If you want to get away and relax, enjoy a pool and the beach to yourself this is the place to come. I must admit I was shocked by the number of guests at the hotel, but soon got over this. It was like having the whole hotel to yourself. This is the thing I loved about it you could go onto the beach, no matter how bad you looked because you were certain that there would be no one to see you. The 'beach boys' were fantastic and we didn't find the sun loungers uncomfortable, quite the opposite really I spent most the holiday soaking up the sun with my friends and loved the fact that it was soo peaceful. The staff are really friendly and welcoming, plenty of staff on hand when you need service. We enjoyed playing volleyball on the beach (got invites to the gym, too lazy to go), snorkelling riding mopeds up and down the beach, as well as having full use of the games rooms.
We found the hotel to be clean and well kept, and the room service was fantastic (star hotel)
The food was great too, buffetstyle allowed you to choose what you wanted to eat, with a good range of dishes to chose from, although you had to pay for drinks. Towards the end of our stay as more guests arrived they opened the other resturants available, which gave us more choice.

On the whole we throughly enjoyed our stay here, desipte lack of guests, a positive aspect for us! If you wanted entertainment Naama Bay is only 15 minutes drive away, and a place where you can party until early morning!

The worst buffet ever quality and quantity, so disgusting.
No toilets on the pools, have to run wet from the pool to the reception or the room with the kids to get them to the toilet, all in AC which got my kids sick.
The beach is not good too.
The rooms are clean, however if you need room service you have to beg for it.
The staff is friendly and nice, the pools are nice, the animation team is so cool.

Raouf complex consists of Sun, Moon and Star hotels altogether with one main swimming pool in the center which all the hotels use rated 5* more like 3* with poor service to match, food breakfast OK good choice thats if you can attract the coffee mans attention to come to you and fill your cup! evening meal is very often repeated several time a week and reheated as a special treat one day we had 4 inch crabs must have been a nail full of meat inside (what a waste!) if you have children you may have to make one or two trips to Naaama Bay as there is nothing at all for kids I am no a chip fan but we didn,t get any chips offered in 2 weeks.
NO rooms have a balcony and if you do not get a room on the pool side of the Sun hotel you will not see the sun from morning to night. No facilities open Kids Club closed but we did get offered the key if we wanted to open and use unsupervised although they couldn,t find it when asked! The beach is fabulous at the hotel but the is no entertainment at all, unless you travel into Naama Bay this is a small busy resort open till 3 in the morning but very poor beachs. (A FREE bus is advertised 15 seats if it arrives must book in advance you will always find unavailabe!) Hotels taxis will always try to rip you off double do not use, get one outside hotel and agree price first normaly 50 Egyption pounds (£5).
The cleaners (all male) do a superb job and work 12hour days none stop, The lazy river as advertised to us is smelly and disgustingly filthy with all the pain dropping off, although this is a relativley new resort the hotels need a lot spending on them to make well needed improvements the position is right on the beach but the surrounding area is one massive bulding site with lorrys flying around from morning to night.
If you would like more information or photos of resort and hotels in the Raouf Complex please email at address with this reveiw.

Response from GOODGarfield, guest at Raouf Hotels International - Sun Hotel
Responded 7 Feb 2007
Unfortinatly all the photos is faked , it is for the hotels in construction phase in the area. Raouf Hotels , the sun , the moon and the stars , are note the same shape at all. they were built as on hotel base , which is consists of 280 rooms and above. the street at the back of the hotels in sharm el sheikh is leading to the beach area , and not the beach as theis gentlman claim. sharm el sheikh beaches are very beautiful, if there is a possibility to attach some photos of raouf hotels, i would have shown you the hotel structure and the beach.

I could have reviewed this hotel as "O.K. BUT SOME PROBLEMS" The fact is THERE WAS LOTS OF PROBLEMS, We spent the christmass and the new year there. The last posted review stated "THE DECORATIONS HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN DOWN"....DOWN? THEY NEVER HAD ANY UP!! Unless he meant the three inflatable Santa`s outside and the one tableu in reception,
RECEPTION ? atkin to desks in a village hall, manned by a bunch of good intentioned but incopetent people, whe did not give the requested early alarm call that could have resulted in a missed homeward flight.
I do not wish to echo all the bad pionts previous
residents posted, THE DIRTY LAZY RIVER, ETC ,lack of facilities one would expect of a "FIVE" star hotel.
I have traveled all over the world and to describe the Raouf Sun as a "THREE" star would be a kindness.
On reflection we wish we had requested , LIKE SEVERAL OTHER RESIDENTS, to be moved to a better hotel.
Take my advice , AVIOD THIS ONE LIKE THE PLAGUE.
I am writing to MED-HOLLS today(24TH JAN)to complain
and ask why they are still, in light of all the negative feedback, still promoting ........

We booked the Sun hotel for a week from New Years Eve 2005. It was a late booking and the only option left for us in Sharm. We only saw the Tripadvisor reviews after the holiday was booked which filled us with horror, but at least we were'nt expecting a 5 star quality hotel.

The reviews as it turned out were very accurate, but it depends on what you are looking for in a holiday. We wanted a quite family holiday and got it !! Only the Sun and Star hotels were open, and the pool area and beach were quiet most of the time, allowing us some peace. We stayed in the Sun hotel and were supposed to be allocated a family room, but were actually given a twin room with additional bed, but it was clean and cool so we could put up with it. Breakfast was actually good, but the evening meal did'nt cater for children so we ended up going outside the hotel for food. The staff were reasonably helpful but not trained for their allocated jobs.. this we discussed with a couple of them.

We paid £1600 for a family of four at half board on a late deal, but we were amazed that other families had paid £4000 plus for an all inclusive by booking early last year.. no wonder they were up in arms.

This hotel is acceptable if :

1 You get a very good price
2 You accept it is a 2/3 star level hotel
3 You like peace and quiet
4 You do not expect luxury
5 You can put up with mistakes and non service (at times)
6 You are not a picky eater

Plus side

Beach is good, so is the pool

We just returned from 2 weeks with our 2 boys, the brochure is just a fantasy, probably nicked from another hotel, Entertainment Capital, is an over statment, once a week oriental show is all there was, absolutely nothing else happened at any evening.
(independent internet connection) this too didn't exist, we couldn't connect our laptop, Not all rooms look onto water either, especially not family suits.

The absolutly worse thing we felt was the (choose for your dining pleasure from a multitude of cuisines and locations). There was absolutely no choice what so ever, non of these restaurants were open, the canteen style buffet food was reheated on a daily bases, and the the food was getting darker and tougher each day, as expected our son did end up with food poisening.

What made the situation worse is they had the most redicolous policy of no food or drinks to be brought in, they had security guard at the doors who confiscated anything we tried to bring for our suffering children.

We asked for simple things like Salad, Spagetti Bolognese, Pizza, Catch up, strawberries(too expensive), they didn't have any, yet we were treated like criminals for trying to buy else where and bring back with us.

Half board option is way too expensive when there's abosolutely no where else around, most of the other hotels are all inclusive.

I agree with the other writers, the Manager was sacked on New year eve, rehired New Year day, and resigned few days later, each and every evening more and more staff were quiting, no one knew what's going on, whether or not the place will stay open or not.

Hotel booked as 5 star. Definitely not. Every thing that is advertised does not exist. New Years eve Gala only british were excluded. We Had all paid our different travel agents. When travel agent said that it was included. Bars and lounge were closed. Everyone sitting in lobby in the evening freezing cold. no entertainment as staff left on mass one evening. No boiling water to make tea. Glass tabler tops filthy.
Food was the same day in day out lunch and dinner. The only fruit was oranges. We were informed by our Rep that YOU TRAVEL had pulled out of the hotel as there were too many people complaining. That says it all.

I can honestly say that this hotel is one of the worst places i have ever stayed in. For information purposes this hotel is 1 of a 3 hotel complex (Sun, Star & Moon) part of the Raouf chain.

There was no entertainment as described because there were only about 10 people staying in all the hotels, from Sharm Airport it is a 20 minute ride in a taxi the other way from Nama Bay. This means that it is a taxi ride into Nama if you want any entertainment. If you are good at negotiating you may get a cheaper price on a taxi than the £12 return price we had to pay each night. (Bear this in mind when weighing up the cost of your hotels).

The service was extremely poor and not what i expected from a hotel that classes itself as a 4 -5 star. In fact i struggle to see where it would get a 4 star status at all.

Food was not of a high standard (all buffet meals) and drinks were pricey.

For various reasons i had to relocate to another hotel for the last night which was within Nama itself and wished we had stayed there all week. It was clean tidy modern and the people were friendly.

Be warned the Raouf hotels are very bad!!
