My husband and I spent 5 nights at Hotel Casa La Factoria and loved our stay. Our room was very comfortable and very clean. The shower was awesome and air conditioning worked great. The bed and linens were cozy. We loved the breakfast. The only awkward thing was that the shower/sink/toilet wasn’t in a separate room. But this is a pretty minor complaint and we got used to it.

I think the best part is the staff. They are so delightful, warm and friendly. We did not speak Spanish but somehow we all figured it out and were made feel like friends in the process.

This was my first trip to Colombia and I was recently in town for a wedding. The hotel itself is very nice but be cautioned about the stairs if you have any mobility issues. The staff was very helpful carrying my bag and overall very attentive. They are learning English (but I know zero Spanish so I do not judge that!) Use google translate and you'll be fine. Wifi worked well and some staff know English really well. Some rooms are a little small with open glass design so if you traveling with friend instead of spouse- be warned. But nice rooms! I would recommend the hotel but its slightly over priced as other reviewers have said. This is not an "American" viewpoint of thinking everything in Colombia should be cheap. Its simply observing what my friends paid for similar hotels and offerings nearby at the wedding- in some cases almost 30% less.

We were placed in this hotel for one night by Faranda after they mixed up our reservation. The overall boutique feel of the hotel is fabulous. Know which room you have - we had no windows and it was very small by metal staircase (noise very early in the morning up and down stairs). The breakfast was nice - served by waiter/choices. Don't know why this is rated lower on TA (maybe just fewer reviews thus far). It is in a nice location in the walled city. We speak Spanish and English - so no issues, but staff variably speak English/no real problems. The room had a mini fridge and I think a safe. The bathroom was pretty large for the size of the room. We only saw the pool on the main level (see photo).

Sure the hotel is nice but based on our experience, it seems clear they are using it as lure — intentionally overbooking it and then re-routing the overflow to Hotel Caribe — which technically should be offered at a lower rate and is a totally different experience: a resort that’s far from the old town. We had this experience and so did many others we talked to. Could it have been a one-time mistake? It seemed pretty calculated. I think they bank (literally) on those who don’t complain and just accept the second location. Those who do complain are put in a (quite nice) Airbnb but housed with strangers in a place with no locks on the bedroom doors or safes. And then we were abruptly moved (on an hour’s notice) to Casa for our last 4 nights. That’s three moves in total. It’s all pretty fishy and any compensation is nominal and requires an exhausting amount of negotiation (just one free lunch). It really coloured our perception of the city — nothing worse than feeling like someone is intentionally trying to take advantage of you with a big smile on their face. It’s quite uncomfortable if you’re conflict adverse like I am — I was lucky to be with friends who weren’t putting up with it! Not worth it.

I really wanted love this small hotel just a block from Plaza Santo Domingo and 2 blocks to the wall. It opened a year ago in what was an old house. They did a nice job with the renovation, keeping many of the old parts such as the stairways and exposed brick. There are 2 pools, one is rooftop, there is no elevator for 4 floors. The staff are young and pleasant, English levels were variable and worse in the restaurant. Our room was nice but had virtually no storage other than a hanging rack, so we had to keep everything in our suitcases. Housekeeping needs more staff, we didn't get serviced until 5pm and towels were taken but not always replaced, so then we had to call and get them. Breakfast was okay, again staff very nice but options limited. With more management attention this could get another circle.

The place is really beautiful but my friend and I think it is overpriced. Rooms are not big enough for how much it cost, they don’t have a closet just a rack to put your stuff and they don’t even offer breakfast for such an expensive night. WiFi doesn’t work well either.

This hotel was better than expected. Our first time in Colombia, we decided to stay in the Old City and randomly chose this hotel based on availability. We were told that it had only been open a few years. Upon entering the hotel, there was a constant breeze running throughout, as all the large doors were open. It was an amazing welcome. The art on the walls, the details in the decor was stunning; every day you observed something new. The staff was very helpful, although the language barrier made it hard to communicate most of the time. Even with the communication issue, they still managed to assist us with obtaining an appointment for Covid Antigen testing prior to our departure. The lab actually came to the hotel to collect our samples. The room we stayed in was the perfect size, although the scale used in the online photos portrayed the room as much larger. Not sure if it is important to others, but the water pressure and temperature controls were surprisingly adequate and efficient. The cleaning staff did a good job as well. We only used the pool on the main level, which was maintained at a comfortably warm temperature. The pool depth was just right and the small hideaway cave connected to the pool was delightful. The location was obviously perfect, as any hotel in the Old City would be. We could walk anywhere in a short period of time. The area was pretty quiet. Definitely would come back here in a heartbeat and would highly recommend to friends and family.

When I am traveling to a tourist town, the experience is my highest priority. This hotel is beautiful, located in the middle of the Walled City, has a great staff, and features excellent food. I came to the property via a recommendation of a travel company when more familiar properties were not available, but I am glad that we settled on this property for many reasons.

The first benefit of this property is its beauty. There is a sunny rooftop deck with panoramic views of the city and a plunge pool. The entry way and common areas are gorgeous and accented with hundreds of live plants. It has a real tropical feel, without sacrificing modern conveniences. The property is not accessible to anyone who cannot walk stairs, however it has outstanding Wi-Fi, a gorgeous full pool in the interior courtyard and a lobby facing an interesting street in the heart of the city.

The second strength is its location. One can literally walk down "Restaurant Row", to local shopping boutiques, and to all major city attractions within steps of the front entrance. In addition to be convenient for touring, near this location, there is a grocery store half a block away, a pharmacy 1 block away and an ATM machine one block away (inside a secure location). The property is in a very vibrant part of the city and near major landmarks that make navigating home or giving instruction to ride share, taxis, or friends easy!

The third thing I loved was the warmth and attentiveness of the staff. Kevin was the desk agent that literally recommended and coordinated many of our excursions during the trip. He was responsive and incorporated our needs with empathy and understanding. He did not skimp on the "experience" of our outings, but he also was mindful on the value of the money we were spending. Be prepared to use "Whats App" to communicate with hotel staff, tour personnel and other support professionals. Kevin was not an exception, but the rule for the hotel. The breakfast staff, the desk staff and the bar staff were polite and responsive.

Finally, I was very pleased with the breakfast offerings, which were included in your stay, as well as the meals available for purchase at lunch and dinner. The food was tasty, served hot and clearly made with care. The hotel provided some of the best meals we ate in the city.

The property has some challenges as it is nearly completely unaccessible for those in a wheelchair. The staff spoke English, but the experience is improved for travelers conversant in Spanish. Finally, the lack of an elevator made transporting luggage to/from the room a challenge that must be navigated alone depending on the time of one's arrival/departure. Those are the only factors that prevented a 5 star rating. This property is gorgeous and a great value.

This was our 3rd hotel in a one-week trip to Cartagena so it was interesting to compare the three properties.

La Casa is an historic property full of charm. We loved the layout and the way that the rooms have been modernized while keeping so many aspects of old construction intact. The ground floor lobby has a beautiful breeze blowing through it and the breakfast area and bar have cozy little street view nooks which we loved. The hotel is nicely located in the old city but outside of the busiest section which makes it a bit more relaxing.

Unfortunately, the first floor pool was not accessible when we were there (scaffolding in the pool to allow for interior atrium wall painting), which was a bit of a letdown since we booked this hotel for the unique aspect of the indoor as well as rooftop pool.

Breakfast service was very pleasant, with average buffet food (fine for one morning in our case).

The main area for improvement is that we found our room (210) to be very dark. There was no overhead lighting, just bedside lamps and sink and shower lighting, so even in daylight it was very hard to see inside a bag or suitcase to find something.

Overall, a pleasant, safe, and comfortable one night stay in the city center. Thanks to Kevin for the helpful front desk service!

The people here are so so nice, we had such a great stay here. The place is absolutely beautiful and the location in the Old Town is perfect! The rooms are a little small and dark (not much natural light), but the hotel was so fun! The bar downstairs offers a few tables that look out to the street and it is fun to watch people exploring the Old Town. Really recommend it!
