Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hotel and room very clean and comfortable, buffet breakfast excellent with great choice of food. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was to much trouble and were always very polite. Swim up room excellent and pools kept clean and well maintained. Looking forward to returning soon. Hotel in great location near market, bars and restaurants and easy walking distance to beach.

This is the second time staying at The Waters, my previous stay pre Covid. I love this hotel and the staff are amazing and friendly. The pool access is wonderful and the rooms are immaculate and fresh. Breakfast has a great selection and the Italian restaurant in the evening is wonderful and room service is great. The beach is only a couple of minutes walk and the night markets and little town are all close by to visit. Khak Lak is one of my favourite places in Thailand and I can’t wait to return to The Waters again as really cannot fault our stay.

Room Tip: If you can have lower pool access I would highly recommend it as it’s just so lovely

Wonderful hotel and excellent stay at this hotel chosen by my husband almost 10 months earlier. We arrived by taxi and we’re lucky to check in early as the room(not guaranteed) was ready. The room was huge with a great bed and was clean and comfortable. We were lucky to be upstairs with our own gate to the pool but actually faced the sun most of the day. It felt so quiet and most of the time it was…even at night…no noise…lovely. Breakfast was great…a good choice of food and always very helpful, attentive staff. Staff in resort and on the front desk were smiley and happy and always greeted you respectfully(so lovely). We returned to a clean room every day which was smashing! My only complaint and it’s not huge were people were starting to save sun-beds before breakfast…please don’t…there was no need but a handful of people started and that makes others start to panic and do it too…i don’t want to holiday in Europe for this reason! Would I return… yes but I feel we need to visit other resorts in Thailand(there are so many) and we have only been to Krabi and Koh Lanta. Don’t hesitate to book,i wish i could remember names but I can’t as everyone deserves a pat in the back! Thank you… our 13 nights were unforgettable…p.s We only saw 1 iguana by the pool…it made me jump but ran and hid when people started filming it.

I 've got to agree with the reviewers who advise to choose your room carefully. We had initially booked a bay room but were lucky enough to be able to upgrade (roughly £200 for 9 nights). It was worth every penny to swap from a dark room facing a wall to an upper pool access room. Positives - fantastic central location for beach, market and an abundance of restaurants. Plentiful breakfasts, discreet housekeepers who freshened up rooms at a time convenient to us. Thai massage was excellent (bookable at reception) Negatives - disappointed that guests were reserving sunbeds next to main pool. Perhaps Management need to consider removing towels after 10:30 from unoccupied beds.

We loved this hotel. We spent 7 nights here in a lower swim up room. It was shaded and that suited us as it was so hot, and we could float out to get some sun if needed, but we rarely did. Breakfast was a bit chaotic and there wasn’t as much choice as there are in other hotels, however it varied and was really good quality. The staff were lovely and we would definitely return.

Here your experience may be coloured by the room . Choose it carefully. Pool rooms maybe worth the extra. We were in a dark room with a view out to a fence covering the stairs. It was very dark and felt like a prison. Initially l wasn't concerned as they said it was a deluxe room. The pools were good. The food in the restaurant was excellent and loads of it for large appetites.

This was our second visit to The Waters & we are already making plans to return next year. We booked a lower pool access room & loved the ability to have a quick dip, lounge on the balcony & also lie on the sun beds in the water (especially in the January heat). The housekeeping staff are great, room cleaned every day, towels changed whenever you need & plenty water supplied daily. We thought breakfast had loads of choice, we always loved trying the Thai options & had plenty freshly made omelettes. There were fresh fruit, pastries, cold savoury options & tasty pancakes. Recommend trying the pandem juice. All in all a relaxing holiday with loads of eating out options within a short walk of the hotel.

To be considered a 5 star resort, it is my opinion that it has to provide the following. 1. Cushions for the pool lounge chaise chairs. It’s hard on your back without any type of cushion. 2. Breakfast buffet. No decaf coffee or tea. The egg station had eggs already cooked and they all were cold & dry even with warming Bunsen burners. Threw them out each time. Lot of their Thai dishes were too Thai (spicy) for breakfast. Must acknowledge that the kitchen did their best to change their main Thai dishes daily. 3. Chaise chairs surrounding the pool were in short supply. Stayed at first floor pool access room. House keeping highly professional. Surrounded by tons of restaurants & massage parlors. 5 minute walk to the beach and good 15 to 20 minute walk to the night market downtown Khao Lak. Good value for the resort. Highly recommend!

Really nice hotel, especially the villas with direct access to the affinity pools. Rooms excellent with good sized beds, bathrooms and balconies. Breakfasts good although little variation. Some sour dough or rye bread would have been good. Friendly reception. Easy walk to the beach and into town with a multitude of restaurants.
