The Chedi El Gouna is lauded for its clean, modern rooms offering beautiful views, though a few guests find the space somewhat limited. While opinions on value vary, with some guests feeling dining options don't justify the price, the hotel's location earns high marks for its convenience to local attractions. The professional service is often highlighted, contributing to a memorable stay. Guests also appreciate the range of amenities, including a luxurious spa and well-equipped gym. The hotel's atmosphere is generally described as tranquil and chic, despite some rooms lacking distinctiveness.

You could say that this hotel is one of the best hotels in El Gouna, we got some rest, energy and sun before we threw ourselves back into work and that's exactly what we got there! It was beautiful, clean, lovingly designed, the staff very friendly, compliments to the lady at reception, one of our best arrivals and Archmet No. 7 ;-) The rooms were cleaned every day, food, breakfast buffet was super quality, drinks and snacks were served on the beach, you were greeted, what more could you want, you didn't even need to leave the complex, what also led to our top rating is the location, you can walk to downtown, visit some bars and restaurants that are also good quality, so what more could you want! There is also variety if the chedi falls on your head ;-) ! Intended as a joke! Nevertheless, small suggestions for improvements, imported wines or champagne, their prices are totally inflated and unrealistic even though we are in Egypt! Don't name a price, nobody would believe me anyway! ;-) a bottle costs only half as much in Dubai ;-) The rooms need a bit of renovation again, but these are small things that can be easily fixed! The room itself is great, comfortable, modern, big bed, what more could you want? That's why we can now compare so well because unfortunately we went to another hotel a week after the Chedi and got to know a completely different side of Egypt's gastronomy and hotel industry in Makadi Bay and it was unfortunately shocking and awful, rarely have we experienced anything like it and the complete opposite to the Chedi or El Gouna! But that's another story! We can recommend this hotel in good conscience, from the bad reviews I conclude that these people have not seen much of the world and its hotels, that's the only explanation I can think of! Best wishes to the Chedi, keep it up!

We travelled to Hurghada to try the Chedi Hotel after a great experience at Chedi in Muscat. The hotel complex in Hurghada is beautiful and very well maintained. Staff are friendly and attentive, but there are areas where training could be improved as some details in the service stand out.

Breakfast was good but not quite as expected for the price range of the hotel. After two days the offer became a bit monotonous, and the orange juice was unfortunately frozen instead of freshly squeezed. On the second evening, the hotel manager Philipp asked us for our impression, and I mentioned that breakfast was a bit boring. Philipp took my feedback very seriously and had a special fruit plate prepared for me the next morning with various fresh fruits from Hurghada. I found this personal gesture very attentive, and I would like to thank Philip for it.

I would also like to thank the friendly staff, especially Eslam El Adawi, who superbly looked after us at both breakfast and dinner. Special thanks also go to Mahmoud Gamme, the chef who prepared my delicious fruit plate and served it to me personally.

We visited the spa area twice and experienced very professional massages. The masseuse, Juline & A Alla, washed her hands thoroughly after the foot massage before continuing with the facial massage. The hygienic conditions were excellent.

Our hairdresser visit to the hotel was also very positive. Ebrahim, the hairdresser, was friendly and competent, and the prices were reasonable. The pool was pleasantly quiet, and the staff were attentive, contributing to a relaxed atmosphere. The location of the hotel in a lagoon ensured a safe bathing experience.

Unfortunately, the sushi restaurant did not meet the standard I expect from a five-star hotel.

The cleaning staff was also excellent and cleaned our room thoroughly twice a day.

The Hotel is in a prime location and within easy walking distance of El Gouna village, where there is a good range of local restaurants. It is also within easy walking distance of the golf course at the Steigenberger hotel. The Premium Beach Front Room with Balcony was excellent and one has a choice of bathing in the sea or pool. The sea temperature during our stay in Dec. was ca. 21°C, and still pleasant for swimming. The stand out for us was the very friendly and helpful staff, which made the stay even more pleasant !

Location and outdoor area are really nicely made and also reasonably well maintained, you can't say anything.

The service is striving but there are communication problems due to insufficient English skills.
For example, in the restaurant they always repeat everything you order three times and thus give the impression that they have understood what sometimes wants but then comes either something completely different or exactly the opposite. So for example, instead of dish WITHOUT meat (Köfte) came an extra lot of Köfte.
There were also occasional people in the service who could speak reasonably good English, for whom it worked out.

The people at Housekeeping don’t understand anything, I wanted a soap, it was...difficult 🙈

The rooms were right on the beach beautiful location and views, quite great. But the rooms themselves were more youth hostel style, very spartan and in no way appealing or cozy.

Also the rooms and furniture were really run down, scratchy, broken and dirty due to insufficient cleaning.
See pictures attached.

The walls and doors seem to be made of cardboard, you can hear through everything.

My son had both shower drains blocked and other guests had no water running out of the shower at all (we happened to overhear at the reception).

Bath slippers were dirty and used by guests in front of us simply put back in the bag. It was the same with a comb that still had hair from other guests on it.
The toothbrush box was missing the toothbrush.
A lamp in the bathroom was broken.
Missing soap dispensers will not be replaced.

The corners of the showers are apparently never cleaned, as are the guide rails of the sliding shower doors. If you hold on to it with the water jet, it flushes out tons of black dirt and gruel. Very disgusting!

In the hotel shop you have to haggle like in the bazaar, there is cheapest junk "offered" at unbelievably overpriced prices. That made me extremely annoyed and upset.

The staff sometimes seem very insecure. Checking in took half an hour.

There is generally a lot of yelling, the staff communicates very loudly right outside the room door, unfavorable if you are looking for peace there.

Travellers who value the luxury, ambience, cleanliness and 5-star service advertised on the website are strongly advised to book this hotel.

It's a shame, because under good management it would surely be the hotel gem in this area that it should be.

All in all we had a relaxing week in the sun.
The staff is really top in all areas. From the reception upstairs to the boys down on the beach. All very nice and accommodating. The whole team at the restaurant was absolutely great. We had half board and it was possible in the evening to combine the menus that were available to choose from to your heart's content. The quality was very good. Breakfast left nothing to be desired.
The service on the beach was great. The loungers were set up with towels, with windbreaks and the beach restaurant kept sending the waiters out to take drinks orders.
The outdoor area is exceptionally well maintained. The gardeners are doing a great job.
There were only a few small drops of vermouth: On the beach you could only enter the sea with water shoes, as there were many, large stones there. Only on a small section you could go into the sea without shoes. You can't snorkel here because there's no house reef or anything else, which is a bit of a shame because you're on the Red Sea and you might want to see some fish. If you want to take a sauna extensively, you might not be right here. There is no mixed sauna and the men's sauna can only accommodate two people. There is also no relaxation area after the sauna.
Apart from that, the hotel is really top. We have been to many top hotels and rarely had such a relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are nicely decorated. The beds were great. We had a Sea View Room with a small terrace. There could have been a bit more Sea View, but that's really high-level complaining.
Yes, we will definitely come back.

I’ve been all across the world, Spain Israel, Egypt, Turkey, Lebanon, England, France, etc. Stayed everywhere from the Ritz to the Breakers. The Chedi is the highest of the high end, with by far the most personalized service. Everyone that you see walking outside the hotel stops and says hi and if you even look the slightest bit confused, they completely stop what they’re doing and help you. They have the usual stuff: turn down service, etc. however, randomly during the day , people will come by and offer you cantaloupes or show up at your door with a plate full of baklava. The maid service knocks on your door just to see if you need anything. Poolside you want for nothing, Someone even came by and cleaned my sunglasses for me. I mean, you actually want for absolutely nothing. And the restaurant food was by far better than anything in the area. One of the hostesses consistently went out of her way to help us. I hope I spell her name right but it’s Melania.. The grounds were exquisitely clean. The rooms were well appointed and extraordinarily new with excellent modern furniture and modern air conditioning controls. Unforgettable stay. Came with my son first time we had ever been on vacation together without the rest of the family. We went down the street to the Movenpick to learn how to kite sail, And I have to say these resorts were complete garbage in comparison to The Chedi. I am planning to come again to complete our kitesurfing narrative arc. Will definitely be staying here.

We stayed as a couple from 27.01. - 03.02.2025 at the hotel "The Chedi" in El Gouna. We wanted to relax a bit in a pleasant ambience after a busy year.

Our expectations at "The Chedi" were far exceeded by the house and the team. The hotel is wonderfully located on the seafront and has all the amenities of a 5-star hotel and this in first-class condition. But the crowning glory of the house is all employees. All are competent, friendly, courteous and professional. This applies on an equal level from the pool boy to the cleaning and security staff to the senior staff. Overall, the GM of the House, Mr Philipp Uecker, has obviously done an outstanding job here.

We enjoyed the first-class breakfast every day and went to the different restaurants in the different marinas or in "downtown" in El Gouna for dinner in the evening, after a great sunny day.

The bottom line is that we spent an unforgettable time at the hotel "The Chedi" and are guaranteed to come back to this house in El Gouna as soon as possible.

The best season is certainly not January/February, as the seawater is still quite cool. In the period April/May this should be much better and you could even enjoy the perfectly maintained hot water pool as well as the super well maintained beach area.

Sure, compared to the large resorts near Hurghada and the surrounding area, the hotel with its 82 rooms is rather small, but that contributes a lot to the high standards that guests enjoy. The staff are extremely attentive and friendly, the rooms and the entire complex are very clean and well-maintained. A large pool area with a heated pool and a magical private hotel beach really invite you to linger.

The Chedi also has a very modern gym with its own fitness instructors, sauna and steam bath for free use. Right next to it is the hotel spa with a great range of massages from all over the world, whirlpool and hammam.

In terms of cuisine, The Chedi offers 3 options. The main restaurant "The Restaurant", which also creates the breakfast buffet, the in-house Asian restaurant "Nihon", and the small beach restaurant "The Beach House". For us, this is where the biggest differences were. The breakfast buffet in the main restaurant was very extensive, the dinner menu balanced. The decor was very stylish and cozy. Unfortunately, we were a little disappointed by the Nihon restaurant. Not because of the food itself, but because of the quality of the products that are prepared. It is also more of a pan-Asian restaurant than a Japanese one. But what impressed us most was The Beach House! Tacos, ceviche, fish & chips... everything was really excellent! The pina coladas were great and the latte was a lot better than in the breakfast restaurant (tip).

There are different room categories, from garden view to direct beach access. We had a garden room, which seemed bigger compared to the pictures on the website. A high-quality room with all amenities. Only the bathroom could be a little more private.

The Chedi is located in the artificially created city of El Gouna, placed on the coast towards the open sea. The small center of El Gouna downtown can be reached on foot in just 10 minutes. If you prefer something more leisurely, take one of the many tuk-tuks for just 35 pounds. There you will find many restaurants from all over the world as an alternative to the hotel. The Mexican restaurant Chicha is recommended! However, a reservation is usually recommended.

The Chedi is a very beautiful and quiet hotel with high standards. They place a lot of emphasis on guest care and service! We had a very relaxed and restful stay. Thank you Chedi!

I’ve recently returned from a week at The Chedi El Gouna and it was quite simply the best holiday I have ever been on: I’m already planning my return and cannot recommend it enough to anyone else who may be considering a stay there.
I’ve travelled solo as a woman to many places over the years and I’ve never felt so welcomed and safe as I did at The Chedi, or El Gouna.
From the moment I arrived at midnight (after a long journey from the USA via the UK) and was greeted with sparkling wine and petit four, I knew I was in for an indulgent week and was not disappointed.
The whole staff were so kind and attentive, and really went over and above to ensure that I had everything I needed and more throughout my stay. From the guest relations team (including Mario who led a great boat trip round El Gouna) to the restaurant team (including the lovely Milanya who I so enjoyed talking with each day), the bar team (including Mohamed who many times made my favourite cocktail for me off-menu), the spa team (including Christina and Magda), the lifeguards and waiting staff (who were so kind and helpful in indulging my early stages of learning Arabic and helping me with it), and housekeeping (who arranged fresh flowers on my bed each day), nothing was too much trouble. For example, when I remarked that I had very much enjoyed the koshari at dinner one evening but was too full to finish it, I returned to my room afterwards to find that staff had set up my remaining portion for me to enjoy later.
I booked half board and was very impressed by the excellent menu of food and drinks on offer at breakfast and dinner. There was always a traditional Egyptian menu choice which I very much appreciated. The produce on offer was very fresh and of the highest quality, cooked with great skill and served by attentive and friendly staff.
I enjoyed two treatments at the beautiful spa with Magda who had a lovely calm energy. Her skilled work really helped me to recover from the 13 hours of flights I’d undertaken to get there.
The attention to detail at The Chedi is exemplary. It is a great environment maintained to the highest standards and set on a beautiful beach with easy access to El Gouna’s marinas. If you are considering booking a holiday here: you must!
Thank you to all at The Chedi for your efforts in making last week one of the best of my life. I hope to see you again soon!

The hotel is an oasis of calm; we had a seafront room - it was just great, sitting on the small terrace and then straight across the sand to the loungers
In the evening there is an a la carte menu, the food is top notch! In the restaurant, Mr. Mina deserves special mention, such a nice, hard-working person, as does the lady at the reception of the restaurant. I particularly liked the food, very healthy food, but also traditional dishes
The beach is very clean, the pool boys are always fishing washed-up plastic out of the sea and look after you the whole time.
