This place is a destination in itself: about 1 hour from Kottayam up in the hills you can experience farm life and splendid views over the Western Ghats. The house is stylishly decorated and very luxurious. Annamma cooks wonderful food and it is a great pleasure to listen to all the stories the Colonel has to tell! We did a... More

Our stay at the Colonel's Retreat was the highlight of our trip to Kerala. The gregarious (but professedly introverted) Jose and his lovely wife Annamma were most gracious and attentive hosts. The rooms with a balcony are just delightful and are well worth the cost (INR 7000). The balconies have a wonderful view over the property and onto the creek... More

Our family of four (including 6yr + 9yr old children) were made to feel warmly welcomed by the colonel and his wife, Annamamma. We had a room with a stunning balcony and generous bathroom. The food was home cooked and possibly the best we had in India. Off the typical tourist beat, the location is rural and the house is... More

I thought I had arrived in paradise when I got here. The house is truly beautiful in every sense of the word- a stylish, luxurious abode in a magical, peaceful location up in the Malvady Hills. The home made food is to die for and the hosts do everything they can to make sure you get 100% out of your... More

My wife and I stayed two nights at the end of September It was the end of the rainy season, but we had perfect weather - cool evenings and warm days. We could not have been happier with the whole experience. The house and guest rooms are gorgeous, with a balcony that seems to hang in the forest, overlooking a... More

We were so fortunate to stumble onto this wonderful B&B. The hosts are everything one could ask for and more: Mrs. Annamamma's kitchen produced the most marvelous local cuisine while Colonel Jose delighted with his marvelous stories. The house is a a comfortable gem perched on a hillside with balconies that feel like sitting in a tree house. We trekked... More

We were lucky enough to stay at the Colonels’ Retreat for just over weeks, Colonel Jose and Annamma could not have been better hosts, generous with their time, attention and warm smiles.
