The Brigadiers Cottage - Your Boutique Homestay - is located at a five minutes' walk from the famous Kempty falls and the Kempty bazaar , The cottage is completely surrounded in a thick wooded area ,and the gurgling sound of the brook flowing below . The brigadier's cottage - Your Boutique Homestay - is owned by a family whose history is steeped in the Army and so the cottage was designed to be a manor of our father , a retired Brigadier with a huge lounge, complete with a fireplace and huge scenic picture widows where one can spend time curled up with a good book from our well stocked library , sipping great English tea, sit around the fire place with family and friends, mull over the chess board or other indoor games or simply gaze at nature. Each of the rooms and suites overlook the valley and you get up in the morning to the chirping of the birds and gurgling sound of the brook flowing nearby, those with religious inclinations, can take to meditation and yoga in the temple located within the estate, listening to soft Indian ragas playing in the background as you take in your dose of unpolluted, clean, fresh and crisp mountain air.The terrace offers a 360 degree panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges and the forests, the windows allowing for the sunlight to filter in while you cosy up for the day besides your own personal sigri . The barbecue and bon fire areas allow for one to sit by the fire under the starry sky to grill the food of your choice while you spend your time mulling over your drink with family and friends .

We were there on a very busy day and got stuck in Mussoorie traffic for hours. Host Aseem was kind enough to keep track of us and wait for us for dinner. Food was served in the room since we were very tired. Food was super delicious. Room was tidy and quite spacious, huge balcony with great view. They were kind enough to help us with our laundry which we had piled up for almost a week during our trek in the himalays, host Nitu herself made sure our laundry was done on time so that we had fresh clothes for the rest of our trip. Much needed relaxation after a trek in the Himalayas. Good place to relax and unwind. They obliged our request for early breakfast. Great hospitality.

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights at Brigadier’s Cottage and spent Diwali there. We cannot believe our luck at having found it, a cross between a homestay and a boutique resort. It is a charming place, exactly as described in the listing and worthy of every great review it has received. Aseem and Neetu Verma manage the place very professionally and have given a lot of thought to the comfort of the guests, to cleanliness and to aesthetics. Their personal touches, eye for detail and thoughtfulness touched us to the core and we felt at home from the moment we arrived.
They organised a special Qawali night for pre-Diwali celebrations with their friends and invited all the guests to the special evening, making us feel like family. The place was decked up with lights and diyas and looked beautiful and festive. They even organised a lovely puja and fireworks for Diwali evening, attended and enjoyed by all the guests. To do so much, without any additional charges, is such a rarity in today’s transactional society and shows their large heartedness and genuine love for people.
A big thank you to the staff, Maan Singh, Nirmala, Deepa, Anil, Dhiraj and the others, who under Aseem and Neetu’s supervision, took so much care of us and pampered us. Their manners were impeccable and demeanour was always pleasant and cheerful.
All the rooms are well appointed, very comfortable and heated and have a great view from the balcony. Kempty falls are nearby and you can hear the pleasant gurgling of the spring from the balcony.
We had most of our meals at the cottage and were treated to delicious, large spread of food, prepared hygienically with fresh local produce and items from their own garden, all served with love. Neetu took utmost care of us and her compassion and empathy bowled us over and sealed our friendship.
A special note of thanks to Aseem for his valuable suggestions for our day jaunts. All his recommendations were excellent.
A shout to their well - behaved pet dogs, Chichi and Chia, the geese, the hens and the cows…..you all complete the place.
Thank you Aseem and Neetu for creating a haven like Brigadier’s Cottage for everyone. Our stay here was beyond expectations, filled with laughter, interesting conversations, festivities and like a balm to the soul. We came as guests and left as friends. Your efforts, passion and fidelity towards your mission is heart-warming and your journey is inspiring. We hope to visit again soon and continue our cherished friendship.
To everyone who reads this : Look no further; Brigadier’s Cottage encapsulates a perfect getaway!

The brigadiers cottage is not just another homestay, it's like a home in the mountains. The hosts Neetu and Aseem would make you feel like you have come to vacation with your family amidst the hills of Mussoorie.

We happened to discover this online. Based on the reviews and localities feedback we made a last min change in plan and booked the place for a day. We ended up liking it so much that we extended our stay for another day.

The place is a beautiful property, 500m away from Kempty falls, located away from the usual Mussoorie city crowd. The rooms gives a premium feel with valley views and the highlight is the common sit out area during mornings and evenings. They serve awesome home cooked lip smacking food. The hosts would go above and beyond to ensure all your requirements are well met ( be it a vegan diet or wifi dongle for your staycation).

The cottage is located very close to Kempty falls, hence we ended up visiting the falls 6.30am beating the usual crowd. We might have skipped the falls altogether had we been based at any distant stay. The falls becomes really crowded starting 8 in the morning.

There are multiple places like the Sainji Corn village, Yamuna bridge, Kalidar temple Bhediyana (one of the best sunset views) within 20-45 mins drive from brigadiers cottage. Aseem had great recommendations for us regarding which cafe to try, which route to take for different sight scenes etc.

We stayed at The Brigadier's Cottage for 2 nights as a family of three. It is a lovely homestay run by a very warm and fun-loving couple - Neetu and Aseem Varma. The property is at a stunning location, in the midst of hills and one can hear a brook flowing nearby.
The Varmas, along with their staff take excellent care of you - right from the comfortable rooms, to the adorable animals (special mention to their lovable pet dogs Chichi and Chia), to the delicious food served with love.
I also highly recommend a trek to the village nearby called Sainji, where one can explore the remote beauty and enjoy the friendliness of the people there.
All in all, a very wholesome experience, filled with great memories for our family. I can safely say that we will return there soon, and often!

Superb Hospitality ‘ Death by Eating’ This is the only title I can think of for a most amazing and warm hearted hospitality of owners Aseem & Neetu and their very caring staff. Food is great. Aseem comes from hospitality background and his ( & therefore his staff’s ) attention to detailing is immense. We stayed as a group of 8 colleagues for a brainstorming and planning session and since a wing had 4 rooms so the entire wing and its lounge was for us. Each one of was delighted with cozy comfortable, well appointed, warm rooms in extreme winters, (outside temperature was 2 degrees). Breakfast, Hi-tea and dinner with the snacks spread was meticulously planned and overwhelmingly served. On the second night, there were so many offerings in high tea and evening starters, that I could not even dare to pick up the plate for dinner.
If one wishes to spend cozy comfortable time doing nothing or wish to visit sanjhi village nearby, enjoy kempty track and a day trip to Landour or Mall Road, Mussoorie it’s a great place to be at. Coming with own vehicle is preferred for mobility as the place is away from the chaotic heart of Mussoorie City.

One of my most cherished moments of 2024 was a trip to "The Brigadier's Cottage". Nestled in the pleasant and peaceful environ of Kempty Falls, The Brigadiers Cottage is the perfect getaway to relax, rejuvenate and recharge.

The proprietors Mr. Aseem Verma and Mrs. Neetu Verma are not only the perfect hosts but also very kind, hospitable and friendly. The couple go out of the way to make a guest feel comfortable. The expression "athiti devo bhava" is very apt in The Brigadiers Cottage. Over here, the guests are made to feel like family members and unlike a hotel there is a very strong personal connect. Apart from this, the guest cannot help but fall in love with two adorable Chow Chow- Chee Chee and Chia. The support staff is very helpful, efficient and respectful towards the guests. In addition, the cook comes up with the most wonderful culinary delights. The food is very tasty and resonates very well to "ghar ka khana". The rooms offer a beautiful and panoramic view of the hills and nature's beauty. The constant sound of current stream is pure bliss and music to the ears.
The most touching moment for me was when the proprietor applied tikka on my forehead just before I was about to leave the cottage. I believe this is the custom followed at The Brigadiers Cottage.
I certainly would love to return and relive the experience of The Brigadiers Cottage

Thus if you want to recharge and rejuvenate, head straight to The Brigadiers Cottage.

We were there for 3 nights and are delighted to share this feedback. Location is peaceful, quiet and serene. Just walking distance from kempty falls and we could really hear the sound of water flowing nearby. The room and property is as visible in pictures here, we were in luxury room and it was very comfortable and beautifully done. Our hosts were amazingly friendly and warm, thanks much to Neetu and Aseem for ensuring every little detail of our stay was as per our preference. Much thanks to the cook who took pains to provide 1 portion without chillies in every meal.

Excellent! Nothing comes in between the Mountains and you from room and it’s balcony. You feel calm and at peace the moment you enter the property beside bad traffic and hustle bustle of Kempty Falls and it’s maddening crowds. We came with our pet, Marcus who was very happy there and didn’t want to come back.

Ms. Neetu is great host who looks after the guests very well. In fact guests is incorrect word as she take care of them as family members. She called up personally to join her and other guests at beautiful Terrace of property as we were little late, to sit, chat and relax before delicious home made dinner.

Although we could not meet Mr. Aseem as he was travelling to Delhi, however he was in touch with us on mobile and kept on recommending things to do and places to visit nearby. On his advise, we went to nearby small village known as Corn Village of India and impressed with its s antique house and cleanliness. We also had freshly baked corn nachos, cake and coffee at small caffe managed by a Canadian woman, Mrs. Lori.

Delicious breakfast is served at lounge with antique furniture and beautiful paintings. Mrs. Neetu was upset to know that our son’s birthday on same day and we were leaving. She also complained that we should have told her the same on last evening only so that she could have made arrangements and celebrated his birthday on last evening only. Anyhow she insisted on celebrating the same there in the morning only and asked my son to cut a cute cup cake available in breakfast with lot of candles.

I wish we should had two days at least to enjoy the property and their hospitality!

We stayed at the Brigadier's cottage in April 2024. We absolutely loved our stay and the highlight of our trip turned out to be meeting the hosts Mr.Aseem and Mrs.Neetu and their wonderful daughter. The rooms were spacious and our twin boys had a blast. They arranged everything we needed, taxi, trek guide, airport pickup, extra cots and what not! The cottage is far away from the bustling and touristy centre town of mussourie. The nature in Kempty is to wake up for! The morning birds were a delight at the cottage, the geese, cows and the two lovely dogs were a bonus! If you love art, Mrs.Neetu is the one to talk to you, she is a gracious host and a talented artist. On the other hand, I wish I had extra time to finish seeing Mr.Aseem's family heirlooms aesthetically scattered around the property. He is an absolute delight to talk to and both of them made our stay extra special. Loved our conversations with the family!

As for the things we did in mussourie. We went for a trek, found a beautiful waterfall, walked around mussourie town, did a day trip to landour, to corn village, and also caught the sun rise at yamuna. The staff at the property are quick to offer help when required. Menus were handpicked by Mrs.Neetu keeping the guests in mind and they also tailored it our specific needs.

Brigadier's cottage is hands down our best time this year! If you're looking for something to make you feel at home, this is the place to come to. Also, when you're there do ask Mr. Aseem why Kempty is named Kempty!
