I stayed here because I received a deal from a previous stay in another location. I was a little hesitant because it looks like a 'young people's place'. It is - that's true. But Cartagena is so in the middle of it all A walk to the clock tower and old town, a walk to a delightful neighborhood of shopping outside of old town, a walk to the marina where you can take boat trips to the islands. It's really fabulous and the rooms are good for any need. The upstairs bar and restaurant is great and so is the bartender. The rooms across the street where the Suite + are was not available in the same fashion it might normally be and that restaurant/bar was not open. Check however if you're going there. Balconies in the room and the bar restaurant has an even better view of the marina and the old town.

Food here has been great, really yummy options to pick from. One thing I did notice is that service takes a while. In the mornings if you are working and need to start early I wouldn’t suggest eating here. It takes roughly 1:40 minutes. It would be nice if they had designated tables for remote workers or and option to pre order food.

Much appreciated this Selina location. The front desk was super friendly about everything we needed. Bed was firm with super soft linens. The included breakfast was tasty, and the rooftop bar and pool is super sweet. Fast Wi-Fi and a great location made for an excellent stay.

We did book at Selina Cartagena because of the nice pictures of the colourful rooms and atmosphere they are showing in your marketplace. Once arrived the welcome has been very poor and the facilities dirty (the sofa in the lobby and and the toilets in the lobby are disgusting) and the rooms unacceptable: no windows , dark, dingy. As an alternative they did propose a second room which was also inadmissible.
In order not to lose the deposit of 250 USD I did propose to stay one night and leave on next day. But this solution has been refused: or 2 nights or nothing!
After this arrogant answer, I did cancel my reservation on booking.comm and fortunately I have been able to find a solution for my family (2 adults and 2 boys; 12 and 10), not easy in Cartagena during Xmas Holidays.

In my 25 years of travelling experience (with more than 100 nights/year in hotels/hostels) and in more than 70 countries (that I did visit for business and tourism) I have never seen such a place for such a price (699 USD for 2 nights). This room should not be sold for more than 100USD. With my family we have seen and visited many places … good and bad… but we did always pay accordingly to what we did get.

From the chaotic check-in, to our appalling room with no window, this was a horrible experience. We booked a family room with bunk beds because it was the only thing they had left. The room had one tiny window that was completely covered by the bunk beds so there is no natural light. Electrical outlets don’t work, the wifi is spotty, the lighting is not sufficient, beds feel cheap, bathroom is tiny. There is no place to hang clothes, no place to sit, no desk. We didn’t sleep in the bunk beds but they smelled like urine. We found the staff to unfriendly, unresponsive and not interested in making our stay better. They did move us to a different room but it was just as bad as the first if not worse. It had a constant pool of water on the floor that we couldn’t find the source of. Our friend had a much nicer corner room with lots of light and a desk and place to hang clothes and her room was cheaper. So, if you’re lucky enough to get one of those rooms you might be happier. The rooftop has nice views but the pool water is so cloudy you can’t see below your knees. Drinks were insanely overpriced. They charged us $45-50,000 for vodka with soda water which is definitely the most expensive drinks we had anywhere in Cartagena including high-end restaurants. The location in Getsemani is good and if you are a young backpacker on a budget you may like this place. We moved to a gorgeous, modern hotel nearby that was actually LESS money.

My partner and I had booked a standard double room with a desk (we both work remotely).

When we arrived, the room was a double bed with two bunk beds and no desk or closet. Naturally, we asked to be changed and were put in a room with a desk but the bed and air conditioning were broken. We were moved to a third room, with a "desk" (please look at the photo) and air that in theory worked (but you have to put a towel on the floor because it drips all night and the room is so humid that even your suitcases get wet...)

The photos of the room and accommodation have NOTHING to do with reality. It is a dark and very poorly maintained place. The whole building smells of bleach from scraping the walls to remove the humidity, and the pool in the building where the reception is, apart from the fact that it only fits two people, has all the walls uncorked.

My boyfriend and I were shocked. Not only are you paying 90 € per night for a room that looks like a roadside motel, but they sell you "Selina" as a co-linving where you can work and all the work areas are paid for separately.... Also, we were told that you could work from the common areas, but the reality is that there are only TWO tables in the library and a kitchen where it is full of people cooking and eating all day long (even the staff). And by the way, we tried to cook and it was really disgusting how dirty everything was.

Extremely disappointing. Lucky we only booked for a week and not the whole month we were in Cartagena.

Terrible, terrible hotel!!!! At least the hotel part at the other side of the streat. With check in on sunday evening they told us there was a little party going on but it would end in 20 minutes and because we stayed on the second flour we would not be bothered by the noice form the roof (5th flour). They also ensured that for the rest of the week there would be no more parties and excessive noise…. NOT!!! Second day they organised a karaoke wich was very, very, very loud… just imagine hearing drunk folks sing like dying cats in your ears all night long.

Besides the terrible nights disrupted by the unjustifiable loud noise, the rooms were nothing nice either… For a relative pricely room you get a room without a window to the outside and a bathroom in which you need to almost crawl over the sink in order to reach the toilet… and oh if you are over 1m80 (5ft9) i guess you should just do your thing in the shower as your legs won’t fit on the toilet.

Dont be fooled by other nice selina hotels, this one absolutely stinks. The staff is verry friendly though.

Hi Victor, thank you very much for leaving us your comment as it is the best way that we have to improve. We organize activities on our rooftops to provide our guests a fun experience, on weekends we stay until about 2am, however during the week we understand that noise can be an inconvenience and we close the rooftops more early. We are sorry that you did not have the best experience but we´ll continue to work hard to improve. Have a good one!

This was my first time staying with Selina, I had heard great things about Selina and was looking forward to checking it out. But sadly was very disappointed! For starters the website said they did airport shuttles and when I reached out to their WhatsApp chat no-one ever responded. We arrived early and were told they would be able to get us into our room early, but instead we waited 5 hours to get in, check in was at 3 and the cleaners began cleaning our room at three so we had to wait another hour for them to finish. Once let into our room, the second you walked thru the door the smell of mold took over. There is visible mold all over the room, the room was not even clean, the floors were pealing up from water damage, my partner and I stayed one of the 4 nights planned, we checked out the next day and moved to another hotel because the mold was so bad and making us feel sick. The wifi was also down for the whole first day we were there.

Let me preface this by saying that I've stayed in Selina's all over the world and typically love them, but this place was a dump. The room had mold, no blanket, was missing a chair at the table, super noisy, the bed was uncomfortable, smelled bad, and the worst bathroom I've ever seen, just terrible. We got into our room around 8p on the day we arrived and immediately booked another hotel for our 3 nights in Cartagena. It was so bad that we couldn't even stay the night and we were exhausted from travel. We booked the standard room (private) for $100/night and this wasn't even worth $20/night. To top it off, one of the employees immediately tried selling us drugs. I know it's Colombia, but c'mon. Wouldn't recommend this to ANYONE.

Positives:
Good location; cool neighborhood and convenient to historic center. Trendy, fun vibe. Good WiFi. I like the Grab and Go feature.

Negatives:
Room had no exterior windows. Felt oppressive. Interior French windows didn’t latch completely, rendering the room unsafe. Safe didn’t work, and even if it did, can’t fit a laptop (strange for a place that pitches itself as a coworking space). Sink missing a part so water sprayed everywhere when turned on.

Security overall was nonexistent, even though there was a security guard. Anyone could come in and go anywhere.

I was told breakfast started at 7:30am, but when I arrived at 7:28, it was completely full, with most mid-meal. Service was slow and got the wrong items two days in a row.

Very loud music from the restaurant/bar next door came into the room very clearly until 3am each night. (I had ear plugs but without them and my eye shades would never have slept. Bright lights from the inside of the hotel on all night, came through the thin curtains of the French windows.

I will not stay here again. Only stay if you want to party all night and just want a place to crash.
