...
