I stayed here with friends over a long weekend and we each loved it. The entire hotel is super clean. The rooms are very unique and come with a solid A/C (essential in the humidity of Cartagena). The hotel has two pools which were great to cool off/hang out in at the end of the day. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating to any request that arose. Breakfast in the second floor dining room each morning was fantastic.

The location in central Old Town Cartagena also meant that all bars/restaurants were within walking distance.

I would 100% stay here again.

Five stars. Casa de Alba is this gorgeous boutique hotel built in a historic house right in front of the cathedral in the old walled city.

Location is unbeatable: You're walking distance from the best restaurants, clubs, cafés, and tourist spots in the old city.

Class & décor: the owners have hand-picked everything you see in the hotel. the furniture, the art, the marble finishes... everything is tastefully chosen, and the collective impact is quite striking.

The staff: the idea is that you will feel at home. The staff is professional and kind, and they add a lovely touch of human warmth to the experience.

Food & drinks: top, top, top. You're welcomed with the best mojito (apparently the original recipe can be traced back to this house, which used to belong to Sir Francis Drake!). The in-house mixologist is a master, truly. And the meals were all delicious.

Air conditioning! Don't take it for granted in the old city. And here you might actually freeze if you don't adjust it :)

Do yourself a favor, and get this unique experience when in Cartagena!

From the second you walk in you get the 'wow' factor... absolutely gorgeous, authentic and well maintained interior and smelled fresh and clean. Staff were incredibly helpful and nothing was too much trouble. It's definitely a small boutique hotel... very quiet, tranquil and private (we only saw 2 other guests whilst we were there, and that was in passing). Room was very comfortable and spacious (deluxe suite with spa) with a private balcony and the location is second to none (with good security). A couple of reasons why this hotel for us was a 4 star and not 5... no room service (not even a phone in the room) and although the food was fabulous (fresh, quality ingredients), it was very limited in choice and kitchen shut at 8pm so no option other than to go out for dinner. I fully understand and appreciate that when you are a small hotel that you can't have 24 hour staff, but it would be useful to offer an alternative i.e. here is a list of 3 restaurants that will deliver to the hotel and we will bring it to your room when it arrives. Other than that, we had a perfect, relaxing experience

Thank you so much for your kind words, we are delighted that you had a great experience at Casa de Alba. It was a pleasure welcoming you and we are looking forward to your next visit to Cartagena. Regarding your comments on the room service, we are confused because we have had room service for years, and guests request room services all the time. Room service can be request at reception, or to any of the staff of the hotel that are stationed either at the kitchen/dining room area or by the bar area. We are constantly developing our menu to add more options, thank you for your feedback on this! We take with very seriously. Kind regards Thomas Dorvaux Director

We rented this villa for our wedding celebration in July. We organized a two night stay for 25 guests with a white party/meet and greet and a full days reception on Saturday that accommodated 33 total guests. The Wedding was at a small church a few blocks away called Santo toribio. Casa de alba's staff is really amazing. The food was world class and our guests raved about it for weeks. Chef Soivan and his team are VERY good at what they do. Trust in them completely. The staff really took care of our guests. The pool is a haven in the heat while the ACs in each room make it very comfy anytime and especially at night when it's time to rest. The upstairs pool was a nice place to end the day. The Butler Hernan is extremely helpful. He arranged everything for us, in advance but also on the fly. Transportation is tricky in the walled city and we needed cabs all day and even buses for the big event. Hernan made it happen. Taxis will cost you though so work with the villa to save some funds. Casa de alba took care of all of the food, transportation, bedding, cleaning, beverages and making sure everything worked with our wedding planner. We had an amazing and unforgettable time here and it worked well for 35 guests. I wouldn't reccomend any parties over 35 or 40 though. It'll get pretty tight in there. Sleeps 27 people comfortably in the villa. We really love this place and highly recommend. Hope to get back someday in the future. Cartagena will always hold a special place in our hearts and casa de alba aka casa drake is like family. Thank you.

If you are looking for a boutique hotel steeped in Cartagena history, a staff that makes you feel like royalty and a perfect location inside the walls of the Centro district, then Casa de Alba is your place. Built in the mid 1500’ as a grand home, Casa de Alba has been lovingly restored with attention to every room. With a private butler (think personal super concierge), chef, waiters and housekeeping staff, you might think you woken from a dream, but it’s reality and it never. Thomas, Jefferson, Carlos and all the other staff are always there to cater to your every need. Shopping for a new pair of shorts, Jefferson will walk you to the perfect shop, a meal during off hours, your personal chef will gladly put something together for you, drinks by the pool, your personal waiter will mix up your favorite cocktails and make sure your glass stays full. Regardless of whether you rent one room, two or the entire house, your experience at Casa de Alaba will be one that you never forget. Marshall & Paola

Stayed here for my honeymoon for four nights, and we loved it! Jefferson and his team really took care of us, the place is beautiful, romantic, in a perfect location that is walkable to everything, and we were made to feel like special guests every day/night. The included breakfast was excellent and gives a great view of the streets and area below, and we have to give a special shoutout to Jefferson, who helped us not only navigate the area by giving great recommendations and making special reservations, but also helping us communicate with other groups and hotels as we had to arrange for our next hotel stay, since were going to another location. Would recommend to anyone that they should stay here, and we would definitely stay here again!!

This hotel was fantastic! The staff are excellent, every staff member had a vibe of “we’re here for you”. We were travelling with our 3 year old and loved having space in our room like you’d get in an airbnb, but still having the service and amenities of being in a boutique hotel. We hit one of the pools everyday (rooftop pool is tiny, “indoor/outdoor” main floor pool was so refreshing after being out in the Cartagena heat). Jefferson was awesome - he hooked us up with great dinner recommendations and reservations every night. He also organized a private walking tour with a local guide that was perfect for us and very reasonable. Jefferson and Carlos were also great with our kiddo - they made us feel like highly valued guests.

I cannot emphasize enough how spectacular this hotel is. A true gem. Casa de Alba is the perfect place for a group. We visited for my bachelorette with 16 girls total—we fit perfectly and had room to spare. The hotel is also located in the best part of town for shopping and dining.

Not only is it stunning, but the amenities and staff are unmatched.

Hernan, the concierge, could not have been more accommodating and helpful. Any small detail or request you may have—Hernan will deliver! I was in touch with Hernan for the months leading up to the weekend and he coordinated an entire itinerary for me. Hernan called every restaurant, bar, and activity to ensure everything was taken care of properly and even went in person for some reservations to confirm. We especially enjoyed our day on the beautiful hotel boat! On our last night, the hotel coordinated a rooftop farewell party with decorations, amazing food, and music!

The chef created the most delicious meals—do not miss the breakfasts! The bartenders, Ivan and Milton, were inventive, friendly, and talented! Antonio, the night butler, personally walked us to our reservations and helped coordinate reservations anywhere we needed to go. We felt so taken care of and safe as a large group of women. The hotel was kept immaculately clean, and all of the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.

If you have any special occasions or simply want a retreat in beautiful Cartagena do yourself a favor and stay here.

Thank you Hernan, Thomas, and the rest of the Casa de Alba staff for making this trip so wonderful.

Let me begin by saying Colombia is my 113th country visited so know a little something about what a truly authentic 5 star experience should be. I debated reserving with Casa de Alba because there appeared to be so many options but I'm so happy that I decided to book! Immediately after my arrival, I instantly regretted not booking my entire stay. The location is perfect and everything from my immediate contact and communication with Guillermo, to the he 5star VIP treatment from Johnne and Jefferson my stay at Casa de Alba made me feel like I was a special celebrity guest in someone's beautiful home! The entire place simply oozes sexiness from the exquisite design and furnishings to the smell of Jasmine in the air throughout....it reminded me of a romantic Riad in Marrkech. The entire staff was fanatsic and is well versed on ensuring its guests receive a truly authentic 5 star experience! I was so impressed with Casa de Alba that we are exploring renting the entire house in the near future! Thank.you so kindly for such a memorable experience! I will certainly recommend and return!!

This is not the normal boutique hotel experience, it’s beyond what is expected. The experience of staying at this location cannot be compared to any other hotel in Cartagena. The staff and the environment makes you feel as if you were living in a dream. We will come back and we highly recommend it.
