Luxury hotel with great service and amenities. Hotel seems brand new, room with ocean views, a really good restaurant, I dined with my fiance and parents all ordered different plates and all were delightful. Highly recomend the catch of the day and grilled octopus. There are 2 pools one all adults on floor 14 and the other on the 12th floor which was our favorite as it is much bigger and the bar is right next to the pool. The wind I must say was annoying and they do need heavier chairs as in 2 occasions the wind picked up and they ended in the pool. Room was very nice and spacious, I do recommend that if you like wine to pick up a couple at the local beverage store as they are not of high quality at the hotel and are unreasonably priced. Buffett breakfast is also over priced but if you choose the a la carte option they have some really good dishes at a very comfortable price I highly recommend "Calentado" Hotel was in a convenient location for us as we went to "La Ciudad Amurallada" every day where you will experience the true magic and ambiance of Cartagena, taxi drive maybe 5 minutes from the closest entrance. I must add that if you like to spend a beach day where you won't be hassled by vendors every single second, check out the beach at "Castillo Grande" it is so much calmer you could get a cabana with four chairs as low as $25,000 pesos you will have to bargain a but but you shouldn't pay more than $30,000.

My family and I stayed at the Hyatt for 6 nights at the holidays. It was our first visit to Cartagena. We had a suite on the 22nd floor facing the ocean, which was very spacious for three people. It came with Regency lounge access, which was well worth it. The lounge in the 30th floor had a plentiful breakfast with hot and cold options and fresh juice. There were snacks during the day and a happy hour each night with terrific hors d’ouvres and wine. The lounge staff are terrific - Alex and Ingrid stand out in particular. Ingrid is professional and very helpful, checking us out and helping us book a day trip to Isla Grande in the Rosario Islands. There are several pools on different levels, all facing the ocean with views from up high. Floating lounge chairs are a nice touch, and it was not difficult to get a seat in the sun or the shade. Service at the hotel is terrific and everyone is very polite and professional.

The hotel is located in the Bocagrande neighborhood, outside of the old city but an easy and inexpensive $3-5 cab ride away. It’s about 15 minutes from the airport. There is a mall next door and a supermarket right behind the hotel, both of which came in handy during our stay.

Only negatives: towels in the bathroom are surprisingly rough and not at all luxurious. And the trip that was recommended to Isla Grande was disappointing - the beach was small and rocky, and it took forever to get off the island, followed by a jarringly bumpy boat ride back. Other travelers we met described better trips to Rosario Islands, so Hyatt may want to reconsider the tour operator it recommends.

We were originally schedule to spend four nights at the Hyatt Regency. On the third day, we loved the hotel and the city so much that we decided to push our flights back to stay an extra night!

We were visiting Cartagena for a family wedding. Most of the attendees stayed in the historic portion of the city. I am certainly glad that we decided to stay in Boca Grande, and more specifically the Hyatt Regency. The Hyatt delivers amazing views of the sea, the bay, and of the city. The rooms are very tastefully designed and deliver a sense of true comfort. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the food onsite was very good (although, we did wish that the restaurant was open on Sunday evenings). We spent quite a bit of time at the pool, which was very pleasant (when the sun was out--otherwise could be a bit cold). There are several pool options between the adults only pool, the kids pool, and the main pool.

For us, the location of the hotel was perfect. It was right at the beginning of Boca Grande so you didn't have to deal with the congestion of getting further south as is the case with some of the hotels in this area. We could be in the city within 5 minutes with a cab ride that only cost around $3 USD.

Between the service, value, and location, we will definitely return to this hotel when we return to Cartagena!

I honestly do not know where to begin. I’m trying to write this review I tried to be unbiased but overall I had of thoroughly good experience. The hotel is located in the Bocagrande section of Cartagena. There are not too many attractions in walking distance aside from the beach. You can go to the wall city and it will cost you about five mill Colombian pesos if you go by taxi. If you decide to walk around there is a grocery store behind the hotel and several little convenient stores about a block or two away. One thing to know is a bow 4 to 5 blocks south from the hotel is Where it gets super busy and touristy as there are a lot of restaurants, bars, excursion shops, etc. The hotel offers amazing views as all the rooms are from the 12th floor and up. Although many people may want an ocean view room, a bay view facing room may actually be better. Depending on where your room is situated you may not be able to see the beach and all you will see is the vast almost never ending ocean which was the case for me. With the bay facing rooms, you can see ships in the harbor and see the city. The hotel has a modest gym but not many people actually use it. There are three pools that face the ocean which are amazing. My only con is the food selection. In the morning you have the option of taking advantage of the buffet or ordering off a menu. After 11:30am it closes until the following day. That then leaves you to either eat bar food by the pool and sun deck with views of the city. The only other in door restaurant has a very limited menu and bit more pricey.

We had an excellent experience and time at the Hyatt in Cartagena. The hotel itself is beautiful, comfortable and welcoming. The staff is very accommodating, professional, warm and super nice. This has been the best staff we have meet while traveling. It really exceeded out expectations.  Adriana from reservations helped us coordinate a very large group of 32 people, with multiple reservations so we could be located in rooms nearby.

The bellman (botones) Bernardo, Juan y Miguel, were very helpful and nice, always prompt to assist us when needed. And recognizing us by saying "hi" whenever we passed the lobby.

The breakfast restaurant in floor 12 was exceptional; the food was always good and the variety was perfect to accommodate everyone, I wouldn't change anything. We had excellent service from all staff, for they learned our names and as soon as we walked in, Genesis and Laura welcomed us and made us feel at home. Juan, the supervisor, always ensured we sat together and we were taken care of.  Diomalda, Yulieth, Alexis y Lenys took care of us every morning during breakfast, taking our orders and helping us clean after the kids made a mess.

The pool area was amazing, kids and adults alike had a blast. Robinson, Favian and Oscar took very good care of us there.
One night we planned a celebration at the pool area, the Amacagua restaurant, and José Luis Rodriguez coordinated it beautifully, he took care of the dinner plans and the cake for the birthday celebration, making it stress free for us.

Also, Camilo, the concierge, helped us organize so many activities and tours, making everything so much easier and enjoyable.

In house keeping, the cleaning staff did an excellent job cleaning our rooms: 1912 and 3202. Their names skip my mind, but my sons were happy, they even folded the clothes of a messy teenager!!!

The Spa staff was also very nice and did a great job. We really enjoyed the couple's massage with the Mama Mia included for my pregnant wife. And my inlaws who said, "this was the best massage they have ever gotten."

The only thing I am disappointed about, is that the rooms' hallways were much warmer than the elevators and actual guest rooms. We had family in floors 19, 23, and 32, and they all reported the common areas in their floors being hot. I thought the air conditioning (AC) was off, but one employee confirmed there are no ACs. Only floors 39, 40, 41, and 42 have them. For the amount of money spent at this Hyatt location, one would expect for the common areas in guest floors to feel comfortable and cool. For example, the AC temperature in the 12 floor was welcoming and enjoyable. But when I went to my room in the 32th floor, I strongly disliked the walk from the elevator to my room, for how hot it was! If ACs are impossible to install in guest hallways, perhaps installing celling fans may help to improve this dilemma (lack of AC).

We are the type of travelers who like views, a good pool, good food, the ability to walk to everything and good service. The Hyatt Regency in Cartagena delivered on all five points. Daniela in particular was outstanding. It was our anniversary/valentines day and she helped my husband with a wonderful surprise in our room when we arrived. She also was great at making recommendations for good restaurants and other areas we might want to explore. We emailed her throughout our stay and she would get right back to us. The building is very secure and we never felt unsafe anywhere we went in Cartagena. The staff who took care of the food in the Club room was also very good - friendly and responsive to anything you need. The only thing that needs work at the Hyatt is the service at the pool. We had a little trouble getting their attention. We looked at staying in the walled city and staying in Bocagrande and are happy that we chose Bocagrande because we could get anywhere within a few minutes and for us, a view and pools is important. There is also a running/walking path that goes along the Bay that we utilized for our daily runs. We booked a residence room with a balcony facing the bay. Only certain residence rooms have balconies. I would highly recommend the Bay view as we loved facing the city and seeing the lights at night. Although you could walk to the walled city, we chose to take a taxi because it is so easy and cheap (about $3.00).

Hotel was clean and comfortable and most of the staff was pleasant and helpful.

Three things stand out in my mind which is the horrible concierge service as they did not bother to revert to me on any requests for my 5 nights stay and nor were they ever available. Secondly, the doorman at the front door negotiated a price with the taxi during my first night which was 3x the normal rate. Finally, I felt being treated more like a college spring breaker than someone paying over usd 500 per room night

A stunning hotel in a great location. The staff are super helpful and friendly the hotel itself is immaculately kept and very modern. We were staying in an Ocean View King Room which was superb, very well laid out with excellent en-suite facilities and stunning views over the Sea. 3 great swimming pools, one children's, one general and one adults only. Only thing I would say whilst outside, the pools ore on the 11th or 12th floors so can be a little breezy up there, but considering the temperatures in Cartagena, that is welcome and not an issue at all.

In terms of location, just 10 or 15 minute drive from the airport to the hotel, there is a large shopping mall next door, a supermarket around the corner, and its just a 10 or 15 minute walk into the old town so really convenient in all regards.

I will finish this review this way, If I was going back to Cartagena this is where I will be staying, and I can give no higher recommendation than that.

I read and was told to stay in the historic center, but this hotel is less than 10 minutes away. You can travel easily by taxi for 10,000 pesos ($3 USD). Being outside the center you get more bang for your buck as this hotel has everything you want in a hotel at a very reasonable price.

Everything about our stay was 100% perfect.
We stayed for 8 nights over Christmas and New Year, and enjoyed every moment. Our room on the 18th floor was comfortable and had a full view of the ocean.
We upgraded to the Regency club and had a delicious breakfast and happy hour with snacks every day. The staff in the club are kind and very generous with the offerings. Of note are Danielle, Alex, and Diana, as well as the 2 other young men who work in the lounge. I looked forward to seeing them daily. I highly recommend upgrading to a club room. .
The staff are by far the warmest, kindest, friendliest, most helpful hotel staff I've ever met. We have only Discoverist status (2nd tier out of 4) with Hyatt but we were treated like VIPs every single day.
The infinity pools have a view of the shoreline, as well as bars and food service. The heated adult pool is especially relaxing. Even though it's right there, you're won't want to go to the beach, as the sand is hard and the local hawkers are pretty aggressive.
There is a 4-floor mall next door and huge supermarket and shopping street behind the hotel. The walled city is a 10-min cab or 25 min walk away. Ask the concierge to negotiate your fare. The cab drivers are notorious for gouging tourists, Uber doesn't work, and Lyft doesn't exist.
I can't reiterate enough how perfect my stay was at Hyatt Regency Cartagena. The people, location and property make this hotel so wonderful. It's definitely one of the top Hyatt hotels in the world.

I had the breakfast included and that was a great move as it had a good variety and was delicious. I personally declined the all inclusive because I wanted to try different restaurants & I had been told how fresh & great the food was & that I was glad I did. If you plan to spend most of your time in the hotel, then go for it but if you want to explore the city, opt out... that's my advice.

I'm not sure they have a "nightly security deposit". At check-in, they just charged an authorization to my card for about $250 US for each room I booked.

Yes it's a very lovely hotel. The staff are very accommodating. I'm sure if you ask at th front desk, they would provide the connecting rooms. Also, out front there are lots of vendors and sales persons. If you need a gift or hat, ask for Yosef (Joseph with a Y.) He is super reasonable and very helpful.
