We were expecting a lot given all the reviews but found this place average at best. Good - The rooms are nice, clean and modern. The rooms we had (luxury rooms) had lovely terraces, with stunning views of Mehrangar fort. Location is very good - right in the old market area of Jodhpur and close enough to Mehrangar fort Bad... We only stayed one night here in a large luxury room with a large full width balcony. The view from our room was as depicted in the main photo. Really stunning. The food was excellent in their restaurant and the Stepwell next to the hotel ,which I believe is being renovated by the Raas, is a photographer's dream. The reception... More

This is a terrific hotel, in an excellent location - so close to the old city with wonderful views to the Red Fort. The only reason I didn't rate it excellent is due to the staff. I felt that they could have been a little more sincere, and the fact that the toilet didn't flush well at all! Good plumbing... More

My partner and I stayed at the RAAS in early September and were blown away from the very beginning. At this point in our trip, we had already spent 2 weeks in India and had 2 left. I wasn't sure what to expect from the RAAS because the pictures on the website were pretty limited, but I understood once I... More

Amazing luxury hotel, with every conceivable attention to detail! Staff very attentive but not overly so. Breakfast & dinner superb. Afternoon spent by pool provided for a great relaxing time & the complimentary watermelon just added to the truly great stay here, can't commend highly enough! Rooftop bar looking up to the floodlit fort under the stars provides a romantic... More

Wonderful place to stay. Great staff, great food, great location and great building. We stayed in the new rooms/wing. You are in the middle of the city and, yes, the mosque is next to the hotel - but it was not an issue for us. Very high quality boutique hotel.

Red sandstone structure located in the midst of the action and excitement of the old city. Our room was facing the Mehrangarh Fort which is lit up in the evenings and is not to be missed. Excellent to have room service while admiring the view. Room is spotless. Nice touch is that they bottle their own mineral water using glass... More

I stayed at this hotel during the Great Indian Currency Crisis of 2016. This hotel was the only place that was able exchange dollars to rupees for me. The location of this hotel is right below Kumbhalgarh Fort. My room had a great view of the fort. The view only got better at night, when the fort is lit. It... More

Though it is a bit noisy sometimes, you manage to enjoy every bit of this hotel. Indeed, we stayed there for two nights, and we did go out just once to visit Jodhpur, as we wanted to relax and enjoy this beautiful hotel. The room is spacious, very clean in theory (we did have a grasshopper to welcome us in... More

The RAAS is the perfect place to stay at after a long day out exploring the city! The pool area is great to unwind and the restaurant is very good. There's a large choice of both international and Indian dishes as well as an extensive breakfast menu. My personal favorite was the rooftop bar from where one can enjoy a... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Inside the Walled City of Jodhpur and under the imposing stare of Mehrangarh Fort, sits RAAS. The site was formerly the home of the aristocratic Thakur family, and the original 18th-century haveli has been carefully renovated to produce the four old buildings of the hotel. The three new buildings are modern and contemporary in their use of space and light, and yet are grounded in tradition. Jodhpur's red sandstone unites the new with the old, with modern designs in its latticing and carving adding a fresh dimension to the region's age-old stone carving industry. This seamless harmony between the old and the new, the modern and the traditional, extends to all aspects of RAAS. Almost all of the rooms have magnificent views of Mehrangarh Fort from both the private terraces and from the cast iron bathtubs, and those that don’t have their own private gardens and views over the old haveli and landscaped gardens of RAAS. The rooms are furnished with state of the art amenities: all rooms are air-conditioned with the latest eco friendly machines, and have overhead fans, hairdryers, safes, central heating, wi-fi, TV, telephones and en suite bathrooms. There are rooms with easy access for the handicapped and non-smoking rooms. RAAS boasts two fine dining restaurants, which offer both Indian and International cuisine: Darikhana is a beautiful terraced restaurant and the Baradari Café is inside the old pavilion and offers a relaxing location near the pool. There is also a luxury spa that offers a full range of treatments and a boutique shop. RAAS is the ideal place to soak up the rich local heritage of Jodhpur while at the same time indulging in opulent luxury and comfort. As soon as you drive through the old wooden gates in RAAS’s very own blue tuk-tuk, the majesty of Mehrangarh Fort will be tempered by your sense of relaxation. ... more   less
