If you take taxi, say “lets go U-Ju gas station.” great western-style breakfast with warm room during late December. the host was very willing to give recommendations and the location was in the middle of gyeongju and close to the railroad station.

Gyeongju is the first step of my S.Korea trip. When I search some place for stay and learn local things its difficult to find. However, I found it on the internet and booked that place.

First impression: When you arrived that place they are welcome you with classical music. It was amazing the owner of the house was super kind for us. The house and also our room was super clean, also they prepared breakfast for us!! I didn't face any difficulties in the house.

Overall, I would definitely stay here again, even though I just stayed for 1 night, I felt sad to leave, the host was so welcoming!
Thank you Tavo House!

During my one month travel across Korea, Tavo guest house was one of my favorite place to stay. Peun, his husband and his son took so good care of me that after my temple stay, I went back "home" and had rest another 2 days in Tavo guest house.
I highly recommend this place.

I sent an email asking if it would be a problem if I arrived at 10pm (coming from Seoul at 6pm), and I got an email back saying it would be fine. So make sure you pre-arrange your arrival time. I payed online by credit card using Agoda so everything was sorted before I arrived, or I believe you can pay cash on arrival.

I didn't catch the name of the lady who runs the place, but it didn't matter. When I arrived just before 10pm, she was as welcoming and attentive as she could possibly be. Her English isn't perfect, but she knows enough to get by. She offered me some local fruit when I arrived, and showed me lots of maps and things for things to do, and even drew me a map of where to catch the local buses and which bus route numbers to catch! 2 days was plenty of time to do the main attractions (Bulguksa and the sites around Gyeongju town), but you could stay 3 or 4 days and see everything such as Yangdong folk village and Mount Namsan.

Once she gives you have the key to your room and the front door, you can come and go as you please, which is handy as there's 2 convenience stores a few minutes walk on the main road that are open late, so if you ever need snacks or drinks/beer or cups of noodles it's handy to know.
She also makes breakfast for you each morning, which one morning was a simple bibimbap, and another morning she made dumplings which were pretty tasty. Both mornings it came with fruit and juice, and you can ask for tea or coffee as well.
She even put out flags of all the nationalities that were staying in the guesthouse at the time which was adorable... so we had a Korean, an Australian, and a U.S. flag!

If you're arriving from Gyeongju train station and walking, turn right when you exit and stay on the main road. After 15 to 20 minutes you will cross a large bridge, then after another 5 minutes you will see a sign that says Tavo Guesthouse. Turn right, then right again at the first intersection, and you should see a sign for the guesthouse.
If you're not sure, call a taxi which shouldn't cost more than 5000 won.

The host is very eager to help you, although her english is not very good.
We arrive late at night and found the other guest are sleeping. It is a bit embarrassing.
It is not suitable if you come from far places or you enjoy nightlife.
The room is clean and stylish. You can have interaction with other guest as well.
The breakfast is korean dumping which is good.
