At the heart of ancient Fort Cochin, Kerala, a place that exudes history and culture, is the 'Old Harbour Hotel.' A 300 year-old building that has for long been a heritage monument of this town, now reopened as a boutique hotel. Built in the Dutch style of architecture with hints of Portuguese influences, it was the first hotel of old Cochin. Later it remained a residential home to employees of English Tea broking firms until it was left unused for a period of time.

The Old Harbour Hotel earns rave reviews for its prime location close to attractions, albeit occasional noise issues, and its traditional charm that infuses every corner of the property. Guests consistently commend the hotel for its immaculate cleanliness and the warm, attentive service provided by the staff.
While some find the pricing on the higher side, the elegant decor, spacious rooms, and a serene garden with a pool contribute to the hotel's appeal, despite remarks about the air conditioning in rooms.

We stayed at this hotel for one night travelling between Mumbai and Alleppey Kerela. The greeting we had at the hotel was excellent everyone was so friendly, we were shown to our room the Palace Suite a great size of room ideal for three of us. the decor of the room and the hotel is continuous with its heritage theme whilst having a dash of modern here and there great touches.
The hotel is situated 100 metres from the harbour where you can see the famous fishing nets, and see the fishing market where the fish await sale. Along the promonade area there are market stalls, and food stalls providing a taste of India both food wise and culturally
The hotel as pool although we did not have time to use it . The restaurant is both inside and out, the night we stayed it was all indoor as we had a freek rain storm for 10 mins. The food menu has a great choice for starters and mains and a small dessert selection. Service was excellent very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent.
The room was a great, the beds very comfortable even the third bed , tea and coffee in the room as well as water for drinking. The shower was excellent with toiletries available to use on a complimentary basis.
The morning breakfast is a choice a continental type or Kerela breakfast , and they are both very good and filling.
there re pets in the hotel, Happy and Gavaskar the dogs are great so friendly and valentine the cat just does his own thing
Great hotel, it just so unfortunate we only had one night we will definitely return the next time were in kerela for more nights most excellent and enjoyable stay

We started our trip in Fort Kochi and had an excellent dinner in the garden one evening so decided to return to stay in the hotel. It was fabulous, they upgraded us to a large room overlooking the garden and really looked after us in every way.
The room had very efficient air con and the largest and most comfortable bed ever! The room had a kettle & a mini bar in a fridge in the room, which was a luxury to enjoy a beer or cold wine in our room at the same price as charged in the restaurant. They also allowed us to stay in the room until a taxi collected us at 1pm without any fuss.
The garden is an oasis in a busy part of the city opposite the fishing nets and we did not hear any noise although it can be a bit smelly from the fish at times along with the whole area. Princess Street is 1 minute away which is good for shopping and coffee shops.
Dinner in the garden was just as good the second time and a cooked English style breakfast was an absolute treat the next morning! Book, you won't regret it!

We had a wonderful two night stay here towards the end of our trip. The hotel is just stunning, a beautiful and elegant colonial building in a wonderful location. I think half of the photos we took in Kochi were of the hotel itself, and many locals were taking selfies / doing photoshoots outside. Our room felt palatial, large with high ceilings, beautiful yellow walls and various prices of art and sculptures dotted around. The pool was set within the hotel old walls in beautiful gardens. The staff were lovely and our son made friends with Happy, the resident dog (as well as other pets!). Food was great and we enjoyed a meal and glass of wine in the garden area of the restaurant. I would highly recommend.

We arrived late evening (approx 9.45pm) to a warm friendly welcome and was shown straight to our room and told we could do the check in procedures in the morning. This was most appreciated after a long day of travelling. The room had both air conditioning and a fan which were both needed although we did just have the fan on whilst we slept. (Aircon was a bit too noisy). The next morning we enjoyed our best breakfast in India. Delicious fruit platters, homemade granola and fluffy pineapple /banana pancakes. The evening meal was even more delicious with the best (and biggest) Kerelan king prawns with mango & coconut sauce and a spiced rice. All the staff were very helpful, friendly and spoke excellent English. Especially the 2 guys who seemed to be the owners/managers. The highlight of the hotel had to be the 2 friendly dogs Gavaskar and Happy who loved going out for a drive (instead of a walk) in the evening. This really gave the hotel a very homely feel, that made you feel like a welcome friend, not just a guest.

We really love the Old Harbour : we must do, as this was our 7th stay - and it was better than ever!
Comfortable stylish rooms Wonderful breakfast Atmospheric outdoor restaurant with fabulous music and food Excellent location right in the thick of things but still quiet enough to get a peaceful night’s sleep Laid back vibe but very efficiently run
Those are the things we appreciate in a hotel but what makes this place so special is the people, who treat you like family, and look after you so well. Lovely welcome from Jude and Vineetha, and good to see Sukesh again, if only on our last day.
Also love what this hotel does for the local animals, taking such care of Happy, Gavaskar, Lily and Valentine, and their friends…..
Travelled again with family , and the 4 of us had the most wonderful time. Thank you Jude and Vineetha, you really spoiled us!
We’ll undoubtedly return to Fort Kochi, and wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else!!

Friendly staff, but yes, very hot and sticky. I appreciate we stayed at the end of the season when the heat and humidity starts to ramp up but there is very little escape. Firstly the rooms, it was spacious, clean and quirky our problem was the air con. Our room had old integrated air con which was fairly inefficient, when turned down to the minimum 16 degrees it was still warm so we asked the front desk to sort it while we were out. It was cooler on our return but still not great, our travel companions had a room with a new stand alone air con unit which was fine. The heat problems don't stop there, the inside restaurant for breakfast is opened to the garden with only ceiling fans, no air con so breakfast was quite uncomfortable. We ate outside on our first night but the humidity and a few bugs made it unpleasant so we ate elsewhere on our second night. The breakfast was good, especially the granola and fruit but our evening meal was fairly bland, As others have said, wi fi is an issue and the hotel admit this, it doesn't work in your room so you have to endure the heat of the hotel landings to use it. There is a pool to cool off but as it was an strange opaque colour (chemicals?) I didn't bother. All in all, a good location and some amusing quirky art but that's about it.

Let's start with the positives - absolutely charming staff who were incredibly helpful. Food was very good with an extensive menu catering to all tastes. Room was huge and charmingly decorated with old style furniture. Two main downsides - location is great for walking round Kochi but it's on a busy, noisy road with constant traffic passing and subject to howling stray dogs in the night. Secondly, the pool area is almost completely in the shade as the vegetation is totally overgrown and needs major pruning. If you're a sunbather, this is not the hotel for you - go to the Brunton Boatyard instead. If you sleep like a log and love the shade, the Old Harbour is well worth a look.

This was one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed at. The building is traditional with old world charm, the rooms are done up so gorgeously, with fresh flowers and the cutest decor. The staff, including Sakesh, Kapil, Cinderella and many more were absolutely amazing., their service was top notch. The food was delicious, especially all the seafood dishes and the breakfast...oh my goodness! I could eat breakfast all day long. The pool surrounded by lush trees and flowers was so enchanting, it almost felt like I was outside in the wild, birds chirping and playing around. The live music in the evening overlooking the pool was a wonderful treat. I would love to go stay there again. Someone said that there was noise from the street, but I had a garden room with a courtyard at the entrance, so I didn't hear any noises. However, I would have enjoyed the noises too, given that the place was itself so beautiful. We had wa Walking distance to lots of restaurants, ferry, Princess Street, shopping, Chinese fishing nets, fish market, Vasco da Gama square....oh it was all so lovely!

Fabulous hotel run by the most friendly staff ! Great position right by the Chinese nets and close to shops and cafes. The room was beautiful we stayed in the tower room which faced on to the garden where you could see all the lovely flowers and birds from the balcony! The hotels kashi cafe was amazing and definitely worth visiting. All the staff v polite and helpful esp vinita on the front desk. It was my birthday and they made it special by giving me a bunch of flowers and a big piece of cake with a candle😊 It is expensive but definitely worth a treat

A wonderful old Colonial building in the heart of Cochin. We had two rooms, one with and outdoor shower and the other with an enormous closed in balcony room that looked out onto a park/exercise area. Our room was clean and comfortable, the staff was wonderful. Dining in the outdoor restaurant not to be missed, offered some of the best food on our trip. The poolside is relaxing and would suggest using it during the hottest part of the day when touring can be exhausting.

No, it doesn't have a jet spray for the toilet. The bathrooms are lovely and spacious, with a good shower and all the rest you'd expect. Though some has very interesting paintings as decoration I'm not really sure why.
Hi,
I don't know, because I stayed in a garden room. Nevertheless don't Panic, where ever you stay in Old Harbour, every room will be fine.

Andreas

I don't think we ever looked out of the window, so maybe there wasn't a view, but, during the day, we were always out, so it wouldn't have made any difference what the view was anyway. And why would you be sitting in your room? You should be out exploring the local neighbourhood.......
The suites are very large. The one we stayed in had a large king and a daybed. I believe they can accommodate additional bed there, but better check with property. They are very helpful and as this is a rather small property, they are very flexible as well. Highly recommended
