Small and beautiful hotel with 3 rooms only and a tiny pool on a beautiful terrace. Breakfasts are made on the spot by the great cook maria. Offers continental or typical colombian menus, with freshly squeezed juice. Great start to an exploring day in Cartagena!

Luis greats you at the door and sets the tone for a great, relaxing visit. Maria and Luz Maria also add to the great experience with hearty breakfasts and superior rooms that are clean, comfortable and furnished very nicely. It is only 3 rooms, so is really quiet and calming. It is near to a local neighborhood square that teems...

We visited with our 2 children (2 year old + 3 month old) and chose it so we could have some sort of home comforts while travelling with kids. Luis was great and very attentive. Our room was spacious enough for the kids and the aircon was much welcomed, as was the pool. Breakfast was great and sophie loved her...

We spent 4 nights :the casa is well located very closed from the touristic places and in a lively ,typic and friendly part of the old town ! We had a very nice room with a balcony .The bathroom is well decorated and spacious .We loved the cooked breakfast ( prepared in front of you in a friendly open kitchen)...

Casa el Carretero is a gem in the Getsemani neighborhood. As everyone else said, Luis and Maria are very kind and helpful. The hotel is immaculate, and although our room was tiny, it was very comfortable with a very nice bathroom and shower. Breakfast was great, with a choice of a typical Colombian breakfast (which is very heavy), or eggs,...

We stayed at El Carretero from February 6th to February 9th, 2012. This is a very fine hotel located in the heart of the Getsemani neighbourhood in Cartagena. The hotel is within walking distance to the walled city, to restaurants and bars. El Carretero is a small establishment (3 rooms) which makes for a very cozy environment. It has a...

Traveling from Canada. Yes, the rooms at the front could be noisy on Sunday night after the baseball game. But the warm attention you receive from Luis and Maria and the amazing pool on the roof where you can relax after a long sunny walk during the day and before a nice night out make this place wonderful. This Hotel...

My girlfriend and I stayed last October. We were lucky to have the whole place to ourselves. The house is enviably decorated and well considered. The rooftop pool was a welcome retreat from the sticky heat of the day and offered the perfect midnight dip. Plaza Trinidad is my favorite square in Cartagena. We enjoyed many nights sitting in the...

Casa El Carretero is beautiful 3 bedroom guesthouse that feels much like your own Cartagena home. The main floor has a nice sitting area and a large kitchen with high ceilings. Greeting us daily was Luis, the live-in caretaker, who was very helpful to provide us with whatever we needed. The second floor includes three guest rooms and the top...

My mother and I stayed at Casa El Carretero for four nights in December 2011. On our first day, we arrived, unpacked and went out for lunch. Upon our return four hours later, we noticed that the white sheets of the bed were covered with small bugs - really disgusting! At first we worried that the taxi in which we'd...

Cartagena is a city that is over 500 years old and it is located in the tropics of Colombia. This means that bugs are part of everyday life. The bugs that the guest is referring to are termites that once in a while come out of the wood in the ceilings of the property. The hotel management has taken the...
