Happily the hotel, right across from the beach, has good security at the front door and also around the gated perimeter. Guards monitor those locked gates.

Easy to get a taxi to the historic center and cost was a set 8000 COL or about an amazing $2.50. I know; crazy, right? On the way back to hotel from town I always asked the price. Sometimes driver would say 10k but I'd say 8000? And I think always they'd say ok.

The large grounds have mature trees, a variety of seating areas, a pair of tropical birds with their birdhouse quite low so you can get a good look and other animals (I saw a tropical bird around the outdoor dining area begging for fruit and a baby deer). Huge pool with lots of seating (well at least around 3pm when I got there) and a lifeguard. Also a kiddie pool.

There is good ac in the room, a room safe, slippers, expansive open view of water which I think was called Garden View. (We were on 6th floor facing east).

Breakfast for one is 36,000 COL (about $11 USD). There is a discount if you do breakfast daily (31COL) Good breakfast buffet with outdoor seating by the pool and outdoor food station for omlettes and such. Try not to leave your plate unattended outside as there are very smart birds that will immediately go after whatever is on your plate.

Very helpful and friendly staff some of which speak English. Shout out to Fernando and tour coordinator Luz was so friendly and helpful!! Lovely lobby, lots of restaurants and at least 2 large grocery stores nearby.

It's a really nice place with very nice staff. Good location which is about $100 cheaper than a hotel in the Old Quarter so very good value. I recommend Hotel Caribe.

I'm in a better than usual mood so I give it 4 stars, reality is its more like a 3. Stayed here for 5 days over New Years. The main colonial building is elegant, the gardens and pool area are well maintained and the animals roaming around are a fantastic plus. The hotel is located very well, across from the busy main street with all the shopping you need, but no noise issues. One of the 'hop-on hop-off' stops is right by it which is really convenient. The breakfast is nice to have, honestly for the price difference, the convenience is worth it. Nothing special, but strikes a balance between local pallets and international. All the juices seemed watered down and "light" on the flavor though. Fresh fruits are a plus. The staff in general are very helpful, though I did have to do some work to set up the initial pick up from the airport, nonetheless they did come through in the end, however the initial prospect of having to do everything myself was going to be off putting. The issues are as others stated, some areas are more updated than others. Some basics aren't included in the room, such as a kettle, or a mini microwave. For foreigners not wanting to chance it with the tap water, at the price point we paid, you'd expect at least a couple complimentary bottles of water. The windows all have buildup of mildew or something from the ocean I suppose.. not a deal breaker, but again, the main building presents a level of expectation that isn't carried throughout. For me the most frustrating part really is with regards to the pool area being "reserved". Each day it seemed the same 4-5 families would take over all the cabanas and chairs at the pool. They wouldn't be there, just their stuff. And it didn't matter how early you showed up, by 7am they were all taken. Turns out many of them would wait for staff to clean up the pool area in the evening the night before and then just put their things down again. The hotel should really work on a reasonable policy for this, to give others a chance, as opposed to have the few individuals effectively own the pool area for the length of their stay. We did observe when one employee tried to reason with a guest after she had taken over 3 cabanas on her own at noon, with no one there. The guest proceeded to scream at the employee until he left exacerbated and unable to do anything. I know that the cute cultural statement is that you don't argue (this wasn't an argument) with Latina women, but this was unacceptable. Anyways, a bit of a rant, but the pool occupancy and the "finishing touches" are really the only complaints, all else is good. Remember it's all relative, so some here will say it's not a 4 or 5 star hotel, and while it may not be the Hilton or Hyatt, it certainly is above average for the area.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Caribe. The room was spacious and clean. We enjoyed the facilities which included well manicured grounds, a garden terrace full of seating areas, large and well maintained pool and loungers, and lots of well maintained greenery. The ground also had 2 families of deer, 2 macaws, and a friendly little tucan that hops around. It will eat fruit from your hands and if you’re slow and gentle enough it’ll even let you pet it. Please be gentle with it though as to not scare or hurt the bird.

Most of the staff spoke fairly good English and the ones who did not were able to easily direct us to someone helpful. The customer service at the hotel was great.

The only issues we ran into were the safe not working. We did advise the front desk and they did send someone to replace the battery, however, that was a short lived solution. We just didn’t bother using the safe and stored our valuables carefully. There was an empty room down the hall from us that was beeping all day and night. The first time we alerted the front desk no one was sent up. The second time we waited for maintenance until the issue was resolved. It was a low battery notification for a fire detector that went off every 30 seconds. Luckily, they resolved it. The only other issue is if you are there on a weekend, there is a club/bar across the street that blasts music until early into the morning. We were on the 5th floor and our windows were vibrating. Luckily, we ALWAYS travel with earplugs.

Otherwise, we had a great stay and would definitely book again. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

I have questions about the services and find that their website lacks a lot of information. I was prompted to open a chat dialog with their representative. I asked her the questions and got no response. 14 hours later I was told to call various numbers at the hotel! In a 5 star hotel, I expect the representative to answer questions or get me the answers. Here is my correspondence:

We booked this hotel, based on the Radisson branding and the boutique type presentation of the hotel. We didn't want a massive hotel experience. Whereas check-in was adequate and the room was according to expectation, we experienced that this Radisson hotel is not at all a five star property.
1. Food - we ate twice in the hotel - was tasteless. Even the beach outlets in front of the hotel served tastier food (at much lower rates).
2. Beers were served in metal cans, 'since nothing else was available'. Beach restaurants all served like it should, in bottles.
3. Servicing was done without table linnen and with very small paper napkins ......
4. Apart from reception staff, no one in the hotel spoke english, not even the basic communication lines to reply to guests.
5. All information to guests, for instance about special events for New Years Eve was provided .... only in Spanish.
6. During the NYE celebrations the hotel management has arranged for two music groups which were playing their extremely loud music on locations less than 50 metres from one another. The music on the main stage was on such volume that room furinuture and decoration were trembling of base tones .....
7. All food choices mainly focused on fast food. Can you imagin a five star hotel without even an egg station during breakfast?
8. Even a personal meeting with 'guest relations' (limited english) and the deputy general manager did not conclude into any action or 'signal of appreciation'.
I'v experienced many many hotels with lower classification and lower ambition than this Radisson group hotel with way way better service and quality. Stay away from this hotel if ever visiting Cartagena.

This hotel has a ton of character and is located in a great part of town, but don't expect any sort of service. The wait staff will literally look at you and ignore you. If you happen to place an order you will wait an exorbitant amount of time for your food and don't expect your drinks to be refilled, or the wait staff to ask if your food was prepared to your liking or if you would like another beverage. This is the only place I have ever stayed where I've ordered a drink at the pool, and then have to consistently walk back to the bar to order my drink, instead of having a waiter ask if I would like another. The sad thing about this review is that I am currently here over the December holiday season. I'm in this hotel for 21 days and even though this staff sees me almost daily they still choose to just ignore me. Granted I was finally fed up and complained to management that was the only time that I was waited on like I was a valued patron. I will never stay at this hotel ever again I would warn every single one of my friends and family to avoid this hotel like the plague. In a city literally saturated with hotels, the management of this hotel should take notice. I would like to include that the front desk, the doormen, the maintenance staff are all pleasant and extremely welcoming. If only the wait staff was as accommodating this would've have been a completely different experience.

Trip advisor doesn’t answer phone calls and the fandango hotel Caribbe in Cartagena does not answer their Colombian number or us phone number. Multiple emails sent, no response. It’s been a week. I paid over 300 dollars for a threeo night stay. Colombia shut down its borders on Monday before my trip and internal flights in Colombia canceled on Wednesday. Very bad service. These hotels should just refund hotel stays where no one shows up given the circumstances. I’m disputing all my airline and hotel stays with my credit card. Now the us number says this is not a valid number

This hotel is well located, has a beautiful small Internal garden and a good customer service , however I won’t consider this hotel a 5 or 4 stars hotel , as the rooms lack kettle (tea/coffee), iron , hair dryer, and free drinkable water. Some of the rooms are located in modern buildings with nice views but basic facilities and do not relate to the colonial architecture of the main hotel. Breakfast menu is extremely basic and very limited.

The drivers for chosing this hotel: bigger hotel with nice pool and close to the beach. The hotels available in the historical centre were boutique like (i.e. small rooms, small pool, far from the beach).
The reality is that we only got the pool.
Beautiful old building with attentive staff and nice pool.
Location: it is far from the historical centre in an area that is not good (beach is awful). We had to take taxi to go to the centre.
Staff: very attentive
Facilities: pool is nice. gym ok, room needs to be renovated, smeels mold
We were in the New Years Eve. The hotel had a big party but with extra payment. The problem is that people who did not participate in the party had to be confined and had no access to the full facilities (e.g. pool was closed at 1pm on the 31st Dec)
