Although this place may have been good under the old management (Sawah Sunrise Bed & Breakfast), the current name of this establishment is 'Bom Bom House' and unfortunately it is bad any which way you look. I stayed in the A/C room for 8 days and the experience was just awful. Here are the details: Positives: ------------ 1) Great location next to Ubud Yoga House. The area (Abangan) gives you a feel of how the Balinese live. Great cultural exposure. 2) The A/C worked :) 3) There was no WiFi in my building when I got there, the owner got it installed within a couple of days. 4) There was an issue with water pressure in the bathroom and the owner got a pump installed after 4 days. I appreciate the owner fixing the water pressure and the WiFi, although it was a few days into my stay. But I knew that we had bigger problems, please read on! Negatives: ------------- 1) On the first day and night, we experienced electrical issues, jumper switches were getting automatically engaged in the electrical box, resulting in a complete power outage, multiple times. The outage at night was for almost an hour. The issue was resolved the next day by an electrician. 2) Low water pressure for the first 5 days made taking showers challenging. 3) The bathroom was not even functional when I got there. It was filthy with dirt engrained in every tile on the floor. I had to buy cleaning supplies from the local supermarket to get the bath cleaned to reasonable hygienic levels. The drain in the bathroom is slow and this results in the bathroom floor being flooded when you take a shower. 4) There are no toiletries provided except a very cheap toilet paper and small soap. And the toilet paper get soaked when you shower. There is nothing that separates the toilet and the shower area. You should buy your own toiletries if you plan on staying at this BnB. 5) The bath towels provided are old, ragged and dirty. There are no hand towels provided. And the mats in the bath and outside were filthy and I had to get them washed. They are literally in rags. Ended up buying a new bathroom mat. 6) Same is true for the bed linen. They are old, have many stains and I had to exchange the comforter 3 times to get a clean one! Apparently the issue is the launderer. It is easy to shift the blame on the launderer when the current state of the linen and towels is questionable to begin with. 7) The caretaker is a 19-yr old local lad who is not trained in housekeeping! It is clear that the owner has not gotten him trained. He is not even provided enough cleaning supplies. He does not even have a clean bucket & mop, to clean the floors. This lad has no clue about the fundamentals of housekeeping (not trained) and I had to teach him how to clean. 8) I thankfully opted out of breakfast option at this BnB after a cursory look at their kitchen. I cannot imagine the quality of food coming out there. 9) There is a tick-laden dog wandering around the property. Again contributes to the general lack of hygiene in the property. 10) There are very loud roosters in the neighbors lot, which will serve as an alarm at 3:00 am every single morning. Good luck getting any sleep here. It was impossible to sleep even with earplugs, I sure tried for 8 nights. 11) If all of the above was not enough, the owner wanted to increase the weekly rent after the first week, even though the price was agreed upon at the start for a multi-week stay. That for me was the last straw that broke the camel's back. I packed and left within 2 hours of that conversation. I have thankfully landed in a better place where I don't have to play the role of a housekeeper :) In summary, this place can be a good option, after some investment of money, effort and resources are put in. There are many alternatives for BnBs in this area that you should consider. So do your research, Google Maps is your friend and don't pinch on a few bucks for a better experience. The Nur Guest House is a great option, I had many a good meal there and took a look at their accommodations. They are pretty good and the staff are very friendly. In fact they helped me move out of Bom Bom House. Nur does get full weeks in advance, so book ahead of time. Bom Bom House was an emergency last ditch option for me when I did not have any other options in the Abangan area. In hindsight, I should have gone to other parts of Ubud and commuted to Abangan, as required. Hindsight is 20-20. My current recommendation is to AVOID this place, until there is some investment to makethis a better property.

Stayed here back in 2022 and Loved the location and the peacefulness of this bed and breakfast, It was a fantastic walk through the rice fields to get to ubud. The massage place on the corner was fantastic as well along with the restaurant a short walk in the middle of the rice fields. Rooms were clean, breakfast was great and would love to stay again if I'm ever in Bali.

I went looking for Sawah Sunrise at the insistence of a friend who had so loved her stay around a year and a half ago. I found the house is now administered by a nice young man and owned by the owner of "Bom Bom" shop in town (hence the unusual name). From discussions with my friend I know the breakfast and hospitality are not what they used to be. With the fast development around the area, the view is no longer completely pristine rice paddies but houses going up here and there. That being said, it was a lovely and refreshing stay. A five minute bike ride into town, 10 minute walk to Sari Organik, lovely nights, clean, nice room and bathroom, good enough service (nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either), no nasty bugs (only a few ants in one place, which were clearly there simply given the rice paddy location). I only felt uncomfortable one night when my neighbor was speaking on the phone until late. Sounds from the balcony travel very easily. I stayed in one of the second floor rooms for much less than my friend paid when she went there.

Stayed here when it was still runned by a Balinese-American couple and we loved the place, the location, the staff...walked past the house last month (April 2014) and seems they sold the property and is now run by others who still offer rooms so can't really say what it's like now...I would still give them a try...probably won't be able to find info on the net yet...better go have a look in person once you get to Ubud..

Stayed in this place few years ago, and it was great, the fresh air is addictive, at night, if you are lucky, you can see fireflies !! And the infamous organic restaurant Sari Organic, is on your walking distance. Breakfast is average standard, the room is clean, the bathroom also nice The downside is, because the place is literally in the padi fields, and so is the locals, there's a chicken cage nearby, and again, since it is in padi fields, there's no parking space for a car, you just have to leave it at the path entrance, but of course it won't be an issue if you just ride a scooter. But all the downside isn't comparable with the good side, will definitely coming back here again
