We were the first visitors to Punta Prieta after the April 2016 Earthquake that devastated the coastal areas of Manabi and Esmeraldas. The facilities sustained minimal damage, in fact the cabin we stayed in had no damage. Alonso, the owner, built the cliffside structures with safety in mind. The foundations are rebar epoxied into the bedrock. Most of the cabin...

We stayed at Punta Prieta at the most inappropriate time for them since the electricity went out just before we arrived at 3 in the afternoon and never came on all night. Made for a dark and quiet evening. This place offers some excellent views both north and south of the beach since it is located high on a cliff...

Very nice location on the cliff. A lot of living creatures, from iguanas and to a variety of birds. Pleasant home sea food, Chilean wine. Clean rooms and a beautiful beach. A place for those who love peace and quiet. The rooms have a real hot water. But quite expensive.
