I spent 7 days at the Dera Dune retreat with a small group on a Saga holiday - this was a new tour for Saga and we were the first group to take it. I cannot praise the resort too highly. The rooms, each an individual "hut" with a thatched roof in the local style, were comfortable, with a heater...

We have just spent a wonderful week here- and were very sad to leave. Shivani and all of her staff were very welcoming and made our stay very comfortable. It is all of the little "extras" and attention to detail which makes this place so memorable- such as the oh -so -tasty pre- dinner hot "snacks " provided by the...

We were lucky enough to visit Debra Dune Resort for 2 amazing nights. This place a bit like a diamond in the rough. Vikram and his staff were so welcoming and gracious and made us feel right at home. The food is fantastic. The jeep safari is not to be missed as we visited the local villages a true travel...

Nothing was too much trouble here: from coming to help our driver drive over the sand; to our welcome with a drink and garlands. Our room (individual 'chalets') was very well-appointed and the bathroom excellent - amazing to think that there is no piped water here. This is a wonderful place to relax, watch the sunset with a drink. Food...

What an amazing place! The staff go the extra mile to cater to all your needs and with smiles. The resort has no detail missed and is a must stay at least once in a lifetime. Be sure to lay on the deck and watch the night sky. Thank you for an awesome stay. Denise

After a long bus ride, arriving at this awesome oasis was wonderful! It was the last stop on our tour of northern India, and a welcome respite from all the big cities, temples, markets, and people we had encountered in the previous two weeks. This retreat is built on top of a giant sand dune, overlooking the desert, and you...

During a recent ATOAI FAM to India, I had the utmost pleasure of spending 2 glorious nights at this one-of-a-kind retreat atop a sand dune in the middle of the desert. The grounds, accommodation, food and service are all top notch but the location and serenity is the pride of this gem! The amazing cultural and dance performance at night...

I have visited Deira Dune Resort in Nov. 2012 and was just overwhelmed by this place. Away from bustling Rajasthan cities this places is a complete contrast and allows you to unwind and relax. I was taken at first sight when I entered the lounde/dining room with the colorful cotton ceiling deco. The food was superb and the village tour...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
When William Blake wrote the poem “The Tiger” with linesWhat immortal hand or eye,Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?”he thought of the regal Tiger alone. However, the handiwork of the Master Planner is visible in creation at large.Aren’t there wonderful strokes of full blown artwork of Providence visible in every landscape, every being and creation of the Universe. What perfection, what hues, shades, colors terrains and climes, all so calling, irresistible, irrespective. Dera Sand Dune Resort is one such destination where you experience in all closeness the intensity with which the barrenness of the desert landscape captures all human senses in entirety. We invite you to discover your own in all comfort, letting you rejuvenate in silence where only audible sounds are what nature has spelt for you. The night sky like a blanket of stars beckons you to reach out to galaxies and the sunrise and sunset leave you in bewilderment. We invite you to experience this for yourself!!Located well off the tourist trail in the remote Thar Desert. Easily reached by four wheel drive and located between Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, Dera Dune Retreat, Jamba adds a point of difference to a tour of Western Rajasthan. Named for the nearby village of Jamba, Dera Dune retreat has 18 stylishly appointed cottages decorated in royal Rajasthan style, a swimming pool to beat the desert heat and sweeping views of the desert. A spa is in construction and a separate facility can be used as a bar for parties or as a conference room. The desert around Jamba is host to a rich and colourful lifestyle enjoyed by nomadic tribals and the unique Bishnoi people who are true eco warriors of the region. The Bishnois are known as the conservationists to whom the preservation of animal and vegetable life is a religion and has been so from the early 15th century. There is an opportunity to join in the annual Bishnoi festival at their nearby temple dedicated to their Guru Jambheshwar.Guests will also have the opportunity to visit local craftsmen and artisans in their own homes. Every evening mother nature displays her artists palette of pastels and burnt orange in breathtaking display before the bonfire is lit and guests are entertained with traditional Rajasthan music. ... more   less
