Escape to a tropical paradise at our colonial-style hotel in Cartagena. Positioned in the San Diego neighborhood of Cartagena's Walled City, Hotel Bantu by Faranda Boutique, a member of Radisson Individuals, offers a tranquil retreat amid 18th-century architecture, open-air terraces, and patios surrounded with lush greenery. Around the hotel, you'll find a city that's steeped in history with landmarks like the Clock Tower and the Gabriel García Márquez House a few blocks away. After an alfresco lunch in the charming Santo Domingo Square, stroll down the narrow streets lined with brightly colored houses and balconies covered in tropical flowers. When you return to the hotel, you can unwind with a swim in the outdoor pool or a session in the on-site spa, which includes a Turkish bath and massage services. Or relax in our solarium, which overlooks the city. Afterward, head to the bar and enjoy a cocktail in the company of great friends.

Beautiful decoration, good price! You are close to The main plazas and a lot of restaurants, bars and things to do. The customer service at the front desk is good. Breakfast is delicious and fresh. We went there with two kids and they were awesome with them. Fresh orange juice and Colombian coffee every morning. Eggs and arepas made our day early Morning. At night just a couple blocks from the hotel you can enjoy your evening at a restaurant where you can enjoy a live show.

I was surprised how amazing the experience was. Great staff, they are very polite and very well trained. The room is very confortable with AC, great Celling fan, nice bed sheets and 4 big pillows. The bathroom was very cute, antique touch and the shower has nice cold and hot water.
The pools is a must have in this city and this one is just perfect for very hot days. Had a swim twice a day, one at lunch time and one before dinner. Stays open until 8pm.
Did not eat at the hotel at all (i don't eat breakfast), so can't say about the food.
The location is a plus! Well located near tons of restaurants and a supermarket just around the corner.
Super recomended and i would stay here again.

From action-packed streets of Cartagena, you enter an oasis of beauty, serenity and artistic delights. Flowering plants and water features cascade down the high walls surrounding the entrance and restaurant area. A swing in the central courtyard adds a whimsical touch as you make your way to truly beautiful, comfortable, well-appointed rooms. The decor was lovely, the lighting intriguing, it was quiet and restful throughout our stay. On the roof is a very small pool, hot tub and plenty of comfortable chairs and chaises to lounge in. Breakfast was good and interesting and the ambience couldn't be beat. Staff was great.

It’s a shame really because the ‘boys’ who look after luggage / breakfast are just great particularly Jeffrey but the reception desk is terrible. The ladies look bored and need some real training in customer service and promoting the hotel
If you go you they have maps with all the key places of interest .. but you won’t get them with any sort of introduction to where you are etc ! The water situation is ludicrous .. especially in a county where you are advised not to drink the water ..you would expect one bottle of water in with the room rate ? They do have filtered water at reception but they don’t tell you that.. we had to buy bottles and then got the most stupid bill ... go to the supermarket round the corner..
The receptionists don’t advertise or tell you anything about the hotel and as a result it’s dead in the evening. We were supposed to have the use of a room during the day on return from a trip to the island and before our flight home. The receptionists were just awkward about it and got us worried that our agent hadn’t booked it ... they had
We saw many more vibrant hotels that looked more professional on our walk around .. but it is a shame
Great restaurant just turning left .. la mulatta .. good food and reasonable .. get there at 6.30 as popular !

Beautiful rooms (and they use a room spray that smells of orange blossom that really creates the retreat feel when coupled with the vegetation inside the courtyard. Not to mention good pool and rooftop views and fantastic food. Staff could not have been more helpful and we have nothing bad to say at all. Would recommend for sure.

We stayed for 5 nights and were very disappointed by this hotel. It is not by any standard a 5* hotel.
We booked a suite and were given a twin room. Hotel management actually tried to tell us our room was a suite, despite a suite being clearly described on their own website as having one extra large double bed, our room had two doubles. Quite farcical.
We were moved to a suite the next day. The bathroom had broken tiles in the bath making it unusable. Quite bizarrely the bath area was open to the elements with a grill above, meaning muck just fell in to the bath, and you could hear the pool pumps on the roof above all day. The sink unit was not actually fixed, literally wobbling lose which was a real health and safety issue. A tap was loose. Despite promises that this would be addressed all they managed to do was tighten the tap.
The pool bar is shut so you had to descend 2 flights of stairs to the kitchen to ask for a drink. The sauna was out of action. The steam room was on once for a short time then switched off. The pool area was poorly attended, often with no towels available.
We also had very poor WiFi in our room.
Overall, the public areas are in need of a facelift.
There are much better options in Cartegena at this price point.

They said it was an internet error. I can't understand that. Wondering if overbooked and then placed some guests at their sister hotel (which happened to us). Took time from our day, had to move then move again. If I had not prepaid the full amount (over $200USD per night) I would have understood more. They told me they would return 1/3 of my cost but then gave me only $50USD (out of over $700 total). I'm giving this an Average rating since the hotel is nice after all. Not the problem of the courteous staff. I found breakfast underwhelming. Check out the Factoria (sister hotel) - just as good as this hotel.

for the price we paid and excellent reviews we had very big expectations from Bantu by Faranda Boutique Hotel but I am very sad to say that I had a very unpleasant experience.
First of all I must admit that the hotel is in a very good location and looks amazing, the owners did everything and paid attention to any single detail being located in an old colonial house and you always feel like being in a tropical island. The breakfast was one of the best we had in Colombia and the staff from restaurant&breakfast is all very proffesional, funny and friendly. Thanks to Arnold that helped us to arrange the taxi payment and helped us with the luggage to our rooms.
Unfortunately we've been cheated for the first night by changing our original booked rooms to a such called "upgrade" to "presidential suite" that proved to be totally disappointing with 2 bedrooms that were far from the confort and size of the ones we booked and paid. One family of 2 adults had to share a very small bedroom 9 mp with a very small bed that can maximum accommodate a single person. We came to Cartagena after a very long flight of more than 20 hours and we were very tired, when we came to the reception to complain about our rooms the told us to wait for 10 min and they will solve it,after keeping us waiting for 2 hours (all the times telling us to wait for 10 min) they did nothing and finally we had to accept that we've been cheated and nothing can be done (they prettended the hotel was fully booked).Only after I said that we will complain to booking.com for this treatment and ask for compensation they accepted to give us our original type of booked rooms but only from the next remaining 3 nights. Not to mention that 2 weeks later when we had to recover our left luggage it took more than one hour, the guys from the reception look all very tired, bored and unresponsive to our request, not to mention that they do not speak any basic English at all.Only after I asked to speak to their manager they found and handle my luggage. It is a big shame and a pitty that the staff that are the first contact with the guests have such a bad manners and treat the guests in such a way.Definitely I will never book this hotel again and I am sorry for the owners that invested a lot in such a beautiful place

My stay at Bantu hotel was wonderful. The earthy vibes was everything I was looking for. I love the greenery and also I loved the pool. I had room 113 which was right outside of the pool. There was barely anyone in the pool, and I also was able to get in the pool at night as well, the hotel was fairly quiet, didn’t see any children during my stay, and I was very happy that there was a gate that locked out front to keep the hagglers from coming inside. My main concern was security, but I realize that was not an issue. The only cons I would say is the hot water. I took a shower one time after 9pm and the water was cold, so I’m not sure if they have a water heater that they turn off at a specific time. Also, the bed was pretty firm and one last thing the toilet took a long time to fill back up before you can flush it again. Other than that I had a wonderful stay at that hotel. The food was really good. The drinks were really good as well and the staff was very helpful especially Rodolfo and Rafael. They understood English pretty well.

My friend and I visited Cartegena for 5 nights. It was my first time there and my stay at The Bantu was wonderful! It's a great combination of old and quaint with fabulous staff and location. The location is perfect, very good breakfast, the upstairs pool area is small but sufficient with 2 open air massage spaces. If you enjoy being outside but need some shade, there is a space at the pool that has complete overhang of a mango tree that provides shade during the heat of the day. The entire staff was always friendly, professional, and accommodating. Depending on your room location it can be loud with street noise however I had a set of ear plugs and slept 8-9 hours every night.
It was heaven and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The Taxi stand is situated right outside the customs exit and they give you a ticket with the price. So there is no need worrying about overpricing. The fare is about 12000 COP which is about $4.50
