We stayed as a couple in a private room (and bathroom) here for 3 nights in February and I cannot fault this place in any way, shape or form. It was simply brilliant and I would consider this more of a hotel than a hostel. Everywhere was impeccably clean, there were many facilities across the two buildings including 2x rooftop bars with amazing views of the city, a rooftop gym, lockers with keys for storage, kitchens with full facilities, onsite cafe, pool table, ping pong table, free 24 hour coffee, staff who are very helpful and speak fluent English, daily maid service. 100 percent recommend, probably the best place to stay in Medellin as either a solo traveller, a family, or a married couple as we are. Couldn’t have asked for more.

There is nothing negative to say about Los Patios. It is the nicest hostel we have stayed in during our trip to Colombia. It is in a bag packers neighbourhood called Manila which is surrounded by great brunch spots, great eateries (you can get Italian, American, Mexican, Vietnamese all within a 5 min walk), close to the supermarket (7min walk), close to El Poblado where all the meeting points for tours are (15 min walk) and the hostel itself is super clean, modern and has everything you need. The ONLY thing it’s missing is a laundry service but the girl at reception said she would direct us to the closest one, so I know it’s possible nearby. We stayed at the Hostel as a couple so we weren’t partying every night but I know they offer tours and fun things to do at night time so it accommodates all types of travelers. Thanks to Los Patios for a great stay!

We really enjoyed this hostel. We were travelling as a family (two parents + 18 & 20 year old). We had two private rooms.

The hostel is in a great location. A short walk to metro, a big supermarket nearby, heaps of great restaurants up the road and a laundry around the corner.

The hostel has something for everyone. There are rooftop bars on top of both buildings with awesome views . We chose the quieter bar to relax, the other bar was party central.

We had rooms facing the road, so it was a bit noisy, however not really a problem. The hostel was pretty diligent stopping the music around 11pm, even on Friday and Saturday nights.

The staff are also very careful to ensure that only guests can enter the hostel, especially at night, and check everyone's wrist bands.
We had an unfortunate incident with a non guest who snuck into the hostel. The staff and management were great in sorting it out and were hugely apologetic. Thanks again to Andrea and Lewis, and Leidy and Daniel.

When you come to Colombia, you have to come to Medellin. And when you come to Medellin, you have to stay at Los Patios!

This is the second time that I'm leaving this review since I guess the management as opposed to addressing my very real experience decided to instead complain to Trip Advisor and have the review removed but since it was such an awful experience I'm going to take the time to leave this review again. I met a friend on the street in front of this hostel who suggested we have a beer on the patio I walked into reception where one girl proceeded to work for 25 minutes while I waited talking with two other guests at the hotel and making sure they got checked out. When I finally did get my chance of reception I mentioned that I had just met my friend outside she said there was a 10,000 peso cover which I gave to her and as I was handing it over I said perhaps there's a better system where you could take this payment quicker so that I don't have to wait 25 minutes? to which the receptionist replied while we think it's more important to look after the people who are actually staying here. Which basically is saying you're not an important customer to us - to somebody who just stood there waiting 25 minutes to give you $3 so that they could go up to your bar and spend more money, it was disrespectful, stupid, ignorant and very frustrating. I took my 20000 pesos back and left I've been living in Medellin for almost 10 years and this was a very bad experience in something that the management should seriously consider.

Hola Andrew, We have never taken action of any review and, as a matter of fact, trip advisor will not follow instructions of erasing one, unless they consider its disrespectful. Our front desk procedures have been designed to take 5 minutes, 10 at the most. But processes are never flawless and sometimes particular events happen, as in your case. We are sorry your misunderstood what our staff member, answered, but by no means we would treat any of our guests or visitors without kindness, and it seems unrealistic anyone would tolerate any kind of disrespectful behavior without communicating it to any administrative officer. In our hostels we promote the cultural wealth of our country and the warmness of our people. For us hospitality means solidarity, empathy, daily work, intimacy, reciprocity, love and care, towards all of our friends and guests, no matter their nationality or condition. With our empathy, Los Patios

Honestly nothing negative about it. Rooms are very new, clean and with a private bathroom. The whole facility is great and newly renovated. It has a big gym, nice chill areas, gym, big kitchen and 2 nice rooftops. Staff was super welcoming and nice, location is in the food and safe neighborhood of Poblado. You have many restaurants close by and a laundry shop in case (Los patios does not provide it). Lastly, through the hostel you can organize all sorts of trips, visit and excursions.

This hostel is very well run by friendly staff (who speak English) and is super clean. They try to do everything to help you have a smooth and easy stay. A/C worked great and plenty of hot water.

Some things to keep in mind when staying here.

1. There are now two locations. No big deal, they are around the corner from each other and are both great. (I stayed at the main location).

2. The tour company based inside this hostel is Excellent! I highlight recommend using them.

3. Buy your snacks/food/water outside the hostel if you are on super budget. They are high prices (as many do to help supplement their low room fees). Also the food is kind of slow (no one in front of us and 20 minutes for 2 sandwiches).

4. ONLY suggestion/sort of complaint is that they should not have the private room on the top floor just under the bar. When you are paying a premium for a private room the location should also be considered. The bar is super loud (more on weekends of course) but at least it quiets down by midnight.

I loved the location, loved the services, loved the rooftop views, loved my balcony view. HOWEVER, as far as lodging was concerned it was a bit lacking. It was extremely loud at night. I'd seen that in the reviews before I came but it's waaay worse than you're probably imagining it in your head. It's like falling asleep in a party. Plus there weren't near enough towels and for whatever reason there weren't hand towel (we assumed it must've been cultural)

That's just me getting the negatives out of the way. I did like that we were able to get our COVID tests there, if you're big on social media then the views you'll get are great, the WIFI was great, the drinks were good and cheap, and the food smelled great even if we didn't indulge in it.

I won't lie, I think I'd stay here again because it was a good price, good views, the bed was nice and quite frankly it felt like a nice refuge where I could forget it was in a foreign land.

We loved our stay here. There was a lot to do here and it was great having the two options of rooftops. We did several of the tours from Los Patios and it was convenient being close to the Metro stop. That was very easy to take. We had a private room and it was very comfortable. You could easily shut your door and have privacy or join the other guests in the common areas. This was a very walkable neighborhood and fun to explore. There was some construction when we went but it wasn’t bad since we were usually out exploring while the construction was happening. I enjoyed our stay here and would stay again but maybe try another neighborhood for a new experience.

Los Patios is a party hostel - it’s very fun, but it’s very loud. You wouldn’t come here for the accommodations or some R&R, but for a good time. I spent 4 nights here in a no frills private room, which was clean and comfortable.

Pros: staff are friendly and make it easy to book tours/taxis/COVID tests. Loads of free activities every day at the hostel, it felt safe, and it was close to the action (10 min walk uphill to the square).

Cons: you will not fall asleep before midnight any day of the week. If you value sleep or need to be up early for a tour, this is not the place for you. If you can’t resist, bring earplugs.

This hostel is really nice, there's just one thing: THE NOISE! Party's on the rooftop, music from the lobby, traffic outside and construction going on across the street.  Closing the window didn't help. We barely slept because of it, even with earplugs. This is by far the loudest place I ever stayed in.

Other than that: this hostel is really cool, friendly, welcoming and safe. There are plenty of activities (free and paid) and it's a good place to meet other travellers. The neighbourhood is safe and has a lot of nice restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

They should really invest in soundproofing (or at least isolating better) in the rooms and then it would be perfect.
