My second stay and my husband’s first to Casa San Agustin and Cartagena. This hotel is a little oasis inside the walled city. From the moment you check in to the moment you check out, the staff attends to your every need. The rooms are beautiful and bathrooms divine. The building with its pool located in the courtyard is exquisite. We will definitely be back.

We stayed at Casa San Agustin for our wedding anniversary trip. The staff of the hotel is incredible. The attention to detail and service is the best we have experience, and we travel a lot. Our room was spotless, and they had the detail of surprising us with fresh flowers in our bed. Paola P. from concierge was super attentive, helpful and courteous. She helped us with all of our restaurant reservations. The hotel is beautiful, very well situated. We also went to the spa and it was amazing. Definitely will love to be back at this hotel and would recommend to all my friends.

The Alma Restaurant was a refuge in the humid heat of the Old City. Brayan, our chefs menu and sommelier was equally delightful. Recommendations: polpo carpaccio and the pescado in plantain leaf. Lunch al fresco by the fountain was reminiscent of the Boboli Gardens.

Our entire team: Chefs, Waiters, Sommeliers, Bartenders and others always strive to ensure that our guests receive the best service and have unique experiences, from our comfortable facilities to escape the humid heat of our magical city, to giving the best recommendations for dishes such as this delicious Octopus Carpaccio or the Fish in Banana Leaf. The Hotel Casa San Agustin was a very memorable experience. The accommodations were very comfortable, super clean and well maintained. We had daily breakfast in the hotel's restaurant Alma which has exceptional food! We enjoyed lunch, dinner and teatime there as well. The staff are all extremely professional, courteous and take their jobs very seriously. We very much appreciated the Reception team in answering our many questions and specifically to Andres for his impeccable restaurant recommendations which were spot on! Tomas was an excellent server in the restaurant and Luce in the bar was the best! I neglected to get the hostess' name who seated us in the restaurant--she is very friendly, welcoming and seated us promptly. Generally everyone with whom we interacted from housekeeping to the restaurant servers to reception and the wonderful gentlemen who worked at the front entrance, all were just the most exceptional people. This hotel can be proud of their team! We would certainly stay here again without hesitation!

We can't imagine staying anywhere else if traveling to Cartagena! The city is beautiful, but it is also hot, crowded and noisy. Walk through the doors of Casa San Agustin and you are greeted by welcoming staff, a cool towel and a refreshing drink. The design of the hotel, maintaining the original woodwork and character of the homes, allows for privacy and several beautiful common spaces including a library, solarium, and pool. The included breakfast was wonderful. Our room had a ceiling that soared above our four poster bed, tall windows and gorgeous balcony where we enjoyed the welcome basket of fresh fruit and the complimentary bottled water. Turn down service each night included a sweet treat. Be sure to register for the Luxury Hotel brand free membership which has additional bonuses when staying at member hotels. Everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful. We didn't want to leave.

Casa San Agustin promised to be the stay of a lifetime. The photos on the website looked incredible. We were so excited to spend six days exploring Cartagena this this gorgeous property as our base. However, from the moment we arrived the disappointment began. We didn’t get a tour of the hotel the morning after we arrived, so we had no idea there was a little library or a sun roof area that we could have used. We also didn’t know that you could borrow bikes to explore the city, or help yourself to sparkling water on the first floor - no one bothered to show us around at all. Our room smelled of damp (I heard from other guests they found the same in their rooms) and there was black mould in our sink. Three mornings out of six we didn’t have hot water in our shower - not a very five star hotel experience. The housekeeping team didn’t regularly empty our bin, replace used glasses, take the old fruit platter away, replace coffee pods in our room. The housekeeping team didn’t seem to take any care replacing soaps or amenities - merely throwing them randomly onto the sink units. The attention to detail was not there at all. We could normally overlook that but all day EVERY day there was maintenance going on. Hammering, nailing, fixing, drilling and banging non-stop. From 7am until past 9am at night. We lay by the pool one day and streams of workmen with ladders would just come back and forth. Two men were even painting by the pool while we were trying to relax. It was incredibly uncomfortable watching all these people work around us when we were meant to be on holiday. When I complained to management and sent them all the pictures and pointed out all the noise, they tried to make it better and stop the works, but the fact that the hotel even thought it was okay to do so much maintenance while guests were staying was really poor. Paola said they had taken all our comments into consideration and yet, literally as she was talking to me, two men with large toolboxes walked past us in the BAR AREA!! It was 8pm at night!! I just said to her this is ridiculous, we’re trying to have a nice drink here and there are still maintenance works going on. And yet, goodness know what they were fixing all the time because it was all the little things we kept seeing around the place that we noticed most - I found numerous clumps of hair in the pool every day which was truly disgusting. There is also no pool service at all if you want a drink you have to go to the bar and bring it back. On the upside, lovely Miguel at breakfast was a total superstar. He remembered each one of our orders completely every morning. The only saving grace of this very expensive hotel that otherwise does not warrant its star rating. I’m afraid I would not recommend this property to anyone visiting Cartagena.
