I stayed in this hotel for two nights only, before moved to Grand Legi Hotel. The taxi driver from the airport recommended this Astiti hotel as cheap, clean and friendly, which then I regret when I found that the driver actually live in a room at the back of reception counter. I got the room #5, which located at the end of a row. The stairs to second floor is right in front of my room, thus I can hear girls gigling at night when men took them upstairs. Below the stairs, there's sewer below the concrete floor in front of my terrace, which spread some scanty smell. The most surprising guests that night were 5 cockroaches appeared one by one after I asked the hotel staff to spray my room with anti-mosquito. I crushed them all and throw them outside the room. Positive side: in the evening, it is very easy to find various of food from street hawker. Expanding from satay (goat or chicken), soto (meat soup with coconut milk), ayam taliwang (Lombok specialty grilled chicken) or just a simple nasi goreng (fried rice). For lunch, there's a Taliwang Restaurant just opposite to the hotel. I tried Taliwang chicken with rice and vegetables. It was nice but pricey. However, for less than $20 per night, a private air-conditioned room in the city center with queen-size bed and a shower (without hot water) probably worth the annoyances.…
Astiti Hotel has a few different locations but nearby each other. I discovered a few of the Mataram hotels have expanded this way. The Astiti Hotel I stayed is in Jalan Subak 3, Cakranegara. The room is averagely clean but the service is downright poor! I had to request for the bathroom floor mat and blanket before they were provided. The worst is the breakfast. It was plain instant noodles with absolutely nothing else in it!! To make it worse, it was served plain cold! Stay away from this hotel!
Very friendly staff, great service, clean rooms and very central in Mataram
I had to spend a couple of days in Mataram recently and picked Astiti because of its central location in the road behind Mataram Mall. They had a vast range of different room types starting at Rp80,000 for two. I chose a room with Indonesian toilet/mandi but with Aircon and TV for Rp115,000. The room itself could have been cleaner with a lot of dirty stains on the walls but bedding and towels were fine. I was the only foreigner staying here at the time. It was full of Indonesian business men but that is likely for many of the budget hotels in Mataram. Despite being on the main road I was not bothered by traffic noise. I would definitely recommend it for value and location.
