As we visited in peak season, we paid for the tour. It isn't worth it. If you are going for free, go for it. It's a must visit place. You don't have anything to eat there or nearby. Make arrangements for that accordingly.

A friend and I stayed here for a night. We wanted to experience some luxury, not knowing that much about Sri Lanka's most famous architect, Geoffrey Bawa. It's a tuk tuk ride away of about 15-20 minutes from Bentota or Aluthgama stations. You need to clang the bell (one of 14 on the site, each with a different sound) at...

Our tour was planned starting at 9:30. We left Bentota Beach by Cinnamon around 9:15 and reached 9:30.But the tour didn't start. We waited for start about 30 minutes. The Garden tour (not include lunch) costs 1250 SLRs. Since our tour had so many talkative individuals, it took 1 and half hours. Bawa's garden was so impressive and beautiful.

A visit to this property is a must but it is a bit difficult to get to and not well signed. Book in advance and have a guide meet you at the gate. Geoffrey Bawa has created this wonderful garden over forty years. Another tip is to take plenty of anti mosquito lotion with you as due to its proximity,...

We were very excited to visit Lunaganga estate and unfortunately couldn't get a booking to stay here. Never mind we thought - we'd visit for lunch and go for a garden walk. Little did we know the hosts here are so unwelcoming. First they told us that they could not accept outside guests for lunch because they were full up....

There are no signs to this place and even when you get there you don't know you have! And then you must ring the unlabelled bell above large metal gates and eventually ..and I mean eventually someone will come . Many people coming by tuk tuk had been lost on the way . 1250 R per person Your tour is...

With 10 friends this was a an obvious choice on our Bawa themed sojourn in Sri Lanka. The choice of curries with our rice and curry were unusual and well received. The attentive staff who later also guided us around the garden made the day memorable. The garden is certainly a national treasure in design and casual approach to plantings....

Beautiful garden and country house. A must stopover if you are traveling between Galle and Colombo. Not easy to access - which means you probably need to have a driver to get you here. The "design" of the gardens and views are quite interesting, but I found interior design of the garden house and some other rooms to be very...

Beautifully landscaped and self sufficient garden of Geoffrey Bawa who has designed some of the best hotels in Sri Lanka. His home known as Lunuganga which means salty river in Sinhalese, the garden consists of an abundance of local trees including the gigantic Mahogany, Teak, Ebony and various other trees. The old cow shed and the chicken hutch are still...
