This was a brief one night visit during a visit to the nearby Jiling University. The hotel and meal service was very good. It was quite cold outside, and I didn't have much time but the grounds are quite nice. Other reviewers have mentioned the high security when dignitaries visit, but fortunately that wasn't the case for mine. We had...

My husband and I visited Changchun and stayed at the hotel for closed to 10 nights in September 2016. The room is spacious and clean. Felt very safe as the hotel is guarded by police officers, 24/7. Traveling to downtown is very convenient as the public transport is very affordable at RMB $1 per trip and rather efficient. There's room...

The hotel is located in the South Lake Park, which is beautiful in Spring and Summer. The rooms are clean and well equipped with all the amenities you need. The service staff doesn't speak much English but are mostly friendly and try to be accommodating and helpful.

We were in Changchun for a business meeting, and our hosts booked us into the South Lake Hotel. We found a really nice hotel. The guest rooms were well appointed and very comfortable. We found the breakfast buffet to be quite extensive and delicious. While I understand that it is a state operated facility, if you can get get in,...

We stayed in a large, columned building. The hotel lobby could have had more seating, but this is a minor complaint. Our room faced the woods, so in the morning, we awakened to a deer peering through the window, birds singing, and ducks quacking. The hotel was so quiet, we might have thought we were the only guests if it...

I stayed here for 4 nights for a conference in Changchun. I was told that political dignitaries stay here when they visit this city including Kim Jong Il. As a state hotel, it is very grand with communistic architecture. Basically, huge columns, high ceiling, grand entrances showing strength and stability. There are two military guards on the South Gate main...

I recently stayed here for three nights in the main building to attend a conference. The hotel is somewhat far from the downtown Changchun and is fairly difficult to go from the airport. Perhaps, taxi is the only way that may connect directly, although I took an airport shuttle and then took a bus (No. 6) (per suggestion of the...

I've stayed there quite some times, I was also living in the neighbouring 'VW-village' for some years. Without a car it is bad to get out of there and unless you know someone living there, I really do not know any reason to stay in this Hotel. The service is better anywhere else, there is nothing nearby/walking distance, and it...

If you are in Changchun and want to discover luxury and exclusiveness like Diao Yu Tai in Beijing, and willing to pay around US $400 per night, then do book into the South Lake Hotel. Beside a lake, lushly wooded, and furnished par none, this Hotel is designed as an enclave of bungalows plus one block of multi-storey hotel rooms....

As a visiting guest of a local University, I was booked into this hotel. It must be the quietest hotel I have ever stayed at - the staff are almost invisible, and yet attend to your every need. So polite. Only eaten in one of the many restaurants once, and the food was very nice - Jilin province food is...
