We arrived in Cartagena to learn that our booked resort could not accommodate us due to storm damage. (Note: I booked through Chase Ultimate Rewards who did not notify me that the resort could no longer accommodate us. The resort, not Chase, rebooked us a the Radisson. Chase did very little to assist us, so I've filed a complaint and waiting for a response.)

First we appreciate the Radisson for accommodating us as we had no opportunity to rearrange our lodging in Cartagena because we had no notice. The hotel sits between a really busy roadway and a public beach with covered seating you can pay for. From my perspective, it was easy to get in and out from the hotel, and only about 15 minutes to the Walled City and the airport. Everyone was very nice and helpful, but know some Spanish as only the Front Desk Staff knows English. Most restaurant servers did not know English, for me that was ok, but have your google translate app handy if you're not comfortable with Spanish.

We enjoyed the rooftop bar area, because it was a nice vibe. The drinks were very good. We were there in the morning and early afternoon, so I don't know how it was at night. We did not have an ocean view room, or a balcony - from our room we looked directly into the living spaces of apartments next door. Although we had the all-inclusive "option" - complete with bright green wristbands - we had to pay for snacks located in the room mini-bar. When we checked out, the Front Desk Staff asked what we consumed from the mini-bar and then asked us to wait as they confirmed with hotel staff. We were not in a hurry, but that could have been problematic had we needed to leave immediately. There is one restaurant, and the food is decent, but not great. Room service is FAST - when they tell you 30-35 minutes, they mean it. The spa was greatly overpriced, so we didn't partake in any spa services. The air conditioner worked very well in our room, although it seemed to cut off every morning around 2am which caused us to become very hot and then come back on around 6a.

I have never stayed at a Radisson, and I can't say that I will in the future. Although this hotel was a decent alternative during an emergency situation, I would not book this hotel again. However, for my mother and I, this was our first trip to Cartagena and because of the Radisson we were not stranded upon arrival, for that, I will always be grateful.

Without being an expensive hotel, the place is really nice, clean, modern and has a great location in front of the beach. Our room had a nice view ocean side and was spacious and comfortable.
Breakfast is included and is ok. There it service for drinks and food beside the pool.
They have a kiddy pool with amenities for kids.
When you go to the beach you need to rent the umbrella and chairs to the natives, but it is very cheap and safe.
If you want to visit the Ciudad Vieja (old town) a taxi form the hotel will charge you 6 dollars which is pretty cheap and the old town is breathtaking, a must.
We would definitely come back.

My partner and I stayed here in March just before everything shut down because of lockdown and the food, drinks, the room quality and cleanliness and most of all the staff's exceptional service was 10/10. As a Radisson gold member I was also kindly upgraded to a lovely, suite with a balcony and 2 bathroom. These are definitely worth paying the extra for.

We had to return because our other travel plans were cancelled due to covid. Even though the hotel had suddenly become emptier as the whole of Cartagena pretty much shut down, this didn't make a difference to the staff's amazing attitude and friendliness.

The breakfast buffet was huge and extensive, the poolside lunches included delicious pastas and fresh poke bowls and the dinners were more high end and included lots of fresh seafood.

The only thing to be aware of is you need to taxi to and from the town as the hotel is in a quieter part of Cartagena. This takes around 8 mins each way.

Thanks for a great stay.

I stayed here for 2 nights. Room was very clean and spacious. Housekeeping staff kept knocking on my door and coming in even on day of arrival.
Breakfast was fine but could do with an english translation as well as the spanish one for the hot buffet. Staff had no english which for a Radisson was very disappointing. I left my starbucks cup with tea in it and my food on my table at breakfast and went to get something i had forgotten to find my table had been cleared. Spoke to 5 staff before i got my cup back and they couldnt understand i no longer wanted tea in it. Staff all looking at me as if it was mt fault. They really ignore solo and non spanish guests as i was able to observe how other guests were treated. The morning i checked out only 2 of the 4 lifts were working so 20 minute wait to get down to reception. Receptionist didnt even look at me or ask me about my stay. Very poor customer service. Radisson chain should be ashamed of this hotel. Could not recommend it and feel disappointed to have to state this. Checked into 3 star straight after to join tour and staff there amazing so warm and friendly. What i had been told to expect of Colombians.

Location:
City Center (Old Town Cartagena) is 15 min- 25 min away depending on traffic. If you don't care about seeing old town, then this may be ok.

The hotel is located at La Boquilla next to a bad neighborhood, so be aware of people harassing you at the beach at all times, and keep an eye on your belongings.

When you leave the hotel always walk to the right towards the city, don't go left or you may find yourself in a very bad location really fast. This is a special note to women traveling to Colombia.

Hotel:
Clean, food is ok not great, staff was friendly except for the people at the front desk. They seemed to be always busy, and behind their daily duties, so they will rush you, and not give you proper attention, they need at least another person at the front desk at peak hours.

Pool is ok, service at the pool was good. They will ask you to provide a pass to get a towel, so don't loose the pass or the towel, you may get charged for it. (Not a fancy systems) Reminds me of hotels in Colombia back in the 80's when towels were a luxury.

Beach:
Biggest disappointment of the trip, water is dark, and the sand is gray/brown. You cannot see your feet with a foot of water on them.

Note that as soon as you come out of the hotel towards the Beach there is a security guard from the Hotel at the door, part of his job is to advised you to watch your belongings, and not to buy anything from beach vendors. This gives you an idea of this beach.

Forget about bringing your own umbrella or beach chair, there are vendors that have taken possession of the beach by renting umbrellas and chairs, if you don't rent from them, you will be left out to use a small portion of the beach very close to the water. My advised is to pay the $5 dollars and rent from them.

Beach vendor will harass you all day long.

Avoid buying food and always ask prices up front before ordering drinks or anything else. There are horror stories of people paying $25 for a Coke.

I don't recommend this place for families, or for single women visiting the city, much better options in Bocagrande or Old town. The place is ok for single guys or business.

Hope this helps,

Beautiful hotel, which have few things to improve. First staff here doesn’t speak English, which can be little bit frustrating for no Spanish speakers.

Service at the restaurant and bar can be much more effective, if waiters would focus more on customers instead of chatting to each other.

Breakfast has sufficient amount of options. Lunch/Dinner/Room Service food was very poor, which is not understandable as Colombia offers many great dishes and flavors.

Housekeeping was on other side spectacular, specially Ana Cristina Rios, who was keeping our room spotless on every day during our stay.

Location of hotel is ok, considering the beach is super close. However nice beaches are not located in Cartagena, but you have to get a boat to some of the island around it. Few minutes ride to Old town of Cartagena offers many possible activities Museums, NICE restaurants and shops.

Radisson has definitely something to improve, but generally hotel is ok.

An address I will you time and again if I visit Cartagena. You are not in the hustle bustle of the Old town nor are you in the Boca Grande area where you find the ugly tall buildings and crowded streets. This hotel is nestled in the lovely area of La Boquilla - 10 mins from Old town and 10 mins from the airport. The interior is fresh and clean and the staff are great. I payed to upgrade my room to the Master Suite - 1 stayed for 1 night and wanted to have access to the Suite's balcony for the perfect sunset. I was a bit dissapointed with the quality of the furnishing in the suite as all the surfaces seems to be manky/stained and old and not clean... the stench of dampness also bothered me and all the curtains needs a deep clean/wash as they were no longer white but beige/brown.

If you need a pool and a beach in Cartagena (even though that's not the reason to come to CTG,) then this is a good place to stay. Rooms are nice, service is great, and people are friendly. The Walled City is 5 mins away by cab.

Breakfast is free if you get the right packages, there is some entertainment on certain nights in the lobby and pool deck, but food and drink are unnecessarily expensive, but you're in Colombia, and will probably be eating everywhere else anyway.

They can have someone come to your room to do a covid test for your flight.

Run, run if you can because we wish we could have. When we arrived, my husband asked reception for water and they said he could use his free drink voucher to get water from the bar. Our king junior suite was filthy. There were red stains on the floors, stains on the sofa, chairs, and throw pillows, a burn on the desk, stains on tables, and the room smelled like mold. Veronica at reception said that stains are normal since it is a hotel room, but the room is in fact clean. We asked to switch rooms, and she told us it would be a few hours before she would know. My husband went down and spoke to concierge who immediately moved us to another room. Still stains on all furniture, and wreaked of mold again. The food is terrible, and as a Colombian, I was embarrassed. Do not stay here if you don’t have to. It is not worth the money.

We got the biggest most expensive room in the hotel. A suite with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a living room with a sofa.
The day after we arrived, something fell under the sofa, I tried to retrieve it and a USED CONDON came instead. I got it with my bare hand in the most expensive room in the hotel. Disgusting, to say the least.
Next night the sink fell in the middle of the night. The whole sink! We had to brush our teeth in the shower in the morning.
When we left, my daughter left her Nike tennis shoes she used the night before. I contacted the hotel and after sending me to 10 different places and people, I got a basic email saying they didn’t have them.
My daughter has the shoes in pictures the night before. They were at the hotel but conveniently lost!?!.,
Pool is small with only a few chairs and too many guest to fit in.
Breakfast included is bland, lukewarm food and bad quality.
You can hear noises all night long from other rooms and from outside.
