We recently visited Varkala for a few days on our travels. I booked a place called Voyages Seaview Residency but upon arrival, we could not find it, only to discover after asking several locals, that it was called Rajams! This needs to be updated on all hotel booking sites.

The room we booked was large with a small balcony. The location was fantastic with everything you needed close to hand. The manager was contactable by phone only which was fine.

The only thing that needs addressing is the cleanliness. The room wasn’t very clean especially the bathroom. We were there for 5 nights and the room never got cleaned once.

Overall a great stay for the rate we paid but the lack of cleaning let it down.

We arrived in varkala with accommodation booked. Our reservation was a hell hole, needed to find somewhere else sharpish. Came across rajams. We were thrilled, everything we needed. Marshall showed us the available roomd. He was very kind and helpful. Big rooms, little balcony, decent bathroom really clean in a great location. Very reasonable prices too. Couldn't of asked for more. Thanks Marshall! I would definitely come here again

Close to the beach, well maintained. No restaurant but plenty of eating places within a stone's throw. TV and free wifi work well. Room has plenty of space for keeping stuff, drying towels etc. but balcony is tiny. Our first floor room balcony did give us some sea view. Second floor sea facing rooms have a much better ocean view but are quite hot without AC (which we did not want to spend on). Bargained with the owner for 1400 per day for 2 days including an extra mattress for our daughter. Linens and towels are clean. Can pay by card too.

We checked out after one night .... The reason was that the bed was hard and I mean
the hardest bed ever. We couldn' t sleep so we had to leave.
We had booked for seven nights, but the owners were nice and made no problem of it.
Rajams is difficult to find. The adress doesn't fit the location. And MapMe doesn't help either. In the end we telephoned them and they picked is up.
Initialy the room had no bin, no glasses, only one sheet. When asked, they provided these things immediatly.
We left because of the hard, hard bed. And we checked in to Marine Palace were we stayed two weeks. Marine Palace has the same price and is a lot better.

We stayed at Rajams for three nights during our honeymoon. We had booked a lovely place in advance but it was a little further from the beach than we had hoped so we set out to find somewhere else and thankfully stumbled upon Rajams. The rooms were big and airy, with a little living area and small private balcony. We couldn't get an AC room for the first night and it was pretty stifling despite the fans in the room so we nabbed an AC room - the Ganna room I believe - for the second two nights which made all the difference. Again a large airy room with clean bathroom.
The staff were friendly, wifi quick and at 1000 rupees for non AC (he did us a deal - they're normally 1200) and 1600 for AC we were more than happy and a short distance to the beach and within easy reach of all Varkala had to offer.
The adjacent shops have some lovely things albeit a little pricier than what you'll find along the cliff side.

Location is perfect for coming/leaving (near to Heli pad) and for shops and beach etc and the room we stayed(the upper room, a view to the sea from balcony) was big and nice furnitured. This was second time in that hotel. Price was 1800rs per night which was quite cheap i think, but in the first time we payed 2400rs/night (late check-out included). The price is negotiable. Free wifi and it worked properly. Quiet area and next to the hotel there is Juiceshak-restaurant where is very good breakfast served.

To develop: the shower should be cleaner and the balcony should have been wiped clean from the sand because once you went to the balcony you brought sand inside the room also.. And there was very small rusty marks in my towel and sheet, so they weren't bright white as you expected. Otherwise, very good

Found this place whilst walking past. Perfect location, right behind the juice shack with a 20 second walk to the main drag, and the beach.
Pretty quiet, considering it's so close to the action.
Only four rooms here, and I was lucky enough to get the sea view room up the top.
Ceiling fans, sitting area with cable tv and a lovely balcony with sea views!
Planned on staying three nights, and ended up staying 10!
Really nice staff too, highly recommend.

We stayed here for five nights the week before Christmas, found this place on booking.com. It was indeed a great find! It's on the main strip of cliff where all the action is in Varkala. There are bars and restaurants everywhere around us and the Tibet market is right outside. We had a sea view room with cable tv and fab, we could have had ac aswell if we had paid extra but there wasn't any need. The rooms are really big, perhaps because there is only four rooms in the hotel! We couldn't fault anything, they were clean and modern. Towels were provided and extra bed sheets if we needed them!
Only downfall was they didn't have wifi although we were able to pick the wifi connection up on the bars all around us, the juice shack/my place/sky lounge and Lhasa had good connection!

A short walk from the south end of the north cliff and the restaurants and shops (behind the Tibetan market).
Opposite a bar (The Chill Out Lounge) live music at weekends that can be quite loud and go on until late.
Rooms well appointed and decorated, clean, satellite TV. Could do with more comfortable chairs.
No wi-fi although fair reception from local bars even on the top floor.

Highly Recommended

Just checked out after only one night here but would have stayed longer if i could have. I was staying elsewhere which was nice but I just walked past this place and thought I'd ask to look at a room. Room was a/c had hot water and a balcony with sea views for 1800. Location was perfect just a few steps to the cliff but surprising quiet. Would definitely recommend to others
