Centrally located in Surat Thani, this old hotel is a offers free parking, a restaurant and air-conditioned rooms with a cable TV. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the Night Boat Pier, where guests can travel to Samui, Phanyan and Koh Tao. It is a 25 minutes drive from Suratthani Airport. The Clean big room is simply furnished with large window, a fridge, telephone and private bathroom with a shower. The Tapee restaurant serves a variety of Thai and Chinese dishes but closed early. In-room dining options are also offered. Out of the hotel walk across the street to the left and junction turn right 5 mins walk to the night market which start around 5.30pm....lots of local street food till late. 7/11 and family mart is nearby too, the hotel sell drinks and beer which is only about 5 to 8 baht different from mini mart. In the morning there are few local stall selling nice breakfast. Overall, it can be old but staff is nice and price for a night is reasonable, with working air con, hot shower and good wifi. No complaint at all for the price paid.

We booked the room by phone two days before arrival date. We stay at this hotel before going to Koh Phangan next day. Not welcoming atmosphere, is the first thing we touched from hotel staff. Advance booking is not important for this season, I think. Because of the check-in process they just need my name and phone number (never ask for Passport). I told them that my friend will come to stay with me in the evening but no one listens to me. I get the room 323, near elavator.
In the bathroom is a bit dirty on the floor and sink. Some faucet is leaking.

Cheap, honest, simple rooms centrally located and near a great cafeteria. You get free parking if you need it and the feel of a hotel rather than a guest house, for the price of a guest house. Why not :)

Well, where do i start. we booked this room purely as s crash pad between the return ferry from koh phangnan and the departing train to Malaysia. whilst the cleanliness of the room was acceptable the decore left a lot to be desired - the rooms are basic with stark white lighting. the reception staff were also very helpful seeming to begrudge us interrupting their dinner. when we asked how to get to the train station an offer of a taxi booking for midnight and a wakeup call were offered - this never came to fruition so we had to flag down a tuktuk (not many around at that time of night). In all id have to say there must be better places to stay in this rundown little town.

We stayed here as a stop over in between places. Its very basic but big clean rooms, can't expect more for 650 bahts (£13) per room. Air con is strong, ensuite, fridge, tv, dressing table and free wifi which worked fine in my room you just have to ask for the code. Not an area I'd like to stay for more than a night or 2 but I've enjoyed the Experiance. The night markets are about a 5 minute walk.

We stayed for just one night as a stop over before getting a flight the next day.

Cheap basic, slightly old and run down, but did the job.

Clean and good location to night market - 5 minute walk and staff at desk directed us.

Used Phantip (highly recommended) to take us to airport. Great service and very cheap (100baht pp). 5 minute walk to their office from hotel to catch bus.

Worth staying as a stop over place.

The hotel was very basic but also very cheap, not a lot of options in this area, but Surat Thani was horrible not a place I everr want to go again, and I dont think many travellers do, cant say we saw any, the only reason to go there was to get the train to Bangkok, which was long but quite a plesant trip.

It is a cheap hotel, for one night is absolutely okay. The A/C is good, not noisy, good TV, big and clean bed. The bathroom is not enough clean for a women, though. So 1 or 2 night is okay. It is perfect for an overnight stay before you head to the airport. There is nothing much to do in Suratthani, don't waste your time there.
Tip:
The Phantip Travel is in 5 minutes by walking - you can go to the airport by airport shuttle, it is so much cheeper than the taxi or songteaw.

We came from Ko Phangan on the Rajah ferry and then the one bus ride from Don Sak pier into Suratthani.
To our happy surprise the Tapee hotel was only 300 metres from the Rajah travel centre in Suratthani. From the bus drop off we walked for about 2 minutes to the Tapee.
First impressions were of a very clean hotel costing only £13 a night. Our room was massive.Everything in the room was very acceptable.
We ate lunch in the restaurant. Just the normal Pad Thai.
In the evening we walked the 400 metres to the night market. Hundreds of stall selling all you could want. We ate a kind of fried eggy pastry containing mussels. Excellent value.
Then back to the Tapee for a deserved nights sleep. There were security guards on the doors.
All in all then a much recommended hotel.

Since I couldn't find any guesthouse in Surat Thani, this is the only choice for it's economic price as a hotel.
Nothing very special about this hotel as its town. But it's fine enough for one night rest before long train journey. Characterless but large room, double size bed and free wi-fi at robby room.
If you don't expect anything special, this hotel is just fine.
