The Haven Khao Lak offers a mixed bag of value, with some guests considering it a great deal while others point out certain overpriced services. Its extensive pools and amenities receive high marks for comfort and maintenance, though some attention to detail may be needed. While the staff's friendliness often earns praise, a few guests have experienced service lapses.
The atmosphere is generally serene, yet opinions on its vibrancy and modernity vary. Located on a tranquil beachfront, the setting is mostly appreciated, though it may feel too remote for some. The hotel's commitment to cleanliness is consistently lauded, but room decor and upkeep do not always meet the same standard.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and booked through the "Covid-19 government promotion" exclusive for thai people, which included a daily discount of 600B for dinner. The resort is located in a beautiful natural environment, with a private access to the beach and it is surrounded by the longest swimming pool ever seen in my life. It is 1.60m deep and well maintained. The lobby and the breakfast area are cozy and well decorated. The room is spacious, has a very comfortable king size bed and also a small living area with sofa and armchair. The bathroom is small but fully accessoried like in a proper 5 stars hotel, the washbasin is large and the shower area also much appreciated. A small negative point about the roof lights which are a bit weak, especially in the bathroom. The spa looks amazing and the massage room has really comfortable beds and therapists are professional. We enjoyed also the available restaurant "le vongole" were we ate a delicious lobster and seafood, but also burger was gnummy. Another fantastic thing about this place is that you can join many daily and activities and it's for free! Starting from the morning yoga or stretching, bycicle rental, kayak, and aqua gym sessions. There is also a big gym for those who wish to keep their physical form. We will never forget this amazing experience and we will definitely book at this place again in the future

This was our first visit to the Khao Lak region of Thailand after many previous visits to Phuket and other regions, so we were looking forward to our stay and had high expectations for this resort given reviews for the area even with the hour and a half taxi ride to and from the airport to get there.
The Haven - for us - was a good hotel but in the wrong location.
Apart from a few restaurants a five minutre walk from the hotel there was no other point of interest within walking distance to occupy our time.
While the hotel does provide transport twice a day to the local markets and restaurants at Khao Lak Town, one is at 2pm which returns you two hous later when the second 4pm transport arrives, that one then returns you at 6pm. The problem with those two times is, that they are both during the hotest time of the day (we were there in Feb/March) and as such there is not much to see or do in the town, while the later one returns you when the temperature is cooling off and when activity is starting up in the town.
Another downside for us (not the hotels fault) was: that the major occupants of the hotel were escapees from the European winter, mainly from Eastern Block countries who delighted in sitting around the pool and at restaurants in a massive clouds of cigarette smoke, oblivious (and at times uncaring) to the discomfort of others.
But on a positive note, the hotels rooms were large and accommodating, we had a Deluxe Poolside Room - which we would recommend, and the staff were some of the nicest people you would ever wish to meet, pleasant, helpful and careing.
Special mention goes to Pookky, Tang and the Chef Bee at the Sundial Restaurants and Tang who Serviced our room daily.
Breakfast in the Sundial Restaurant was always a good start to the day with a good range of choices and excellent coffee.
Dinner at the Vongole Restaurant was always a pleasant experience and the Friday Night Thai Banquet provided some of the best Thai food we have ever enjoyed.

Thank you to take your time sharing your feedback for The Haven Khao Lak! Nice to read your holiday experience and thank you very much for your compliment on our hotel associates; Pookky, Tang (Waitress), Tang (room maid) and Chef Bee are some of our stars. I will share your feedback to all of them. Khao Lak area is very different from Phuket as it is surrounded with natural places but many activities to do as well like snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, rafting, temple tour, zip line, elephant sanctuary and sea turtle conservation center. Me and my team are terribly sorry that our shuttle bus service time was not exceed to your expectation. We will re-consider regarding this matter. However, our hotel welcome traveler from all over the world and there are 2 kinds of guest mainly; Smoking and Non-Smoking. Thus, we separate pool deck and building for guest comfort and privacy. Indeed, your feedback is very helpful to us, we will bring it up to the management team to improve. Best regards, Joy / Assistant Front Office Manager afom@thehavenkhaolak.com

Stayed here for 2 weeks at the start of December with my girlfriend, we had upgraded to the private pool rooms, which again I'd recommend!
Just as a pre-warning, if you are specifically going here to swim in the sea, it's not the best for doing so! Jellyfish warnings absolutely everywhere and you can't see through it either... so can't see where they are lurking. The beach on the other hand though is very nice.
Room was a nice size and very clean, had all the usual room service, hair dryer, big TV, safe (free to use!) etc as well as some additional items in the cupboard such as umbrella, torch, beach towells and robes.
We used the room service a couple of times and it was quick and delicious, obviously more expensive than the local restaurants though. Talking of which, there are 4 just down the road (about a 5 min walk). We used them all multiple times, I personally though the Andaman was the best of the 4 but they were all good and very cheap. Cost about £12 for 2 meals, a cocktail and a pint. Hotel prices are at least double from what I can remember.
Check out and check in nice and quick, and they spoke excellent English. All the staff were very friendly and helpful when needed.
Breakfast was good and multiple options available, fruit, bacon, eggs, pastries etc.
Overall, had a great stay and would stay again!

Absolutely loved our stay at the Haven, we were taken care of from the moment we arrived until departure. The staff are caring and attentive in all areas of the hotel.
Great variety of food at breakfast, excellent spar (great massage), gym and garden areas. The pools are extra special. We booked a jacuzzi villa at the front looking directly onto the pool and ocean beyond. The room was spacious, clean and had very good AC. It was cleaned daily by the wonderful May who is a credit to the hotel.
The beach is fantastic, spotless with wonderful sand and amazing sunsets. There are some lovely restaurants five minutes walk from the hotel, which we ate at most nights and they all served very good food and drink at very affordable prices.
The hotel sits in a quiet area but they do run a shuttle bus to the village which drops off right next to Bang Niang market. The market is very good, no hard sell but very easy going if bartering is not your scene. It is also not too bad a walk there, along the beach to your left and then up through the village which took us about 35 mins. plenty of money exchanges should you require that offer better rates than the hotel.
Overall we loved our two weeks here and do not hesitate in recommending this hotel for anyone wishing to visit this area of Thailand.

We stayed for 7 nights ending our trip in Thailand. We had already been travelling around Thailand for the previous 2 weeks visiting bangkok, chiang mai and Krabi and wanted to relax in khao lak for our final week and that we certainly did here at The Haven!
Great check in. We were greeted by lovely staff who then took our cases from us and we were handed a cool refreshing drink and a cold hand towel. Check in was quick and we were shown to our beautiful pool access room. There we were provided all room amenities, drinks in fridge and a beach bag with towels and a beach mat.
The rooms are large and spacious,bathroom/ shower is great.
The pool is stunning and cleaned daily. Because we had our own pool room we only went to the main pool once but that was nice and good for a long swim and use of swim up bar.
The beach is a stone throw away but there are no sun loungers so remember your beach mat.
The breakfast here is amazing and varies each day, there is always fresh fruit, smoothies, pastries, cereal, yogurts to choose from. An egg station, bacon, cold meats and salad and then a variety of curries, thai dishes, soups, pancakes. You will not go hungry!
We ate in the vongole restaurant twice during our stay and we really enjoyed both! We went for the italian buffet and the bbq buffet and both were delicious and there were lots of options to choose from.
Live singers during the meal which is nice and the friendly staff.
We visited the angel wing bar a couple of times in the evening. Cocktails were great and again nice staff! The only issue here is that they don't really have much evening entertainment. The singer's at the vongole restaurant are nice but by 9.30 they are finished which is a shame.
We visited local restaurants and would highly recommend visiting the Andaman!! The bar tender is fantastic and very friendly! We ate here a couple of times and drank cocktails til late. Also recommend visiting pams restaurant (message her on facebook and she will arrange a transport service to and from the hotel for you)
Check out was a bit slow as there was confusion on payment and we had to remind them to give us back our 3000 baht deposit we had paid when we arrived but after some time this issue was resolved.
Overall we had a fantastic stay here and enjoyed relaxing!

For our honeymoon we traveled to Thailand. At the Heaven we were already warmly welcomed at the check in. Even then, the particularly warm nature of the staff was immediately noticeable.
It showed during our entire stay that the staff was at all times courteous and extremely polite.
We spent our 15 nights in the Ocean Front Jacuzzi Villa 5106. This villa with its excellent view of the sea and the fantastic pool was a great place to stay. We enjoyed every day. It should be emphasized that the resort is extremely quiet due to its remote location. Since a few kilometers long way to the village center can be covered easily (and cheaply from a European point of view) With a cab for currently 300 Thai baht.
Although we traveled in the monsoon season we spent many sunny hours on the veranda or in the pool. The rooms are equipped with umbrellas so even a warm rain shower can not matter. The bars and restaurant tried us in the all inclusive package with delicious food and drinks. Here it should be emphasized that the staff was happy to help with the selection of dishes with tasty recommendations. The spa area was also very appropriate for this hotel. Beautiful massages from qualified staff we enjoyed several times.
Only at the breakfast buffet and here only in the selection of sausage and cheese we Northern Europeans wish a little more variation and choice.
We recommend the hotel The Haven khao Lak with full conviction and deepest heart for everyone who is looking for heaven on earth and wants to spend a great time in a beautiful hotel.

This hotel is the most relaxing we've been at in Thailand, and the service is great. We are a highly sensitive couple, and our first room had a loud, low frequency noise (not everyone can hear this sound), but the reception quickly changed our room to one without the sound. So nice!
Exceptionally great service!! They helped us book a trip to the Similan Islands and the Khao Sok jungle, and everything was so easy. We even got a voucher with a 500 baht discount from the hotel as we checked in.
The pool area is very nice and so is the beach which you almost have to yourself. There is so much peace and quiet at this hotel and you leave feeling very relaxed.

What a wonderful place to stay! The staff were friendly, the food was fantastic, and the pool and the beach views from the pool are beautiful.
My wife and I came here to celebrate her significant birthday without our 3 children. We missed them terribly, but we both said we could easily have stayed another week!
Transport to and from the markets is easy, although a little pricey ($15 AUD each way) but well worth it when you factor in the inexpensive quality meals and the market shopping. The restaurants both locally around The Haven and and around Bang Niang Markets were amazing!
The room service was excellent - beds made, rooms cleaned and beds turned down for the evening everyday day.
The highlight is the pool - the largest pool we have ever been in! Was so relaxing wading yourself around the complex.
My wife and I have both agreed that we would come here again - hopefully sooner rather than later!

After over 2 ½ years after various lockdowns, we could hardly wait to visit paradise for the 3rd time and spend 2 weeks there. From April 20 to May 4, 2022.
Upon arrival we were recognized by James and Amy from the front desk and the welcome was very warm as we know it. Immediately we felt at home again.
We also got our room again, which we had the last two times.
However, the pandemic season has hit the hotel quite negatively in recent years.
Here goes my word to the management: we are so disappointed how the house was and is neglected. The rooms and bathrooms urgently need a complete renovation. I have deliberately not posted any photos of this now, but I am sure that the management is aware of the problems.
At the pool there are broken umbrellas and mattresses! This is not acceptable ! To renew these would not cost the world. This would improve the appearance a little. The pool is cleaned every day, but even here a renovation is urgently needed because tiles fall off.
It is a pity that the restaurant Vangole has also greatly reduced the offer and is more like a snack bar. The quality is good, but in the past there were theme nights with music and buffet and you were not allowed to just go to dinner in swim shorts. The level has dropped significantly. However, we would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff member Fa for the great service.
Also one of 2 pool bars was closed which we also found very unfortunate since it was the one where we used to spend great times.
However, we would like to praise the massage services offered by the hotel. The staff are very qualified and also ask about the possible pains you have and are also taken into account.
It was also a pity that many of the staff no longer work there, but this is also due to COVID-19.
Our praise also goes especially to Ricky from breakfast who also recognized us. However, the breakfast buffet has also diminished a lot and the selection is reduced and also not very varied.
We have decided not to return to the hotel for the time being until renovations have taken place and the hotel is restored to its former glory and offerings.
It took me a long time to write these lines and feedback, because it hurts my heart what happened to the hotel because it has a unique location and the beach area is just paradise.
Without the kindness of the staff the hotel could close its doors immediately because the staff still saves what it can save! Amy: All the best for the birth of your daughter!

We spent four nights i in this property with the intention of extending for a further seven to ten days , after one day it was obvious that this property is definitely at the very lowest end of the five star scale . First impressions are of a very dreary 1970s hotel which apparently was only built seven or eight years ago reception and lobby are swathed in oppressive brown wood with low dark ceilings . The initial greeting and checkin was not particularly friendly although one staff member ( Jack ) did make up for that . We upgraded to a beach front villa (5105) the location of which was the only pleasant thing about the room . The room like the hotel had very old fashioned feel and look and was in need of some maintenance , electric light cables held together with insulation tape , plugs coming off the wall are not really five star coupled with an extremely strong smell of mildew in the bathroom connectivity however was good and the bed was very comfortable . Housekeeping was daily and our maid was very friendly. There is a complimentary breakfast which in a word is terrible , poorly presented , limited variety and the cheapest of options , when I asked for any form of smoked fish I was told this is an independent hotel not a chain and was made to feel unreasonable that I don’t eat bacon or Frankfurters as apparently they get wonderful reviews from everyone , having casually mentioned that to another guest with experience of staying here I was told that the standard of everything had dropped dramatically with staff leaving and guests not returning. The worst aspect is definitely the restaurant staff who are uncommunicative and unfriendly , which is so unusual for Thailand . Externally there are several nice looking pools which unfortunately are not very clean with algae growing , rust patches and lots of broken or missing mosaic tiles . The gardens are pleasant but overgrown in areas with branches overhanging walk ways and hitting you in the face at night or in the wind . In short I know that some of the issues are Covid 19 related , no guests means no money nevertheless if you are going to market yourself as five star you have to maintain a minimum standard whether you are independent or not, if this was a three or four star hotel I wouldn’t have any complaint but as a five star hotel it’s just not good enough. , particularly that breakfast which is really atrocious . We are coming back in December but not to here .

Dear Martin aryeh W, Thank you for taking your time to share feedback from a recently stayed at The Haven Khao Lak. After, I read your feedback, we realized that the issue occurs that it's not your hotel's style. Some points that I should make it clear to people who read on your comment. First, that you mentioned about our resort is old fashioned style, on this point pleased to be clarified this is a hotel concept and style, we are natural friendly resort style, most of our material is made from wood to create a connection of a nature. For the room upgrade point, may I strongly reply that it was own decision to take room upgrade there. My assistant Front Office Manager tried very hard to provide the best solution to pleased you. We've provided the best room category with a special big discount rate. Breakfast, as I personally had conversation to you directly. I also gave you explanation that should not compare our breakfast with previous five-star hotels in Phuket and around the world that you've stayed. Each hotel provides different breakfast cuisine selection such as Asian, European, and American breakfast including fishes, beef, chicken, pork, seafood, vegetarian, seasonal fruits and our signature egg station. Last but not least, eventually you are unsatisfied with our resort's style but I'm pretty sure our hospitality is go higher than your rating 2-star. Regards, James Nuimuang Room Division Manager

Hi there, The Haven Khaolak provides universal plugs and it could fit all. For elephants excursion and more can just ask receptionist book for it.
Hi, our room had a large bathroom (toilet, shower, basin) -plenty of room! Then just a large room space with two queen beds put together to make a ‘mega double’. For 3 singles, I would guess that there would be 3 queen beds in the room. We also had a small sofa & chair and coffee table. The large glass doors opened to a small stone deck with chairs right next to the pool which is huge. The room was great for just hanging out in and swimming. The resort I found was great. Right next to the beach, heaps of pool space, restaurants, bars, etc. plenty of restaurants just a walk away too ( I can highly recommend the Chill-lay restaurant about 10km away 400 baht in taxi!) I hope this helps.
Yes you could just charge to your room any other meals and drinks. The restaurant had a great menu at reasonable prices and the drinks were well priced too. There are a few cheap and cheerful restaurants about 400m away on the road leading to the Haven. We ate at two of them and enjoyed our meals.
Can anyone tell me how far bars and restaurants are from the hotel will we need to get a taxi
Thanks
No the bars are just down the road, well the Andermans is a restaurant and bar, brilliant bar. The Haven itself is also brilliant. If you want to go into town the Haven does a shuttle bus catch tge 1600 one free and get a taxi back
We booked our tours in advance and it worked out great. Khaolaktourplan worked well for us, communication was perfect. We got to do some customization-it worked out well. Handled everything via email. If we had it to do all over again, we would skip James Bond Island, small & crowded, not much to see. Elephant bathing was a highlight. Hope you have a great time! Don’t sweat the swim up room….we enjoyed the main pool ourselves.
