While my daughter and her boy friend stayed a few extra days at Paper Moon she booked us into Peace and Plenty in Galle Fort, booked off the Lonely Plant. We arrived after a 5 hour trip from Aragum Bay.Staff are friendly and helpful ,accommodation is basic. Sri Lanka is only opening up as a tourist destination and has a lot of...

Because it's a UNESCO place, prices are bloated in Galle fort, even for basic accommodation. This place makes the minimum: a noisy room, a bathroom opening on the corridor, water and electricity issues (well, it's the same for everyone around I guess), and limited wifi coverage. Breakfast was as basic as the room: eggs, toasts, jam. Still, the staff was...

Very basic. But £26 so expect it too be a little shabby, not quite as bad as it was though. Holes in Windows, dirty bed sheets and towels. We survived and its OK if you're on a tight budget, but wouldn't go back again. Staff were friendly and great location in Galle fort.

We had a great lunch today at P&P. While our kids choose Western-style food (chicken burgers), my wife and I decided to share the Sri Lanka curry and rice - we were blown away by the veggie curry and rice. Six different dishes and none were disappointing. All fresh - we had been warned that it would take some time...

I was only here for one night, but I enjoyed my stay - the food is great and the staff are friendly and accommodating, and the rooms are clean and comfortable for a really reasonable price. The location is perfect as it is in the centre of the fort, and walking distance to bus and train station and other parts...

We were looking for a budget place (under 5,000) with an A/C for the three of us to share. Galle can get pretty expensive and we've stayed in a crappy place for a similar price once before because nobody likes housing locals :( when they can feed off foreigners. But the staff here were pleasantly friendly without being creepy and...

Ended up staying three nights here. Great, chilled out atmosphere together with the awesome dudes who runs the place will make me wanna go back! The location inside the Fort makes it easy to get whatever you're after. The rooms are clean and tidy and the staff will always try to help no matter what.

The place is exactly what it is named... Peace and plenty. N the guys running the place are cool, helpful. The location is really good. And the rooms are also beautiful. However they could improve on ventilation... No windows in the room. They do have fan and ac. The price is also very reasonable. I would have loved to stay...

Stayed here for one night to see Galle. Great location & nice friendly guys running it. Unsure on other rooms but ours was the worst I can recall for ventilation- despite having there fan on all night the air just wouldn't move and we both slept poorly. Perhaps other rooms are better. The cost was very low but personally I'd...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The more than 100 years old Dutch house was completely refurbished in 2012 and rebuilt into a cafe and guesthouse. Through its open architecture the house is bright, airy and the rebuilding emphasizes this by keeping it simple but stylish. There are 4 rooms, 2 doubles on the ground floor with en-suite bathroom and 2 doubles on the first floor with a shared bathroom. The cafe offers a good variety of Western and Sri Lankan foods including breakfast. The helpful staff is more than happy to welcome you. ... more   less
