This hotel is so accommodating and located in a perfect neighborhood from which to visit the historical center of Medellin. The welcome juice was so refreshing after a long flight and they had our room prepared to welcome us with lovely music, room lighting, and anything else we might need. Truthfully, it was quite romantic. The swimming pool is an oasis and the staff will assist with whatever question or need for tours that you might have.

Don't wait -- book a room in this small boutique hotel walking distance to everything you want to see in the walled city of Cartagena. And, it's very close to the San Diego and Getsemani neighborhoods as well. In Getsemani, do an art tour with alternativetravelcartagena.com. We had Luis and he was a great guide. The hotel rooms are well appointed and quiet. We had room #209, a junior suite and it was a nice size. You will likely love, and need, the serenity of the hotel's quiet courtyard, which is where all the rooms face, after being in the lively and vibrant city. Throughout the cobblestone streets (careful with heels or if you have mobility issues, since there are cracks and uneven sidewalks with holes and gaps throughout the city) you will find tourists, horse drawn carriages, musicians, street vendors, fruit vendors and taxis milling about. So the hotel is a wonderful repose. The breakfasts are excellent and included in your stay. The front desk staff and manager all speak excellent English. The hotel also can organize private tours to the beach and other places. They organized one for us to Playa Blanca/Isla Baru and we were so glad we did it through the hotel and a private driver. When walking the streets in Cartagena, you will be inundated with vendors trying to sell you a tour to the beaches. The boats are actually like small sardines with forty people in small boats on very windy seas, especially in January. But, we learned there is a way to go to one beach via land: Playa Blanca/Isla Baru. Go with the hotel's private guide - Albaro. He uses google translate to communicate in English. He is really so nice and we felt very safe with him. He took us to Playa Blanca/Baru, and when you get there, you will find hundreds of people, cramped and grimy. But, he had a small boat take us on a five minute ride to a much calmer area (Banana Beach) where we swam, lounged and ate fresh fish. Albaro watched our things the entire time. Marisol, at the front desk, arranged the private tour with Albaro. She will contact him on your behalf and he will be with you the entire day. Since the Aviary is right next to Baru, we also went there after the beach. As a side note, if you don't get out of the city and want to cool off, the hotel pool is open 24 hours and, with an average temperature of 95 degrees the entire week we were there, it's a nice option. The hotel is one of the best we've stayed in throughout all of our travels.

My wife and I has the pleasure of staying at Casa Del Arzobispado for 5 nights. It was perfect! The location couldn’t be better. The hotel is close to great restaurants and beautiful shops but far enough from the nightlife. We opted for the Grand Suite, situated at the back of the hotel on the second floor. It was GRAND! So much space to relax and spread out. We even did some workouts in the room. The hotel is stunning!! And such a perfect oasis in a bustling area. Having the pool and rooftop area to relax was fantastic. And the service was outstanding! Most staff spoke enjoy very well. The breakfast was nice but the best part was being attached to the cafe, Epoca, next door. They made great lattes (and had almond milk for my wife) and delicious cocktails that you could enjoy by the pool and charge to your room. We didn’t eat at Epoca but the menu and dishes looked delicious. If you go to Cartagena, staying at Casa Del Arzobispado is a must!

My friend and I greatly enjoyed our one-week stay in this charming , 10 room hotel located in the center of the historic district. The hotel is perfectly situated behind the main cathedral and within walking of many shops, restaurants , churches and 16th c. wall that surrounds the old city, The fully renovated building is constructed around a lush , plant filled courtyard containing a swimming pool. The interior is decorated with gorgeous, colonial era antiques. Although the menu was small , we found the included breakfast to be delicious. The service was also very good. The adjacent cafe offers delicious cocktails and meals. The spa treatment were also very good.. Our junior suite was attractive, spacious, clean and comfortable. It contained both a safe and a mini fridge. Our only complaint about the room was that it overlooked the street which tended to be a bit noisy in the evening. The staff at the hotel is wonderful Marisol and Jamie, in particular, couldn't have been more friendly, patient and helpful. If I were to suggest one area of the hotel could improve upon, it would be to make a greater effort to reply to email inquiries regarding airport transportation. All in all, my friend and I highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again in a heartbeat. Room Comment Room 205 overlooks the street

It’s a good property but in this price range we have received a lot more attentive service. The folks were friendly but seemed unorganized and inexperienced. We only stayed one night and were happy to not have booked more nights for when we return to Cartagena later in the week.

Humbly, I write that this is the first high end and one of the best hotels I have stayed in! And, it was the best decision to put my money here. We arrived early due to the airline changing our flight. However, the hotel staff were welcoming and began part of the check in process. They allowed us to leave our luggage in the lobby when we wanted to get a bite to eat, and the luggage remained safe when we returned. Personally, for me, the hotel is gorgeous and breathtaking with the gardens, decor, and pool. All the staff are kind and respectful, even when they are busy. They guide and teach you how to open the door to your room, and we did not have any trouble with this as some have commented. Rooms were comfortable and cozy. Bathroom felt luxurious and showering felt a like I was under a water fall. The breakfast at Epoca was excellent and we really enjoyed their coffee. The spa massage service was equally excellent and worth it! You may ask the staff at the time of check out to call a taxi if you need transportation to the airport. Lastly, we were amazed how quiet and peaceful this hotel is despite the liveliness happening in Cartagena. We highly recommend this hotel!

We really enjoyed our visit to Cartegena and loved staying in this relaxing authentic small hotel filled with lovely antiques. During Covid - everyone wore masks and I liked the fact that it was a smaller hotel and not over crowded. It was a peaceful and relaxing płace to return to every evening . Breakfast was generous and delicious and hotel staff friendly, professional and helpful. Daniel helped us with restaurant reservations and additional information for Cartegena activities and he was very professional and pleasant, and he organized everything for us wonderfully. Had a massage and it was excellent too. I loved this place and would highly recommend it.

We stayed here for 4 nights and it was perfect. The room was spotless and had a minibar, safe, robes and slippers. The hotel has beautiful old features like paintings and furniture but it was very very comfortable and the shower was excellent. The staff were very very helpful and organised a couple of trips for us. Breakfast was lovely and it was served in a beautiful room. Tremor (sorry if I got his name wrong) was on hand every morning to serve us and nothing was a problem for him. The cafe/bar attached to the hotel is also very relaxing and the staff here were also very nice and pleasant and they served up some exceptionally good coffee. A wonderful hotel with wonderful staff.

My partner and I came to Cartagena for 3 nights. We opted for this hotel and we are glad we did. The perfect blend of colonial history and modern comforts (air con is a necessity here!), we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Breakfast was in a lovely restaurant attached to the hotel, the staff were friendly and courteous.

We also enjoyed the couples massage, the quality of the massage was very good and represented value for money and made our relaxing experience at the hotel even better!

It is certainly a beautiful building in the heart of the old town which made walking around very enjoyable. The access to and daily credit for Epoca Cafe is a very nice perk. The hotel feels very secure and is a nice oasis from the busy-ness of the streets.
However:
The night we arrived, we were picked up by a driver our hotel arranged. We paid the driver and went into the hotel. The hotel staff member was very upset we paid the driver instead of the hotel (he had not told us to do so) and tried to make us pay again (we did not). When he finally showed us to our room, he informed us they provide two half-size water bottles per stay (not per night) and you would have to pay for additional. He left and I realized he hadn't provided the wifi password. I had to go back down to the desk to ask as it was nowhere in the room. When I got back to the room, my spouse informed me there was no water (sink or shower). I went down and the staff member seemed unsurprised but said to wait 10-15 minutes and the water would come back on. Waited 20 minutes and still no water. Went down and the staff member said the pump was broken and someone would come in the morning to fix it but there would be no water for the night. They never refused to discount or refund our stay despite having no water at all. Also, the entrance requires staff to buzz you in, which is great for security, but they were often not at the desk and you'd have to wait until someone happened by to let you in. When we were checking out, the staff member was incredibly rude, again refused to discount our night without water, and was excessively pushy about the pocket change we owed from spending over our credit at the cafe. Then he called a taxi nearby for us and the taxi to the airport cost 1/4 of what we were charged for pickup. No wonder they were upset we paid the driver. Despite the nice aspects of the hotel, I would NOT recommend staying here whatsoever.

Dear Reviewer, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay at our hotel. We truly appreciate your detailed review as it helps us identify areas for improvement. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during your stay, particularly regarding the water issue and the interaction with our staff. This is certainly not the level of service we strive to provide to our guests. Rest assured, we have addressed these issues with our team to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future. Regarding the water situation, we understand how frustrating it must have been to not have access to basic amenities. We have taken immediate action to rectify the problem and have implemented measures to prevent such occurrences moving forward. We also apologize for any miscommunication regarding payment for the driver and the WiFi password. We will reinforce our procedures to ensure that all necessary information is provided to our guests upon check-in. In regards to the attitude of our staff member during check-out, we deeply regret any rudeness you encountered. We hold our team to the highest standards of professionalism and courtesy, and we will be conducting additional training to address this issue. We genuinely value your feedback, and we hope that you will consider giving us another opportunity to exceed your expectations during your next visit to our city. Warm regards, Daniel Ortega
