Before I begin the tale of this latest adventure, you’ll need some background. My wife and I have lived in Guayaquil, Ecuador for the last two and a half years. She, my wife, is a native Spanish speaker. I also speak Spanish. Although I still make lots of mistakes, I am able to accomplish all the necessities of daily life,...

We just had a most unpleasant experience. These people lured us into their bar with a 'free drink coupon' (which turned out to actually be good for only a few alcoholic choices). They then charged us $25 for a very minimal and low quality array of bar snacks which had every appearance of being free, as they are in most...

Oro Verde is the upscale hotel for Machala. Dining area is pleasant, bright, sunny for morning, looking onto patio/garden and pool. Breakfast buffet traditional Ecuadorian though probably a B rather than an A. Hotel exterior is landscaped. Inside pleasant.

Would not recommend this hotel. Had a dirty feel, needs a good cleaning and update. The staff was kind and helpful but the hotel itself left alot to be desired. Very disappointed. Also has profanities written in the one bedroom on the ceiling.

Went with a colleague for visiting clients at Machala. Stayed in Oro Verde hotel and got to have a nice and quiet rest for the night. Breakfast next to the pool is pretty much all what you wish! Diner menu however needs to be in line with their beautiful infrastructure.

It is nit common anymore to see big hotels, with huge rooms, big corridors and big spaces, if you are not staying at the grand Hyatt. Well you can tell that this hotel was build in the 90's or even 80's just by the look of it. It's not bad at all, the beds are good, the rooms are spacious,...

This a older hotel and it definitely had some quirks. They cut the hot water off to our room several times and I still dont understand the reasoning they gave my boyfriend. The tub in our bathroom had some sort of crack in somewhere. So the carpet in front of the bathroom stayed soaking wet the entire time we were...

We found this to be by far the nicest hotel in Machala. That may not be saying much for this somewhat crude port city and the "Banana Capital". The hotel staff were very good and attentive. BUT there was absolutely no hot water in the morning, they knew it and offered absolutely o compensation! We had dinner in the hotel...
